Recently, an interesting material called "Foamiran" came into my hands. In the common people, it is also called - decorative or porous rubber, plastic suede, foam, rubber paper.
Foamiran is a unique material for children's creativity and a variety of crafts, it is a pleasure to work with it. Pleasant to the touch, easy to cut like paper, non-toxic and safe for children and has a huge color scheme.
Having twisted and turned the decorative rubber in my hands, I decided to try it out in practice. It turned out quite beautiful and bright signs on the door for the children's room.

Now let's talk about the features of the material.

Fom eva is a porous rubber, flexible, light, elastic, odorless. The material is produced in Iran, so this material is still unknown to many on the Russian market. Fom eva is produced in sheets 50x50 cm in size, of various densities. Foamiran is produced in different colors, which allows you to create beautiful flower bouquets, jewelry, and various products.

Foamiran is not toxic; heat resistant; easy to clean; products created from it are not afraid of interaction with water. The porous rubber von eva holds its shape well, which means that the products formed from this material (appliqués, decorations, flowers) will eventually be the same as the master intended them to be.

Foamiran is easy to cut with curly scissors and general purpose scissors. Using a figured hole punch made of porous rubber, you can create blanks or original cuts in the material for further use of foamiran in decorative art.

Depending on the structure and density of the material, it is used to create different products. For example, for the manufacture of flowers and decorations, it is necessary to choose a foamiran of a homogeneous structure without visible holes. Despite the name “porous rubber”, the fewer pores on the surface of the foamiran, the easier it is to work with.

How to work with porous rubber.

Very easy, but not very fast. The fact is that by cutting a workpiece with scissors or a figured hole punch, you need to give volume to a flat sheet of foamiran. And this can be done with the help of heat treatment. To do this, foamiran is rubbed in the palms, so that when the palms are rubbed, heat is generated and the material becomes more pliable. After this simple technique, the foamiran blank is stretched, bent, in general, given the required volume. The EVA background is stretched by 10%, the structure of the material allows it to be bent, wrinkled, twisted, while all impacts on the rubber can be both corrected and preserved.

But when creating flat figures for applique, decorating albums using technology, decorating photo frames and other ideas, you will definitely like this material, as it is easy to cut, it does not have sharp edges and sticks well.

Of course, the ideal option for most types of needlework is a glue gun. You are guaranteed to stick most materials without getting your hands dirty. But if you don’t have a glue gun, don’t worry, any kind of rubber glue will do, because Background Eva is primarily rubber, albeit odorless.

There is a huge variety of interesting materials for children's creativity, and one of the little-known, but very interesting, at the same time simple and pleasant to work with, is colored foam rubber. Materials used: template, tin from corn or green peas and the like, colored foam rubber, PVA glue, hole punch, felt-tip pens.

We draw a template by hand, not necessarily evenly and symmetrically. The width of the panties when unfolded should correspond to half or slightly more than the girth of the jar.

The first craft from foamiran

For novice craftsmen, it will be possible to make an ordinary rose with their own hands. Before starting the master class, we will prepare everything you need.

You will need:

• foamiran of two colors (purple and green);
• scissors;
• iron;
• hot glue.

When constructing flowers and toys from foamiran, their parts cannot be connected using the usual PVA glue. Use UHU Creative Adhesive or UHU Powerspray Spray Adhesive.

Master class for beginners

1. Cut out rose petals of three sizes from purple foamiran with your own hands, and a rosette from green.
2. Put a few petals on a warm iron or radiator and leave them for 3-5 minutes.
3. Roll and unfold warm petals with your own hands, stretching the middle. Form a flagellum - the middle of the toy.
4. Glue the petals in a circle with hot glue, first small, then medium and finally large.
5. Heat a green socket and form leaves.
6. Glue the rosette to the flower with your own hands.

1. It is realistic to deform rose petals without heating with special devices. You can simply, warming them with your warmth, roll them between your palms, twist the edges in different directions with your fingers, and then stretch the middle with your own hands. The effect will be almost the same, but not as strong.
2. Having wound a sufficient number of petals, arrange them in ascending order.
3. Form a "popsicle" in the form of a pear from foil, plasticine or other material and glue all the petals around it. Take out the "pear", leaving the stick.
