DIY Neptune costume from scraps. DIY costumes of sea creatures: jellyfish, octopus, starfish, shell, fish and submarine

Nina Minchenko

The holiday has passed Neptune.

I had the role of ruler of the seas and oceans. The first thought is how and from what to make costume quickly and inexpensively? "Going over it in my mind" Having the necessary fabric at home, I still ran to the hardware store for plastic bags. Planning that the packages would be useful for making a wig and a beard, I took two packages of blue ones - white ones, there were no transparent ones.

At home, first I decided to see how the outfit would look. She wrapped herself in a white cloth, threw a blue one over her shoulder (either a robe or a cloak, and tied her sheaf-shaped body with a belt. (Yes, they look more beautiful in a sauna). The carved border of the white fabric did not add any grandeur or beauty.

I was upset and decided to put it off for now and work on the wig and beard.

Unwrapping the packages, I saw how huge they were. Large packages per package (for car wheels) four pieces. If you fold them one to the other in diamond shapes (like this - I show it on double-sided colored paper; we bend the edges outward...

By connecting them with tape, we get a dress with an asymmetrical hem. I liked the result - a cellophane dress Neptune was airy, light.

And for the wig, I needed a package to fit my head.

I had an idea for a beard and mustache of a more complex design, but I decided to just cover half of my face like this - by tying long strips to an elastic band.

Cardboard was used to make the crown. The mop was decorated with sultans - here is the magic trident.

To summarize - for suitlords of the seas and oceans will be needed:

Bags for car tires - 6 pcs. (4 pieces - dress, 2 pieces - wig and beard)

Adhesive tape transparent

Blue elastic - 40cm

Package according to head size for wig - 1pc

Cardboard for crown (A4)- 2 pcs

Mop - (trident)

Slides, blue poreo

How wonderful it is to feel like the ruler of the sea! If Halloween, a masquerade ball or another costume party is coming up, we invite you to transform into an interesting and powerful character - Neptune.

This is a mythical character, and the image of Neptune (or, as it is also called, Poseidon) for most people was formed on the basis of illustrations in books and cartoons. Let's make a universal list of parts without which we cannot imagine Neptune's costume, and then make them ourselves. So, you need to do:

  • Crown;
  • A light cape - Neptune's robe;
  • Trident;
  • A full beard.

Making a trident

You need to prepare:

  • Two sheets of thick paper or cardboard;
  • Glue;
  • Stationery knife;
  • Scotch;
  • Foil;
  • A longer stick.

We draw the outline of our trident on thick paper or cardboard and cut it out. Then we apply it to the second sheet to make another similar part. Trace, cut out.

To make them denser, we glue them with adhesive tape, possibly in several layers. We connect the parts together in all places except the bottom.

This is the place for the stick. We put the resulting trident on it and secure it with tape.

Carefully wrap the entire trident, from the stick to the cardboard tip, with foil, gluing the ends for good fixation.

  • Seashells and small pebbles;
  • Blue ribbon;
  • Velcro for fastening.

Make two rectangular pieces white the required size for a cape for Neptune's costume with your own hands, the photo shows how to sew the parts together.

Finish the edges of the blue material, about 70 cm wide and twice as long as the finished cape. Form longitudinal folds in the middle and sew using a machine.

Make a rectangle out of blue material, one side of which is 35 cm, and the other is the waist circumference plus 4-6 cm. Fold it in half along the second side, insert the material from which the visors are made in the middle. Stitch. Decorate with shells and stones, having previously sewn on the braid. Attach Velcro fastener.

Congratulations! You have made Neptune's Cape.

Making a crown

Costumes for Neptune's Day wouldn't be complete without a crown, which you can make with your own hands. You can make a regular crown and decorate it seashells and pebbles or borrow the idea of the king’s headdress from The Little Mermaid.

We tell you how to organize a fun Neptune Day. The ideas we have collected will be useful for counselors in children's summer camps, where this holiday is especially popular.

How did the holiday “Neptune Day” appear?

Neptune's day is fun summer holiday, which all children who come on vacation to look forward to. Neptune Day is usually celebrated in mid-summer, on July 16th. But sometimes, in order to please the children from each shift, the holiday is held several times.

There are several versions of where the tradition of celebrating Neptune Day came to us. Once upon a time, the ancient Romans held a neptunalia - a holiday honoring the god Neptune, the ruler of the seas and streams, so that he would prevent drought.

Also, the Neptune holiday is popular among sailors and is celebrated when a ship passes the equator. Once upon a time, superstitious sailors staged a party to win Neptune's favor, create a fair wind and quickly cross the equator. Later that day, experienced “sea wolves” began to initiate newcomers into maritime affairs. And not a single initiation took place without throwing new ones into the water.

Now even those who are not associated with navigation have begun to celebrate the holiday of Neptune: costume parades, games near bodies of water, quests for children and adults, and swimming in nearby rivers and lakes are organized in cities. Children especially liked the holiday and became popular in summer camps.

The main traditions of celebrating Neptune Day

There is no single scenario for celebrating Neptune Day, but there are several traditions that all participants in the fun adhere to:

  • the main thing at the holiday is Neptune;
  • devils and mermaids are Neptune's constant retinue, which helps to carry out the performance;
  • After the performance, the campers are forced to bathe in the nearest body of water or pour water on the counselors and new students.

The holiday itself is accompanied by competitions, songs, dances and quizzes. Sometimes the end of a holiday is not complete without a fire on the shore of a pond.

Costumes for Neptune Day

For Neptune's Day, as for any other, you should prepare in advance. It is better not to burden children who have come to camp to take a break from school assignments with complex roles, but rather to offer them to focus on costumes for the holiday. It is important to remember that Neptune structures should not be complex, but can be easily constructed from scrap materials.

Neptune's costume should be the most elegant with the obligatory attributes: a crown, a trident and a beard.

It’s easy to make for the god of the seas, like the trident itself, by covering them with foil. The beard can be made from cotton wool, and the outfit can be made from sheets and colored fabrics.

Jellyfish and fish hanging on threads or fishing lines from the ceiling, algae along the walls, anchors and sea waves - all this holiday decor It’s easy to make from cardboard or whatman paper, but it will perfectly help create a sea mood.

Treats for Neptune Day

The food and its presentation at a children's summer camp depends entirely on the team of cooks. But if you want to completely immerse your children in the holiday atmosphere, you can get a little creative for Neptune Day and serve familiar dishes in a festive setting. Moreover, it will not take much time and will not require much effort.

Competitions and games for Neptune Day

Whatever your scenario for celebrating Neptune Day at summer camp, you can’t do without it. Of course, the holiday itself implies that children will prevail. We offer you several competitions and relay races for the Neptune holiday that will help make this day even more fun.

  1. Diving. Children are divided into teams. Each team is given a pair of fins and a glass of water. The first participant stands on the starting line, puts fins on his feet, picks up a glass of water and lifts it above his head, finding himself “underwater.” At the signal, the movement begins. Having completed the required path, the first “submariner” passes the fins and glass to the next one. If water spills from the glass as you move, you need to add it. The winner is the team that swims “underwater” the fastest and splashes the least amount of water.
  2. Vodokhleb. 1 person is selected from each squad or team. His task: drink water from different positions in 1 minute. If a participant spills water from a glass or cannot drink any more, they are eliminated.

    Regulations for the Vodokhleb competition:
    - drink water holding the glass between back sides palms;
    - drink water holding the glass in the crook of your elbow;
    - drink water by placing the glass on your open palm;
    - drink water, holding the glass between your teeth and without using your hands;
    - drink water through a straw.

  3. Rescuers. Each team must have the same number of participants. To play you will need an inflatable or real Lifebuoy. Players put the circle on themselves over their heads, put their hands through it and take them off through their legs. Then they step over the circle, leaving it for the next player. Whose rescue team completes the task faster will be the winner.
  4. Water bombs. Balloons fill with water and tie tightly. The "bombs" are ready. With such projectiles, players can compete in turns or in teams: Throwing water “bombs” for accuracy and range. Knocking down targets. In teams, passing a water “bomb” over their heads at speed. The team whose balloon bursts loses.

Now you have a lot interesting ideas, how you can spend Neptune Day in a fun and interesting way. Unforgettable summer experiences for you and your children!

Who's ready for diving?

Play with the little mermaid?

Since the release of Disney's The Little Mermaid, these mysterious sea creatures have captured the hearts of girls of all ages.

Therefore, it is not surprising that different variants costumes depicting these charming characters.

In the summer, kindergartens and summer camps always host a fun holiday called “Neptune’s Day” or “Neptune’s Festival”! The names are different.

If you don't want to spend time and effort making a mermaid costume for a girl with your own hands, the easiest way is to buy or rent one. In the store you can only choose what they offer you, but it’s also easy to make it yourself original costume- and your girl will look like little Ariel! The little mermaid costume consists of several parts (elements).

In addition to the swimsuit and ponytail, you need to make sure that the costume includes a head decoration - a tiara or a small crown, as well as various other accessories - beads and bracelets.

I offer a master class on making an element of the Little Mermaid costume - a tiara.

For production you needed:

Shells vary in size and color;

Headband (any kind you can find in the house);

Plastic pearl beads;

Plastic bags in transparent, blue and turquoise colors;

Glue gun

Preparation method

I took a regular headband and carefully wrapped it first with a transparent bag. Then I wrapped half of the headband in a blue bag, and the other half in turquoise. These colors, in my opinion, are very reminiscent of sea water.

Every time I go to the sea, I bring with me shells that I collect on the shore. Using a glue gun, I glued the shells to the finished base of the headband. In the center of the tiara I glued a large shell. I glued smaller shells from it in different directions. I added some pearl beads and glued them between the shells.

That's all - the diadem (or tiara) for the cute little mermaid is ready. Now mom needs to find pearl beads in her “stocks” different color. For example, such

I hope that these decorations will make the little mermaid costume beautiful and original.

From the Internet I learned that a diadem is a type of crown in the form of a crown that closes into a ring, while a tiara is an open subtype of a diadem.

I really don’t know what to call the decoration on the little mermaid’s head? But it seems to me that this is not the case.

The main thing is that it is comfortable for the child to wear this decoration on Neptune’s holiday, and that it looks original and beautiful!
