Template for homemade paper gift bag

This is a template that you can use as the basis for your package. But in fact, it is not necessary to adhere to the dimensions specified in the template - you can make a bag of the size that you need.

Also, your imagination is not limited in decoration - come up with new options, use base paper of different colors with different designs - everything is in your hands!

For the template you will need a sheet of thick paper 21 centimeters long and 11 centimeters wide. Cut it according to the diagram and fold along the dotted lines. Use double-sided tape to connect the sides of the bag.

Making gift bags: photo master class

For this master class you will need the following supplies:

- small pieces of paper for scrapbooking or colored paper and cardboard;

- thick paper for making the bag itself;

- double-sided tape and twine;

- a simple pencil, glue, eraser;

- scissors.

These simple items can be used to create a stunning gift bag.

Step 1. – Cut out the paper according to the template, fold it along the dotted lines. Connect the sides of the bag using double-sided tape.

Step 2 – Cut two pieces of twine about 15-10 centimeters long for the handles of the bag.

Step 3.- Take scrapbooking paper or cardboard and a plain colored paper. Cut them into rectangles, the length of which is equal to the length of the bag, and the width is about 10 centimeters. Glue pieces of twine to the top of the bag using these rectangles. (see photos for the master class).

What do you need to make a paper bag?

Making paper bags does not require any special skills. First of all, you need to decide on the paper. If you want the package to last for a long time and does not tear, it is recommended to use laminated paper, which is a moisture-resistant material. You can also take a thick packing slip of the required size.

Also, to make a paper bag with your own hands, you will need scissors, a pencil, a ruler, glue for paper or (9-12 mm), eyelets, a machine for punching them (or tape for handles) and cardboard. It is not always used and serves to make the package more durable.

How to make a paper bag?

First of all, you should outline the size of the future package in height, length and width. A drawing is drawn on the back of the prepared sheet of paper using a pencil and ruler.

You should start with vertical lines. We place the first mark, retreating 1.5-2 cm from the left edge of the sheet. This area is necessary for gluing. Next, measure the distance from the first mark, equal to the length of the package, and draw a second line. The next label will determine the width of the package. Then we mark the length again and then the width. Each subsequent mark begins to be measured from the previous one. Thus, we should get a drawing of the package in a spread on a sheet of paper.

Now you need to draw horizontal lines. For the first one, you should retreat about 3-4 cm from the top of the sheet. From this line, measure a distance equal to the height of the package, and put marks for the next one, where the bottom will be. Its size depends on the width of the paper bag. The diagram below shows what the finished markup should look like.

Gluing a paper bag

First you need to assemble the sleeve. To do this, glue or tape is applied to a small vertical strip on the left side. The right edge is glued to it. When working with glue, be sure to ensure that it does not protrude onto the front of the bag.

All that remains is to make the bottom of the paper bag with your own hands. Cut out a rectangle from cardboard that will match the size of the bottom. We make a fold along the line that is located at the bottom of the package and open it. We put a piece of cardboard inside and apply a little glue to the middle. First we lay the short sides, and then the long ones. Coat the edges with glue and iron the bottom.

Making handles for the package

Most often, handles for paper bags are made from decorative lace, but you can also use braid or other materials. The main thing is that they are durable. It is necessary to cut two pieces of cord of the same size. It is recommended to lightly singe their edges so that they do not unravel.

Now you need to punch holes into which the handles will be inserted. To make the bag more durable, we glue strips of cardboard under the folded top. Using a grommet machine, make two holes on the front and back sides of the bag, punching through the paper along with the cardboard. The holes should be located in the place where the handles are planned to be attached. If you don't have a grommet machine, you can make holes with a hole punch.

All that remains is to insert the handles. We pass the lace or ribbon through both holes located on one side of the bag. We tie knots at the ends so that they are on the inside. That's all, the paper bag is made with your own hands.

Additional decor

Bags can be decorated with any available means and materials. These can be various applications cut out of colored paper, bows, buttons and even dry leaves. In this case, it all depends on your imagination. In general, making paper bags is a creative process and requires an appropriate approach.

In addition to decorating the package itself, you can come up with unusual handles. They can also be of any suitable material. You can not insert handles at all, but simply wrap the top of the bag.

Now you know how to make a paper bag, and you don’t have to waste time looking for gift wrapping, but make exclusive packaging with your own hands.

• After this, work on the bottom of the product. To do this, fold the bottom of the bag towards the central part by 7 cm.
• Bend the edge of the bottom that is adjacent to the surface of the table, bend the side parts to the middle of the bottom.
• Fold the side parts of the bottom of the product again towards the middle so that one of them rests slightly on the second.
• Glue the application area.
• If necessary, use a hole punch to make holes in the top and thread pieces of ribbon through them, tying the ends into knots inside the bag.
• Such bags can be decorated different ways. For example, attach a ribbon bow, applique, etc.

This is how easy it is to make a paper bag with your own hands. However, there are other types of paper packaging that are just as easy to make.

Kraft paper option

If you understand the intricacies, it’s easy to understand how to make a paper bag with your own hands. To create a beautiful package, you should act consistently and carefully so as not to spoil the craft. As a result, you will end up with a gorgeous piece that can be decorated to taste, or you can leave it in its original form.

For this gift, you can make a paper shirt and tie with your own hands.

To do this you will need a rectangular A4 sheet. It needs to be folded in half, highlighting a line in the center, and then straightened out. The left and right parts need to be bent, connecting in the center along the original line. The upper corners should be folded outward - these will be the sleeves of the shirt.

Turn the sheet over with the back side up and the sleeves down, fold a 4 cm line towards you at the top. Turn the sheet over again to the outside and fold the corners to the center line - you get a collar. Lift the lower part up, folding the product in half and sliding it under the corners of the stand. That's it: the shirt is ready, all that remains is to add the tie.

Idea No. 1. Cone-shaped packaging

A charming bag with a small gift inside, decorated with a butterfly and a small note on which you can write a wish or the name of the person for whom the gift is intended.

Step 1

From gift paper We make a cone in the shape of a funnel, and to prevent it from opening, we fix the junction of the paper with a stapler or double-sided tape. It is advisable to take thick paper that can withstand the weight of the gift.

Idea No. 2. Holiday package with ribbon

Very unusual, but at the same time simple idea holiday gift wrapping, an excellent solution for a New Year's gift.

You will need:

• Satin ribbon
  Wrapping
  Scissors
  Buttons
  Hole puncher
  A book or box that will become the basis for the package

Step 1

We wrap a small book with gift paper, securing the edges with tape, but do not glue one side together.

Step 2

Use a hole punch to pierce the open side of the wrapping paper, and thread ribbons through the holes created to secure the gift inside. We tie a bow, add decor, greeting card- and the gift wrapping is ready.

Idea No. 3. DIY New Year's package

In the last paragraph, we will talk about a bag for gifts with your own hands. After following the simple instructions, you will have a paper bag with handles in which you can place a large gift.

You will need:

• Wrapping
  Scotch
  Glue
  A piece of paper from which we will cut pens

Step 1

We fold the paper in half and glue the free edges with tape from the inside. If you can find some tape bright color or with a decorative pattern, it is better, of course, to use it - this way you can securely fasten the edges of the future bag on both sides without sacrificing appearance.

Step 2

We fold the bottom, which will soon become the bottom of the bag, as in the pictures below, securing the edge with tape at the end.

Step 3

We cut out the handles and glue them to the bag that we made in the second step. To create loops, you can use ribbons or thick paper. The loops need to be glued to tape or attached to the bag using a stapler. You can sometimes find blanks of such “handles” in craft stores; by using them, you will significantly reduce the time it takes to create such gift bags. An impromptu package for New Year's gifts is ready.

So, a master class on paper bags is for those who are interested in making not only gifts, but also packaging with their own hands.

1. Take a sheet of paper. I took a regular, white, A4 size. We also need narrow double-sided tape or glue.

We wrap the edge of the sheet, slightly wider than the strip of tape. We fold the other edge towards it so that it slightly overlaps the first fold (approximately 1-2 mm)

2. Glue the edge using double-sided tape. You can also use glue, but make sure that it does not leak over the edges and wait until it dries.

3. Decide how thick your package will be - we determine it by eye. And carefully bend our paper “tube”, keeping the edges parallel. This is how we get smooth edges of our “parallelepiped”.

4. Make an inward fold on the sides of the bag. We align the edge to the edge so that it is parallel.

5. Now we make the bottom of the bag. We look at the side part and measure from below a distance approximately equal to the width of the side. We bend the bottom of the bag first in one direction, then in the opposite direction.

6. We make the bottom like an envelope - as if we were packing a box in paper: we wrap the corners inward at 450.

We glue the “ears” with double-sided tape or regular glue.

7. To make the top of the paper bag look neater, fold the edge inward. In addition, if we want to make a bag with handles, then it will be stronger.

We make handles from tape - using a needle or through holes (if you have a hole punch).

Homemade paper bags are also good because you don’t have to make ordinary handles, but use your imagination - for example, stretch a ribbon through one or two pairs of holes and tie a bow:

Or wrap the top of the bag a couple of times and secure it with tape (loose tea is often packaged in a similar way, only instead of tape there is a flexible strip with wire).
