Creation of beautiful and high-quality covers for coolers. Do-it-yourself bottle case: how to make an original decoration using different techniques Determine the dimensions, cut them out

Increasingly, residents of modern megacities are resorting to the services of water delivery companies. In almost every home there is a cooler or pump with a bulky bottle. Often these units are difficult to fit into the interior of the kitchen, but for modern craftswomen nothing is impossible: they came up with and brought to life the creation of covers for large bottles.

This practice “spread over” from bags for small bottles and “clothing” for vessels with alcohol. If we know how to beautifully drape small containers, why not use the skill for large, nineteen-liter bottles?

Moreover, for this you do not have to buy a large piece of fabric - you can make a cover from the scraps left over from the main sewing. Or use them for the bottom, and make the “body” one color.

The prices for some fabrics are steep, so many of us simply don’t raise our hands to throw away scraps. Most needlewomen-seamstresses have a lot of such pieces left over; they lie idle for a long time. Therefore, you can “adapt” them to decorate a large (and not only large) bottle.

To do this, we cut the shreds into small squares - they do not have to be the same, the remains are simply trimmed and sewn on a machine. But united by a common geometric shape, the rags will look more beautiful. The bottom of a standard bottle, which is delivered by water delivery, has a diameter of 27 centimeters, and its circumference is 85 cm. It is better to take with a reserve of 28-30 cm and, accordingly, 86-88 cm.

Making a cape for large containers is quite easy. It is necessary to sew the bottom - make a square shape of the cover or cut out a circle. We prepare a pattern from cardboard, cut off the sewn fabric of the bottom. If necessary, we overcast and beautifully stitch the squares in the center. To give it a shape, you can line the patchwork bottom with padding polyester or other voluminous fabric. It is also a good idea to sew in a cardboard base - if the bottle stands upside down in the cooler, over time the edges of the case will not fall off or wrinkle. If the bottle has a pump, this makes no sense.

For the main cover you will need a meter of fabric in length and 55 cm in width. If you want to make a neckline with a tie, the width should be larger in order to bend and sew a pocket for an elastic band or braid. A tightened neck is not necessary for “cooler” bottles, but with “pump” bottles, a loose cap will fall off.

Sewing a cover for a large round bottle is quite simple. We already have the bottom, but the main fabric needs to be measured according to the bottle, trimmed around the edges and sewn to the bottom. To make the case look stylish and elegant, we remove small folds in the fabric, then the “bottle clothes” will look more voluminous and neater. The little thing can be decorated with pockets, beads or seed beads, or a unique inscription can be embroidered.

And if you don’t want to sew, just buy a wide ribbon and creatively drape the bottle.

It’s even easier to buy a large square of fabric, place a bottle in its center, raise the edges and tie them beautifully at the neck. And the original case will be ready in two minutes!

Beautiful knitted cover on a bottle will change it beyond recognition.

After this master class, you will no longer be indifferent to glass packaging. This decor will transform a boring container, turning it into a flower vase or gift. Kids will be happy to drink healthy drinks from such a bottle, be it juice or milk. All that remains is to figure out how to tie a bottle with knitting needles in order to get a beautiful result with your own hands quickly and with maximum pleasure.

Craft materials

To create a knitted bottle cover you will need:

  • acrylic threads of two colors,
  • knitting needles (No. 2),
  • scissors,
  • threads,
  • centimeter and needle.

And, of course, the bottle itself, in this master class we used baby juice containers.

To beautifully tie a bottle, you can use leftover yarn left over from knitting clothes, or unnecessary things, for example, you can unravel a boring sweater or cardigan for a new cover.

Master class on knitting a cover

Carefully study the instructions on how to knit a bottle case with your own hands, and then get to work, following the photo in the knitting process.

Measure the bottle with a centimeter to correctly calculate the number of loops. Depending on the thickness of the thread, it will be different (here it turned out to be about 3 loops per 1 cm). The presented pattern of the canvas makes it possible not to change their number, but at the same time the cover will fit according to the “shape” of the bottle.

Cast on 48 loops plus 2 edge loops with pink thread (the circumference of the widest part of the bottle is 17 cm) using any method known to you.

Knit 22 rows with a double elastic band (front row: 2 knit and 2 purl, purl - according to the drawing, but essentially the same 2 knit and 2 purl in a different order).

Now start creating a diagonal braid, for which you switch to a thread beige colour, which tie tightly to the leading pink one.

Turning the cover back and forth, knit 8 rows to form an even column, with the front row being the last.

Knit 3 more knit stitches.

Unfold the fabric again and make 6 purl loops so that there are 3 left on the second needle (they are no longer involved in the diagonal braid pattern).

Knit a stitch similar to the first one in 8 rows, and on the last knit stitch, pick up the next 3 loops.

Thus, constantly turning the future bottle cover and repeating the stitches, knit a diagonal braid.

Return to the pink thread, tying it to the leading beige thread (do not cut the ends too close to the knot, as acrylic is quite slippery and there is a good chance that the threads will come undone under the tension).

Knit 28 rows, then repeat the diagonal braid without changing the color of the thread (if you wish, you can switch to beige again). At the last stage, make 5 rows in garter stitch and bind off the fabric (knit 2 loops together, return the resulting loop back, knit 2 together again and repeat until the end of the row).

Sew the knitted cover with neat stitches, turning it inside out.

Now braid a braid using threads of two colors, fixing both ends with knots, and weave the cover through the holes that formed in diagonal braid. This will decorate the product and make it more interesting.

The work is ready! You can admire it, use it for its intended purpose, or wrap it as a gift.

A step-by-step tutorial on how to knit a cover for a glass bottle with your own hands was prepared by Yulia Kosich, photo by the author. Especially for the online magazine “Women’s Hobbies”.

There are a lot of ideas for creating knitted bottle covers. For the most part, it all depends on the knitting method you choose (knitting or crocheting), the type of yarn and, of course, the idea that you want to embody in this bottle knitted garment.

In addition, you can make knitted bottles themselves - a great way to combat drunkenness.

If you have chosen our original way of fighting alcoholism, namely creating a knitted bottle of beer or champagne, then in this case you will need to knit a case in the shape of the bottle and fill it with cotton wool or padding polyester. Glass bottle in this case it will not be needed.

A knitted bottle decoration can serve as a kind of holiday gift. Giving, for example, a bottle of champagne for New Year is a banality, but giving the same champagne, but decorating the bottle in an original way- this is already a sign of attention, respect, reverence, because such a gift option claims to be at least a work of art and, at most, a masterpiece.

In addition to the “decorative” function, tied bottles can also serve a completely utilitarian purpose. For example, a knitted cover for a beer bottle is a way to warm your hands while drinking this drink. Men whose hobby is football will appreciate such a gift.

You can also crochet a bottle to create an original vase. Such a stylish handmade bottle vase can become not only an interior decoration, but also a wonderful gift for a friend for a birthday or other memorable date.

Knitted bottle cover

The easiest way to make a knitted cover for a bottle with knitting needles is to knit a rectangular fabric in any pattern you like, while the length of the fabric in length should correspond to the height of the bottle before tapering, and the length of the fabric in height should be equal to the circumference of the bottle. In this case, you won’t have to knit the bottom.

If you are new to knitting, you can choose garter stitch as a pattern. The best yarn to use is woolen threads medium thickness. You can take plain yarn, or you can use melange or section-dyed yarn - then your knitted bottle cover will be brighter.

When the knitted bottle cover is ready, wrap it around the bottle and sew the edges with a mattress stitch. You can also use buttons to join the edges of the case and secure the case to the bottle. In this case, you can use holes in the pattern as holes for buttons (if the buttons are small), or make hanging loops.

Knit cover stockinette stitch is also possible, but in this case you will have to take into account that the edges knitted fabric will twist. This property of stockinette knitted fabric can be used as a decorative element when creating a knitted cover. In this case, it is necessary to knit not in the transverse direction, that is, the length of the fabric along the line of casting on loops should correspond to the circumference of the bottle, and the length of the fabric in height should correspond to the length of the bottle before the narrowing begins. More experienced knitters can use arans as a pattern - all kinds of braids and plaits. You need to knit such a cover using circular or stocking needles - in this case the cover will be seamless. Knitting with arans involves knitting the cover not before the bottle begins to narrow, but up to the neck. You need to finish knitting the cover with an elastic band. It is not necessary to decrease the loops in order to knit the case strictly according to the shape of the bottle; instead, you can use a satin ribbon, which should be tied around the neck of the bottle and thereby secure the upper part of the case. It is not necessary for a cover knitted with aran to have a bottom, but you can do it if you wish.

You can also use knitting needles to make knitted toys for a bottle/ For example, make a scarf and knitted hat on a bottle or on a Christmas tree as a toy for this reason.

If you don’t have the time or desire to tie the entire bottle, then you can decorate the bottle easier -.

Provide such a knitted flower with a knitted braid, the length of which will correspond to the circumference of the bottle, and secure such a “garter” to the bottle.

Finally, by making a knitted bottle cover, you can make a miniature tabletop Christmas tree. This cover can be knitted or crocheted, the main thing is the choice of yarn. The yarn should be long pile (grass). If it is with lurex, you can make the Christmas tree even more elegant. Additionally decorate a knitted Christmas tree from a bottle with rain or small multi-colored ones and you will get a real forest beauty.

And finally - simple knitted clothes for bottles

The easiest way to tie a bottle with yarn is... wrapping the bottle with yarn.

To ensure that the yarn does not slip and it is easier for you to secure it at the base of the bottle, we recommend that you first cover the entire outer surface of the bottle with paper.

Use PVA as glue as it does not leave marks. When the paper is glued, thickly lubricate the glued paper with PVA so that the paper is literally saturated with glue and, without waiting for the glue to dry, begin wrapping the bottle with yarn. You can use plain yarn, as well as section-dyed yarn - in this case, beautiful smooth transitions from one color to another will be created.

Or you can use yarn of several colors - in this case you will get a striped bottle. Instead of yarn, twine (hemp rope) can be used as a material for wrapping a bottle using the same technology.

How to crochet a bottle video

And another video on how to crochet a bottle

On hot days you can’t do without water, and it’s good when you can drink from a well or buy drinking water in a supermarket. But what if you went for a walk in the park, went on an excursion, or are on a bus and the stop is not soon? Of course, take water with you; it is most convenient to pack the bottle in a special handbag.

Bright sewn or knitted by mother's caring hands, will be especially useful for preschoolers and older children during summer holidays, school trips and sports activities.

For the simplest frame model, you will need approximately 1.5 meters of dense braid about 2 cm wide. To correctly calculate the amount of material, we will take measurements with a sewing measuring tape: the circumference of the bottle at the widest point at the top and bottom, and also, from the top measurement, the circumference at height through the bottom.

Cut pieces of braid equal to these measurements, plus 1.5 cm for overlap. We will sew two girth rings in width, sew a vertical braid to them, cutting them to length after fitting. The bottle is perfectly fixed, and the packaging is almost weightless.

The Quiltik craftswoman from the Crafts Fair offers to combine beauty with the recycling of rags. This cover consists of three layers: an outer one, sewn using a patchwork technique, a synthetic padding/foam rubber lining, and an inner one made of finishing fabric. The layers need to be fastened together and quilted, sewn to the round bottom, and the top edge tucked in.

Then stitch the top and insert a round braid or lace to tighten the top. The bottom is equal to the diameter of the bottle (the size at the widest point) plus the seam allowance, the height of the handbag is equal to the height of the bottle plus the seam and hem allowance. We'll sew a handle onto the finished case; it's great if the length can be changed, like a regular bag, using metal fittings.

Foamiran is perfect for a handbag - durable, light, bright material. We cut it directly on the bottle using the modeling method, cut out the bottom, and make cuts on the vertical part from the bottom so that the material easily follows the shape of the container. We sew the parts together with bright braid or thick synthetic thread. We will weave a handle from several multi-colored cords. Decorate the outside of the case with an applique or draw a picture with a permanent marker.

Knitters can also show their imagination and knit a handbag in the style of an amigurumi toy or just an openwork one. The set for a baby bottle and a bag for all sorts of baby little things looks beautiful. The container can be inserted from above or from the side by making a special cut with a zipper, like a pencil case. By the way, this pencil case can also simultaneously serve as a toy.

For work, use light, durable yarn, preferably cotton or acrylic. You will need very little thread, no more than 100 g, just the right idea for using small balls. You can knit not only with crochet, but also with knitting needles, and you can make trim with crochet. Such beautiful accessory It’s nice to take with you, now your baby will definitely not forget a bottle of water at home.
