You can show your imagination and make crocheted snowflake crafts with an original idea. This is how it is here - not just a crocheted snowflake, but like a costume for a small crocheted doll. Or like snowflakes tying round pieces of postcard.

You can also crochet a snowflake connect to felt base- and we get a Christmas tree toy with a clear round outline and a bright background like a white snowflake.

Can fit a snowflake into a metal ring and decorate the Christmas tree (or turn it into jewelry). Metal rings can be purchased in the sewing department of the store (the same place where buckles, pins and buttons are sold).

DIY NEW YEAR'S CARDS DECOR

Often we don't just want to say warm congratulations out loud... but we want our holiday wishes to remain in the form of text on a card. Then the creative work of our caring hands will help add warmth to our words. Why fill stamped, soulless postcards from the store with heartfelt words? It’s better to make a postcard with your own hands and decorate it with a knitted snowflake. Any pattern, thin threads and a small hook help us create a miniature openwork snowflake– which will look gentle on the surface of a New Year’s card.

You can have a snowflake just stick it on(with adhesive pencil) ... Or you can use a snowflake in Place it in a through-hole frame cut out in the postcard. You can make holes along the edges of such a “window” and not glue the snowflake in, but tie it to the postcard using these holes.

Or you can simply hang a snowflake on a card on a string.

Or if instead of a Christmas tree you only have a small composition of spruce branches hanging on the door or wall. This is also made from spruce legs, golden ribbon and crocheted snowflakes.

Snowflakes can also decorate a flat fake Christmas tree on the wall. How to make such a Christmas tree from a garland is quite clear. We simply glue double-sided tape to the wall (silhouette in the shape of a Christmas tree) and glue our fluffy garland to the sticky silhouette. We get tree outline on the wall– and now you can hang crocheted snowflakes by the strings. If the wall is wooden and you don’t mind it, then you can stuff small nails and attach a garland and snowflakes to them.

Or, if you don’t mind the time and threads, you can crochet a chain of small snowflakes for a whole garland for the New Year tree.

You can crochet snowflakes small compositions without spruce legs - only with branches. Crystal pendants (icicles similar to pieces of ice) and silver birds will complement the decor.

Knitted snowflakes hang from the rungs of a stepladder... or fasten them to a ceiling beam (so that they hang beautifully over the New Year's table).

Snowflakes can be knitted from colored threads and hung on a string above the fireplace... or along the doorway... or along the top cabinet in the kitchen (convenient if the cabinet doors slide up).

White snowflakes of the same design (that is, crocheted according to the same pattern) look good. This garland can be simply attached to the wall.

Or you can knit snowflakes of different designs - according to the patterns with different patterns and different sizes. It also turns out to be a magical decoration for the New Year's holiday. Especially if the color of the snowflakes matches the overall color design of the interior.

Or you can hang snowflakes with a hook on the curtain rod - each on its own string (as in the photo below).

Crocheted openwork beauties can be decorated into a one-piece pendant design. Here are two models of such a snowflake.
MODEL #1 – We knit snowflakes in three sizes – large, medium and small. And we string them on a thread - first a large one, then several crystal beads... a medium one... more beads and a small one.

MODEL No. 2 – take a metal ring (you can bend it from wire) and tie it with hooks using simple single crochet stitches (try this - it’s easy - hook the thread under the edge of the ring and crochet a stitch as usual). The number of columns on the ring must be adjusted to such a number - so that it is a multiple of the rapport (the size of the repeating pattern - the size of a snowflake petal).

Or you can come up with a pattern for a snowflake pendant on the fly... and then it is only important that the total number of columns be divided by six.

And then we crochet another snowflake - the size is such that it fits inside the ring.

You can also fit the ready-made snowflake into the ring– pull its rays to the ring and secure with threads. These crocheted rings with snowflakes can be hung on the window. Either in a doorway, or on a wall. On beautiful ribbons.

You can also attach knitted snowflakes to a hair hoop - and we will get a beautiful kokoshnik crown for the Snow Maiden for a matinee in kindergarten.

The hoop must first be wrapped with a white ribbon... and as you wrap it, the ribbon must be secured with a thread and a needle (so that the layers of the ribbon do not slip off) - and then hard starched (or candied) knitted snowflakes must be sewn to this ribbon.

Or the hoop itself can be tied with single crochets(tie simply by crocheting under the hoop) - and then on the comb of these columns start knitting the RAYS of one large snowflake at once. As in the photo with a blue kokoshnik - which consists of 5 rays of a large snowflake pattern. You can find a diagram for tying such a kokoshnik of the Snow Maiden take snowflakes from any diagram... And simply increase its rays ... come up with a continuation of the pattern - any combination of columns and arches from chains of air loops.

PATTERNS FOR CROCHING SNOWFLAKES.

Well, now let's move on to the diagrams. Each snowflake takes on its own pattern of just THREE ELEMENTS... chain stitch... single crochet... single crochet (or double crochet).
If you know how to knit these THREE ELEMENTS, then you can knit ANY PATTERN - for ANY SNOWFLAKE - according to ANY PATTERN.

All these different snowflakes(from photo above) knitted too using THREE ELEMENTS of knitting.
Look at the diagrams below - here only double crochets... only single crochets... and only double crochets.
But the pattern turns out different - because the alternation of these elements is new every time.

Like alternating notes in music. There are only 7 notes – and the music is new every time.

Therefore, snowflakes are CONVENIENT TO COMPOSE... just knit in the round... and come up with a pattern as you go. All you need is to decide in advance how many rays the snowflake will have - and bring the BASIC CIRCLE to such a number of columns in the circle - that it is a MULTIPLE of the number of rays (that is, divided by the number of rays without a remainder)….
For example six-ray snowflakes– the number of loops in the base circle (round middle) should be 18... or 24... or 30... or 36... or 42... or 48... and so on. That is, the number of columns in the circle should be divisible by 6.

HOW TO DRY snowflakes.

And further main secret– after knitting snowflakes they need to be shaped. So that they are hard and callous. There are three ways to HARDEN snowflakes - three solutions.

First way. Starch and dry flat. D We eat a solution of 3 tablespoons of starch in 1 tablespoon of cold water.

Moisten the snowflake with starch solution and flattened on a sheet of cardboard- and so that the snowflake stretches well, stuck pins- so that the snowflake stretches and does not shrink back - but dries in this straightened form. Then it will retain its solid form, hardened by starch.

Second way. Sugar a snowflake. Let's do sugar syrup- for 1 glass of water, 16 tablespoons of sugar - put everything on the fire so that the sugar dissolves. Dip the snowflake into the syrup. We take it out, place it on a sheet of cardboard covered with polyethylene - flatten the snowflake, secure it with pins.

Third way. Soak in gelatin. We buy a bag of edible gelatin. And prepare the solution according to the instructions on the bag (soak, then heat until the gelatin dissolves - and immerse the snowflake in the gelatin syrup... or apply the syrup to the snowflake with a brush.

HOW TO CROCHET A SNOWFLAKE.

KNITTING A SNOWFLAKE starts FROM THE MIDDLE... from the center... and gradually row by row - circle by circle the snowflake is overgrown with lace petals.

What does this process look like? very clearly visible from the master class below... Here you can see how a snowflake is crocheted according to the pattern. By the way, these are probably the fastest snowflakes to knit - and they keep their shape well even without starching- due to the fact that they have very clear contour with MULTI-ROW piping.

IF YOU already have experience in knitting napkins or lace, then you can understand the snowflake knitting pattern without patterns - JUST BY THE PHOTO.
After all, even in relatively small photos, all the air loops, single crochets and double crochets are clearly visible. Just print the snowflake on the printer (you can enlarge the photo beforehand) and knit from such a photo sample.

But he's beautiful openwork crochet snowflake. Beautiful holes and neat piping along the edge create the effect of a lace pattern. Despite the complex patterned crochet, crocheting such a snowflake is quite simple. The diagram is attached - all the same familiar CHAIRS... single crochet... double crochet... and that's it. Nothing new - just alternations and quantity.

For beginner knitters it will be difficult to figure out how to knit second row in the diagram above. There are long rays-arches along the edges of which loops of air are scattered. Therefore, below I give a picture with step by step description knitting this complex second row with rays.

These are such beautiful ideas... if I can find more beautiful diagram... or a diagram that will inspire me so much that I won’t be lazy to draw it manually - I’ll post it in this article below.
