DIY Christmas tree soap. Soap making using the Herringbone mold

You can feel the holiday already starting to feel in the air! Are you still thinking about what to give your loved ones? New Year? What if you make it and give it as a gift? DIY New Year's soap? Yes, such that ah! For example, in the form of a snow-covered Christmas tree.

I think that now many people have demotivation in their heads, like “Yes, I don’t know how”, or “I don’t have beautiful shape for soap”, etc. So, now I will show you with my own example, how to make Christmas tree soap. You will see that there is nothing supernatural or very complicated in this matter.

And according to my soap-making tradition, I again found a soap mold not far from the trash can :). No, I didn’t poke around in the bucket, I just saved another one plastic bottle from throwing away. And this is what came of it.

Ingredients:

    • transparent soap base – 120 g;
    • fir essential oil – 15 drops;
    • oil grape seed– ½ teaspoon;
    • titanium dioxide - ¼ teaspoon;
    • food colors green and brown;
    • alcohol in a spray bottle.

And also tools for soap making: about 5 cups, wooden skewers, pipettes, a piece of foil, tape. And a small plastic bottle.

Herringbone soap, master class

Preparatory stage for creating Christmas tree soap

To make home soap making a joy, you need to make sure that all the ingredients and tools are at hand. So the first thing I do is dilute powder dyes. Soap making stores sell ready-made liquid dyes. But if you don’t have those on hand, food ones will do.

At the same time, dilute titanium dioxide in a teaspoon of glycerin. You can do it in water, but it will take longer.

Mix the oils in a separate glass.

We make a small bath measuring 3x4 cm from foil.

Making a tree stump from soap base

Our DIY New Year's soap will have a stump, like a real Christmas tree.

To do this, cut 10 grams of base into small cubes and melt it in a microwave oven or in a water bath. As soon as the base has melted, add 2 drops of brown dye to it and stir thoroughly. Stir until the base has cooled slightly. And then add 2-3 drops of the oil mixture.

We pour this whole mass into our improvised foil form and let it harden a little. It is important to catch that state of the mass when it is still warm, but no longer flows.

This is how we take it out of the mold and roll it into a roll. It’s more convenient to do this with the same foil (based on the principle of real rolls).

How to make a Christmas tree soap mold with your own hands

Now comes the fun part. I saw a lot of master classes on the Internet where they made Christmas tree soap. But most of them use special forms. We can do without this “luxury”. Let’s make our own unique Christmas tree soap with our own hands.

So, we take a plastic bottle, cut off the neck and bottom from it (the bottom, by the way, can also be used in home soap making, because it turns out very beautiful). Now we cut out such a sector from the middle part. The radius of my workpiece is 7.5 cm. Using tape, we connect the edges of the sector and get a cone. The wider the sector, the wider and stockier your Christmas tree will be. Mine, on the contrary, came out slimmer and taller.

For the first time, you can lightly lubricate the mold with caring oil. Place it with the cone down in a deep container.

How to make Christmas tree soap from soap base

Cut our soap base into small pieces. But before that, be sure! cut off 20 grams and set aside. Melt in the microwave, then add 3-4 drops of green dye (depending on concentration). Stir until it cools slightly.

Then add the entire volume of the oil mixture and stir. And pour some into the mold. Be sure to spray with alcohol. Cover the rest of the base with foil so that the esters do not evaporate.

This will be the bottom tier of our Christmas tree soap. Well, since it’s bottom, that means we stick a stump in the middle. Until the soap base hardens, you will have to hold the stumps a little with your fingers. You just need to do this very carefully, without shaking it.

You see that the stump no longer falls through - let go and let the base harden. Half an hour later, I took out the bottom part of the future New Year's soap. But since it had not yet completely cooled down, it did not want to go out. Therefore, advice:

The soap will come out better if you put the mold in the freezer for a few minutes before removing it.

It’s already quite good and even looks like a Christmas tree. But I decided to complicate the task. Making the second tier of Christmas tree soap.

We scrape the top of the head with a skewer for better adhesion. Once greased, the soap is a little greasy, so I recommend spritzing the top with rubbing alcohol as well.

We drown the rest of our green soap base. Cool again a little (at this stage this is necessary so that the plastic does not float). In addition, the heating still evaporates the essential oil, so I advise adding 3 more drops of oil to the melted mass.

Now we fill it into our form, but not to the top, like the previous layer, but a little above half. And install the bottom part of the soap tree into the cone. It’s also worth holding it with your fingers first.

We do the third tier in the same way (although the two-tier one also looks great). I got a voluminous, slender beauty. We cut off the resulting sagging with a knife, trim the stump so that the tree stands straight.

How to make a snow-covered Christmas tree from soap

But I wanted to make not just a Christmas tree, but a real New Year’s soap with my own hands. As expected, with snow (and not what we have :)). Let's powder the branches of the Christmas tree. At the bottom of each tier, use a skewer to make a grid.

Melt the set aside base, add dissolved titanium dioxide and a couple of drops of EM. Be sure to spray the mesh on the Christmas tree with alcohol. And now carefully pour out our white soap base in small portions with a spoon.

Do not try to pour a thick layer at once. Do it in several stages: pour one layer, after a few seconds the second, etc. Gradually, the base in the glass will begin to cool and harden; it is important for us to use a well-heated base. So, if necessary, we melt it again.

Now you need to work with your fingers. The snow probably turned out in waves, and in some places it was very coarse. Therefore, we are now carefully comparing and smoothing out some unevenness. The process is not the fastest, but treat it like meditation. And then the result will definitely please you.

Now it's real DIY New Year's soap. What do you think? I also like the fact that I didn’t have to buy a special mold to create this masterpiece.

By the way, on this wonderful holiday you can surprise your loved ones not only with Christmas trees, but also with soapy sweets, for example, lollipops. Making them even easier. Here, look for yourself: .

Today we will tell you how to make a gift with your own hands - Christmas tree soap with mother-of-pearl. Such a gift is very pleasant to give and even more pleasant to receive during the New Year and Christmas holidays. A master class with step-by-step photographs is conducted by Elena Tsaritsyna.

Themed souvenirs are especially popular for the New Year. Symbols of the coming year, snowmen, snowflakes, Santa Clauses, Christmas trees. I purchased suitable form for soap - a Christmas tree, then I set about making fragrant soap.

For Christmas tree-shaped soap we will need:

  • transparent soap base, 50 g;
  • fat-soluble green pigment;
  • green glitter;
  • gold mother of pearl;
  • plastic mold for Christmas tree soap;
  • grape base oil;
  • vitamins E and A, 1 drop each;
  • Lemon essential oil, 2 drops;
  • Pine essential oil, 1 drop;
  • alcohol in a spray bottle.

Master class "DIY New Year's soap in the shape of a Christmas tree"

Cut the transparent base into cubes. Then we put it in a water bath to melt.

The plastic mold must be greased with oil. Otherwise, the soap will not come out of it. We take any oil.

To dilute the dry pigment, we need grape base oil, in it (about a tablespoon) we should grind the dye with a teaspoon until smooth. When the base becomes liquid, pour it into a glass.

We drip enough dye into it to get a beautiful green color for our future Christmas tree soap. Add glitter, as you like, and essential oils. Mix.

Pour the base into the mold and spray the surface with alcohol. This is necessary so that air bubbles come out of the soap.

Let the soap harden. At room temperature it will take half an hour to forty minutes, because the soap is small. Now we begin to remove it from the mold. She doesn't bend. Therefore, you should take it with the soap down and press your fingers on the mold in the center so that the soap separates from it. When you see that it has begun to move away from the walls, move to the edges. Do this carefully so as not to damage the mold. Thus, we completed the task and our soap was taken out.

Now we need to outline the outline and decorations of our Christmas tree. To do this, take gold-colored mother-of-pearl. Dip your fingertip into it and walk along the bulges of the soap. We get such beauty.

Haven't decided what gift to give to your family and friends, and the New Year is already very close, literally knocking on your window? We will help you. Let's make something incredible with our own hands, original craft, which will be remembered for a long time. Let's make soap in the shape of a Christmas tree. After all, she is the main symbol of this holiday. Follow the step-by-step instructions with photos during production, we wish you good luck in your work! It's not difficult at all!

To work you need:

  • clear soap base or pieces of regular clear soap
  • petrolatum
  • thin stick
  • napkin
  • cardboard
  • soap mold (large and medium square, you can take a Christmas tree and a larger square)
  • green dye
  • peppermint essential oil (4 drops). You can use oil with the scent of: tangerine, grapefruit, as well as perfume, aromatic oils, vanilla, honey, etc. For a moisturizing effect in soap, add almond oil, oils with vitamin E, mango and others. Take supplements in moderation. It all depends on desire or availability.
  • coconut flakes – 1–2 tsp
  • sparkles glitter – red, gold, blue
  • alcohol
  • Step-by-step instruction:

  1. We take a form for our future craft. We took a regular square one, you can take one in the shape of a Christmas tree (there is no difference) and cover it with Vaseline. It is necessary to cover it completely, since then problems may arise with removing our soap from the mold. There is also no need to overdo it (wipe off any excess with napkins or a towel, if any).
  2. Let's move on to a transparent soap base. Melt it in the microwave or in a water bath. Cooking in a microwave oven will take approximately 20–40 seconds, in a water bath it will take more than 3–5 minutes, since the water must first boil, and then the heating process will begin. The amount of soap base should match the prepared form.
  3. Add dye to our melted soap base Green colour. This should be done gradually, stirring, so that the color is uniform, and you see the coloring process itself and stop at the right stage, since adding too much at once will turn out the soap dark and inconspicuous. Stir with a stick. If you are using liquid dye, then for one form you will need 1-3 drops maximum. To make our soap smell delicious, add a couple of drops essential oil mint (you can use something else, or just color it - it depends on your tastes and preferences).
  4. Now let’s pour the resulting base of the color we need into the molds. The width of our spruce will depend on how thick the layer in the mold will be (we made it about 1 cm).

  5. While our base hardens, let's move on to the cardboard (if you poured the base directly into a spruce-shaped mold, then you skip this step). Let's draw a spruce blank on cardboard and cut it out.
  6. When the base has completely hardened, carefully remove it from the mold. If you still have problems removing the figure, then place the form in the freezer for 3-5 minutes. Hold for a maximum of 5 minutes. Then we take it out and pour it over with hot water. After these procedures there should be no problems.
  7. Since our shape was rectangular, we take a knife, place a cardboard blank on the soap and carefully use a knife to evenly cut out the shape of the spruce tree.

  8. Our main Christmas tree preparation is ready. Now we take a thin stick and paint it. We draw the trunk and branches so that the Christmas tree looks more voluminous (you can leave it in this version).
  9. Now take glitter or any other sparkles (you can use paint). Let's start with the gold color. Pour a little glitter onto the surface and blot off the excess (so that the main glitter gets stuck in the places drawn with a thin stick). Then we pour red and blue in the form of festive balloons. All glitter must be gently rubbed with a napkin so that it sticks.
  10. We drown the remaining majority of the transparent soap base, as described in detail in point 2. Add a little more mint essential oil to it (see the instructions for what oils and what you can add, it depends on your tastes, preferences, desires). And the last ingredient is coconut flakes. You need to add coconut flakes to the cooled and slightly thickened mass so that it does not all float to the top, but can be evenly distributed around the entire perimeter.

  11. Now we take a shape larger than the previous one, you can use that one, but then the Christmas tree needs to be cut at least a couple of centimeters less in length and width. We also lubricate it with Vaseline so that there are no problems with removal. Pour a little more than half of the first layer into the mold. Take a thin stick and draw several stripes at the end of the first layer to secure the layers together.

  12. Sprinkle the top of the first layer with alcohol; the Christmas tree should also be sprayed. Then we put our spruce on the first layer and fill in the second. We will make it thinner than the first one so that the tree can be better seen from the other side. We advise you to turn the spruce to this side with sparkles. Spray the top of the second layer with alcohol and wait for the soap to dry completely.
  13. We remove our soap from the mold (if necessary, you can trim the edges with a knife).

Our craft is ready. This beautiful Christmas tree standing in the snow from delicious coconut shavings is ready! We wish you good luck in your work! Use your imagination and creativity, add bright colors, oils and bring joy to your family and friends during the holidays!
