Easter can get very bright and interesting holiday for children. After all, children are always happy to help their mother decorate Easter cakes with white icing and colored sugar, paint eggs in different colors or put elegant stickers on them.
With your children, you can prepare Easter cards for relatives, hand-paint eggs and decorate your home for the holiday. But the child must be told about Easter, its traditions and history, and Great Lent in words that the child can understand.
Easter for children is, first of all, an introduction to history, which they may not yet fully understand and perceive. It is up to us to tell this story to children in such a colorful and accessible way that they are imbued with the atmosphere of the holy holiday.
So, in order for the story to be clear, colorful and interesting, we suggest you prepare illustrations depicting: Jesus Christ, God. And also the symbols of Easter: colored eggs, Easter cake and Easter cottage cheese. Accompany the story with illustrations. Then it will be easy and interesting for the child to listen to your story.

Tell a child about Easter.

You know that a holiday is coming soon, for which we will paint eggs, make Easter cottage cheese and bake Easter cakes. Do you know what this holiday is called? - Easter.
Do you know what Easter is called differently? - Resurrection of Christ.
This holiday is considered the most important holiday for all believers in God. It is the most solemn and joyful of all holidays.
Do you know why? Because on this day the greatest miracle on earth happened, which gave people hope for eternal life.

- The fact is that once upon a time Jesus Christ, the son of God, lived on earth. And Jesus Christ came to earth to help people and save them from death.

- Jesus Christ told people that if they stop sinning, then God will forgive them. And after death, their soul will go to Paradise, to God.

- Jesus Christ explained to all people that in order not to sin, you cannot do bad things, you cannot offend anyone, you must never deceive, you must always tell only the truth. This is what Jesus Christ himself always did.

- Many people, including the Tsar who ruled at that time, did not like it. The king did not want all people to become better and know the truth, because then he would not be able to rule.
And therefore the Tsar ordered to kill Jesus Christ if he did not stop doing good to people. But Jesus Christ was not afraid. He wanted to save people, so that people would become better people, so that they would stop sinning and God would forgive them and let them into heaven.
At that time, the most terrible and shameful punishment was crucifixion, because only bandits were killed this way.
And, in order to frighten people who wanted to become good, and to convince everyone that Jesus Christ is a deceiver, he, too, like a bandit, was crucified on the cross.

- After the death of Jesus Christ, they placed him in a special place for the dead - a tomb.
And after three days and three nights, Jesus Christ rose from the dead. Thus, he proved to people that everything he said was true and that if they did not sin, God would open Paradise for them. And after death, their soul will be able to live there even better. All people gained confidence that their soul could be immortal if they became better.

The day when Jesus Christ was resurrected was called Easter. And it became the most joyful and happiest day for all people.
That is why the first thing you should say on Easter Day, when you see someone: “Jesus is risen,” and in response they should say to you: “Truly he is risen.” And vice versa. The symbols of Easter are eggs, Easter cake and Easter cottage cheese.

The symbol is an egg.
The egg became a symbol of Easter because Jesus Christ was reborn to new life from the tomb. And from the shell of an egg is born new life.
Eggs used to be painted only red, since the red color signifies the blood that Jesus Christ shed on the cross, defending the lives of people.

The symbol is Easter cake.
Easter cakes are baked for Easter, because bread has always been considered the most important dish on the table. Therefore, from the moment Jesus Christ was resurrected, special bread was served on his table.
Nowadays this bread is called Easter cake. And they always bake it for Easter so that it is on the table.

The symbol is cottage cheese Easter.
It was also served on the table, it was placed in a special wooden bowl - a pasochnitsa. At the top of the bean box there should be the letters XB (Christ is risen), and on the sides there should be images of a cross, a spear and a cane, as well as sprouts and flowers, symbolizing the suffering and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

That is why, on Easter day, painted eggs, Easter cakes and Easter cottage cheese are placed on the table.

Happy Easter to you!

Easter.

Bright Sunday of Christ.

The word "Easter" means the transition from death to life, from the Earth

To the sky. Previously, this was the name of the holiday in memory of the deliverance of the Jews from Egyptian slavery. In the New Testament Church, this is a sign that the Son of God Himself, through the resurrection from the dead, passed from this world to the Heavenly Father, from Earth to Heaven.

Easter is the main, central of all Christian holidays. It is said about him that he “exceeds all celebrations, even those of Christ and those performed in honor of Christ, as much as the sun surpasses the stars.”

The Resurrection of the Savior from the dead is a triumph of faith

and virtue, and therefore this holiday for every believer is the brightest, the triumph of triumphs. It is no coincidence that on this day everyone strives to forgive each other. The service on this day is especially solemn, the rituals are especially beautiful, for the Church of Christ rejoices in the Resurrection, in the trampling of death, in eternal life. Every Christian is happy and tender on this day.

At this time, the sequence of services in the church changes, the Gospel and Psalter are not read. Prostrations to the ground are canceled from Easter to Pentecost. They pray standing in memory of the One Risen from the Dead. Throughout Easter week, services take place with the Royal Doors open - as a sign that the doors of heaven are open to us. On Easter Day, all the candles are lit, and the priests dress in the most solemn clothes. During Matins, the celebration of Christ begins - mutual kissing with the words: “Christ is risen!” - “Truly he is risen!” First, the clergy celebrate Christ, then the clergy and the laity, then the laity with each other.

The custom of giving each other red eggs on this day symbolizes the rebirth of life from under a dead shell. The red color reminds of the most pure blood of the Savior. Easter is celebrated throughout the week, which is called bright and is like one holiday day.

CONSULTATION FOR PARENTS

"HAPPY HOLIDAY, EASTER" Easter is a very joyful and Holy holiday, praising Life and Love. Easter proclaims that there is no death, that it is only a stage on a person’s path, and not at all the end of life.

The Easter holiday was previously called differently: Christ's Resurrection, Bright Day, Great Day, Green Christmastide. It was the most joyful and long-awaited holiday for both adults and children. The children were given gifts and all sorts of sweets, held general games, rode on swings, danced in circles, danced, sang and even caroled. Swings were a mandatory attribute of Easter. They were installed in almost every yard for their children, and on the common village square they erected swings for everyone for Easter. Absolutely everyone was swinging on the swings, bursting into joyful laughter. Smartly dressed villagers crowded around: men played the accordion, children ran around, women sang songs, girls danced in circles.

The main and most important event of the Easter holiday is attending a solemn church night service and consecrating Easter food: Easter eggs, painted eggs, Easter cakes.

How to celebrate Easter with the whole family?

Think in advance whether you will celebrate Easter with the whole family at home or go to visit, invite guests or be left alone. Think over the menu, decorate the house and table for Easter. At the same time, remember that working on Christ’s Sunday is prohibited, as well as on all other Sundays. To work for six days and rest on the seventh is one of God’s ten commandments. On holiday, you can only do what brings you pleasure and, of course, relax. You can stay at home, or you can organize a picnic in nature with kebabs and baked potatoes. You need to celebrate Easter not only with your body, but also with your soul.

Easter is a common family holiday, when many friends and relatives gather around the same table and children run around. At Easter, it is customary to give each other and especially children small gifts: painted boiled or artificial decorative eggs, small, beautifully decorated Easter eggs, Easter cakes, Easter souvenirs - bunnies, birds, candles, wreaths and baskets. Be sure to decorate your house and table for Easter. A beautiful plate with sprouted green grass and colorful eggs laid out on it will certainly be appreciated by your loved ones.

How to tell your child about Easter?

Easter can be a very bright and interesting holiday for children. While you are coloring eggs or coloring homemade postcard, tell your child why this is all being done. A short story about the life and death of Jesus Christ will bring meaning and understanding to the Easter holiday.

How to tell children about Easter?

Children are interested in this holiday, but perhaps they do not understand its meaning. It can be explained something like this:

The unusual word “Easter” itself is of Greek origin and is translated as “passing”, “deliverance”. The fact is that the ancient Jews celebrated Passover as a holiday of deliverance from Egyptian slavery, hence the name of the holiday corresponded its meaning. Then another event coincided with the time of this holiday, connected with the resurrection of God Jesus Christ from the dead.

The Son of God Jesus was crucified on the cross for the sins of mankind. But on the third day after death he rose again. And this happened during the celebration of Easter. Since then, every year people who believe in God Jesus Christ, and many non-believers, celebrate Bright Sunday, or Easter. By the way, the seventh day of the week was called “Sunday” for this very reason. Easter is preceded by a strict 40-day fast, during which adults who believe in Christ eat only lean food (you cannot eat animal products), pray, repent, and thus spiritual cleansing occurs. Even all family holidays that fell during Lent were moved to Easter.

On Easter Sunday, people attend church, where the priest blesses Easter cakes and eggs. After church, the family gathers at the festive table, everyone is treated to Easter cakes, Easter cakes, and colored eggs. Everyone congratulates each other, kisses, says: “Christ is Risen” and hears in response: “Truly He is Risen!”

The tradition of painting eggs originates from a story connected with Jesus Christ: on Easter, Mary Magdalene came to the Roman Emperor Tiberius with the good news: “Christ is risen!” - she said and presented the emperor with a chicken egg, which was considered a symbol of life, fertility and spring. revival of nature. The Emperor laughed and said that the egg would sooner turn red than he would believe it. And before everyone's eyes, the white egg in the hands of Mary Magdalene turned red. When Tiberius saw this, he was amazed and replied: “Truly risen!”

There is also a more prosaic explanation for where the custom of painting eggs with onion skins came from at Easter. During Lent, eggs could not be eaten as food - this is not a Lenten dish. But the chickens did not know about this and continued to lay eggs. There were no refrigerators then, and our wise ancestors noticed that if you boil eggs in onion skins, they can be stored for several weeks.

Later, eggs for Easter began to be painted in different colors, these are called “krashenki”.

Eggs on which various designs are “pysanky”.

And it happens that the eggs are covered with wax, painted, and then various patterns are scratched out with a needle. Such eggs are called “drapanki”.

Easter cakes are also baked for Easter. Easter cakes are also associated with the biblical story of Christ, who after the resurrection came to the disciples during their meals (this word means a meal, a feast in a monastery). The disciples of Christ deliberately left a free space in the middle and placed bread - artos - in front of it. Later, each family began to bake their own artos. According to tradition, bread for Christ is baked in the form of a cake from butter dough, adding nuts and raisins to it.

Another traditional Easter dish is Paskha. In essence, this is a sweet curd dessert with various additives, but Easter is laid out on a dish in the form of a truncated pyramid and symbolizes the coffin, inside which the miracle of resurrection took place. Therefore, at the very top of the Easter there should be the letters “ХВ” (“Christ is Risen!”), on the sides there should be images of a cross, a spear, a cane, sprouts and flowers, symbolizing suffering and resurrection of Christ.

How Easter was celebrated in Rus'

Easter in Rus' has always been celebrated widely and very solemnly. We were preparing for Easter in advance. In cities, shop windows were decorated with carousels with painted eggs. The housewives tried to clean the house as best as possible and bought treats in advance. Especially for the holiday, grains of oats or wheat were sprouted on a large wooden dish, so that painted eggs could then be served in a green meadow. On Maundy Thursday they always washed in the bathhouse, painted eggs and baked Easter cakes.

On Saturday, people dressed in their best and the whole family went to church for the Easter night service. Then they exchanged painted eggs with the words: “Christ is risen! “He is truly risen!”, and in the morning they sat down at the festive table. On Easter, it was customary to set rich tables, a whole pig or lamb was baked, and there could be 48 dishes in total (according to the number of days of fasting). Easter cakes were treated not only to relatives and friends, but also to the poor. Easter was celebrated for 40 days, that is, as much time as Christ appeared to his disciples after the resurrection. But at the same time, they not only walked and ate their fill, but also made sure to visit the sick, go to shelters and almshouses, and bring treats to prisoners.

This is how the famous Russian artist Alexander Makovsky depicted the Easter table in 1916 in his painting.
