In addition, as the photos show knitted blanket, blanket self made can become a luxurious decorative detail.

It is customary to highlight the following advantages of this hand-knitted product:

  • aesthetics;
  • practicality;
  • functionality;
  • uniqueness;
  • environmental friendliness.

Patterns and instructions for proper knitting can be found on the Internet. When you decide to knit a blanket yourself, remember important point– You shouldn’t skimp on yarn. An item knitted from low-quality threads will not last long.

Knitting options

Today there are many ways to knit a blanket. This is knitting from squares, knitting with braids and much more. Quite popular is knitting a blanket from leftover threads. Which option to choose depends only on your desire.

Many needlewomen prefer knitting from individual motives. It is considered the simplest and most convenient. You can knit this way in any environment - at home, at work, on the bus, in the subway. The disadvantage of knitting from motifs is the final assembly of the product. But still this The best way knitting for beginners.

We knit a blanket. Large knitting

This year's fashion trend is blankets and bedspreads made of thick threads. It's not very practical, but it's stylish. It is better to use tops or combed ribbon as yarn.

Advantages of this product:

  • the ability to knit not only with knitting needles, but also with your hands;
  • softness, airiness and lightness;
  • raw wool yarn adds style.

Disadvantages include:

  • During knitting, the top may tear, because it is not a finished yarn.
  • The threads are very fluffy, can break up into individual fibers and, as a result, get tangled. This makes knitting very difficult.
  • Items made from combed tape are difficult to care for: washing is prohibited.

Tops can be replaced with spun ones wool threads. It will be easier to knit with them. This blanket holds its shape much longer. It is washable. In addition, the spun yarn almost does not tear or fray.

In addition to threads, you will need special thick knitting needles. Detailed description You can see how to knit a blanket with your own hands in specialized magazines and on the Internet.

Bedspread made of squares

This option is optimal for those who have just recently started knitting. Making small squares is much easier than making a huge sheet. In addition, this method is a kind of “insurance” against making mistakes. It is easier to re-tie an incorrectly knitted motif than to remake a large bedspread.

Another advantage is the ability to knit in any situation, because the fragments are small and can easily fit in a bag. In addition to all of the above, for each fragment you can choose your own pattern, pattern, and threads.

In other words, knitting from squares will make all your fantasies come true. This is a good training for various styles of knitting.

Cozy blanket made from leftover threads

If you are not new to knitting, then you probably have quite a lot of leftover threads. There is no way to get rid of them, but what to do with them is the question. Motif knitting allows you to put everything on the blanket. The different texture of the yarn used will only emphasize the originality of the product.

For example, a fragment of plush surrounded by segments knitted from grass in combination with sectors made of wool will look very elegant and stylish. And, if you have threads of the same texture, but in different color scheme, then you can make a wonderful double-sided blanket.

Whatever master class on knitting a blanket you choose, the basic order of work is as follows:

  • Calculation of the required number of loops.
  • Selecting a primary and secondary pattern.
  • Calculation of the required amount of yarn.
  • Only after this can you start knitting.

Master class on crocheting a blanket.

Knitting technique "granny square". The diagram was taken from the Internet.
I knit a granny square without an air loop between the stitches.
The initial chain consists of 5 air loops.

The blanket is knitted from two types of yarn.
Pekhorka "Children's volumetric" 400m/100g acrylic 100% color in skeins orange - 5, natural - 3.
Pekhorka "Children's novelty" 200m/50g acrylic 100%. Colors in skeins are earth brown - 4, red - 3, dark red - 2, blue - 1.
In total you will need 1300 g of yarn.

Description of knitting a blanket

We distribute the yarn to the central part of the blanket and to the border. The central part took 30% of all yarn and all colors. Although it looks more massive, nevertheless, the main yarn goes to the border.

The central part of the blanket

The central part is made of squares in a free color scheme. To create a country style (rustic) there is no geometric sequence between the central squares. Warm color squares are arranged around separate cool color squares. There is even a square made up of many small squares that I used all the ends I had from testing to create it. This is not necessary if you do not have small thread ends.

The central part is made of 24 squares. Each square is knitted from 12 rows" granny square". Each square is attached to the previous one in the last row. When all the squares are connected, they need to be tied around the perimeter with 1 row of granny squares. Use the color that you will then use to tie all the other small squares of the border. Mine is a brown-earth color . Dark color I took it to highlight the bright and warm colors of the border. And divide the border zones.

Border

The first circle of the border consists of two types of squares. Knit 22 squares consisting of 5 rows of granny squares.

1 type. Regular square

2nd view. Square with a flower inside

Cast on a chain of 6 air loops with a natural-colored thread and close it in a circle. Tie the resulting ring with 12 single crochets. Close the last loop, do not cut the thread, leave it at work.

Using an orange thread, make 12 puffy stitches into each loop of the bottom row. Knit 3 air loops between the columns. At the end of the row, close the loop and cut the thread.
Lush stitch: yarn over - elongated loop - yarn over - elongated loop - yarn over - elongated loop, knit all yarn overs and loops at the same time with an air loop.

The next row is completed natural color. In terms of the number of columns, it corresponds to the 4th row of the “granny square”

We knit the 5th row with the same natural color. Close the last loop and cut the thread.

We tie each square with a thread of the color that you decided to use for tying (the general row of the central part). When tying the squares, we connect them together with single crochets and connect them to the central part.

For each large square there are 2 small squares along the edge.
When we have closed all the small squares in a full circle, we tie the blanket around the perimeter 1 row - brown-earth color, 3 rows - orange, 1 row - natural color, 3 rows red, 1 row - natural color, 1 row - brown-earth color colors. In total, you need to knit 12 rows so that the next circle of small squares fits the length of the sides. And the squares of the third circle were symmetrical to the squares of the first circle.

We knit the third circle, consisting of 3 types of small squares, corresponding to the type of square with a flower inside. The squares differ in the color of the flower inside. In total you need to knit 60 small squares, 20 pieces of the same color.

We perform the next round of tying around the perimeter. I've run out of the earthy brown, but I still have a lot of blue left. The blue color appears deeper and the orange stripe stands out brighter. We tie 1 row around the perimeter - Blue colour, 3 rows - orange, 1 row - natural color, 1st row - dark red color, 1st row - blue color. There are 7 rows in total. I could have continued knitting, but I ran out of thread.

Technology for connecting squares and stripes

All squares are connected with single crochets. When you have knitted 3 stitches of the working row, we knit 1 single crochet into the arch of the square with which we are connecting. We connect the corners as follows: knit 1 air loop, then single crochet under a chain of 3 chain stitches, 1 chain stitch, then double crochet in rows of granny squares.

The photo shows where the edge is tied at the junction of two small squares. Under each corner chain, 3 double crochets are knitted.

The first and last squares on the sides of the binding are attached with corners into the arch between the posts.

Subsequent squares are attached with corners to the fan itself of 3 posts, behind the central post.
The blanket turned out to be 180x210 cm in size. Easy to care for and easy to handle.
