Pattern for a sweater or jacket – 4

Good day, dear friends!

I don’t know about you, but with spring approaching, I want to quickly update my wardrobe by knitting a beautiful openwork women's sweater knitting needles Don't want to join us?

I bring to your attention two beautiful melange jumpers with openwork patterns. Choose which one you like best, and quickly grab your knitting needles!

Jumper with large collar

I had my eye on this elegant melange jumper as soon as I started leafing through the magazine. “Knitting is your hobby”. The colors, patterns and styles are chosen so harmoniously that you will definitely not be deprived of the attention of others!

True, the description of the jumper is given only on European SIZES: 36/38 (for us it is 42/44).

But if desired, by increasing the number of loops in accordance with yours, it can be knitted for a woman with a larger size.

According to the description, to knit a jumper you need to stock up on:

  • melange yarn ATELIER ZITRON: 450 g ECCO AQWAREL(100% merino wool, 110 m/50g) and bamboo knitting needles of the “Profi” brand No. 4.

If you don’t have bamboo knitting needles, I think regular ones will do just fine, as long as the numbers match. And you can choose a different yarn, otherwise you might end up without a jumper!

Just knit a larger swatch and see if you like the yarn and pattern combination or not. And the pattern here is not only openwork, but also with a wavy edge, like, I gave it a simple name - “Wavy”.

Knitting pattern “Wavy”

To knit a pattern sample, you need to cast on the number of loops that are a multiple of 13, add 1 loop for the symmetry of the pattern and 2 edge loops (26+1+2=29). And then knit according to the pattern below.

A small error crept into the pattern printed in the magazine (my first pattern crocheted using it did not match the pattern in the photo). I had to make an amendment.

Pattern pattern "Wavy"

KNITTING DENSITY: 22.5 loops and 22 rows - 10 x 10 cm.

Knitting back

Cast on 94 stitches on needles No. 4 and immediately begin knitting with the openwork “Wavy” pattern. After 38 cm (82 rows) from the beginning of knitting, we decrease 4 loops for the armholes on both sides and then in each 2nd row 1 time 2 loops, 2 times 1 loop.

After 16 cm (34 rows) from the beginning of the armhole, we close off the middle 36 loops for the neckline and finish both sides separately.

To round the neck, decrease from the inside in every 2nd row, first 2 loops, then 1 loop.

Knitting front

We knit the front in the same way as the back, only with a deeper neckline. To do this, at a height of 41 cm (88 rows) from the beginning of knitting, we close off the middle 22 loops and finish both sides separately.

To round the neckline, decrease from the inside in every 2nd row:

  • 1 time 3 loops;
  • 1 time 2 loops;
  • 5 times 1 loop.

At a height of 56 cm (122 rows) from the beginning of knitting, we close off the remaining 18 shoulder loops.

Knitting sleeves

We put 55 loops on the knitting needles and knit with an openwork pattern “Wavy”, adding 1 loop in every 8th row on both sides for expansion 12 times.

After 45 cm (98 rows) from the beginning of knitting, we close 4 loops on both sides for okat, then in each 2nd row 1 time 2 loops and 14 times 1 loop. At a height of 15 cm (32 rows), close off the remaining loops.

Product assembly

We carry out shoulder seams. For the collar along the neckline, we cast on 182 loops and knit 2 circular rows with purl loops, then 40 rows with an openwork “Wavy” pattern and 1 row with purl loops.

We close all the loops loosely. We carry out side seams, sleeve seams, sew in sleeves. The first jumper is ready!

A beautiful and delicate melange jumper caught my eye in the knitting magazine “Sabrina”. The flared silhouette and vertical openwork stripes will make your figure slimmer and more expressive in this jumper!

SIZES are pleasing: 36/38 (40/42), in the Russian version it is 42/44 (46/48).

YOU WILL NEED: 450 (500) g green-turquoise melange yarn STOP PRINT (50% microfiber, 50% viscose, 105 m/50 g), as well as straight and circular needles No. 4.

PATTERNS: facial surface; purl stitch; purl garter stitch (we knit purl stitches in knit and purl rows);

  • in the 5th circular row - *2 knit together, 1 yarn over*;
  • in the 6th circular row - We knit all loops and yarn overs purlwise;
  • in the 7th and 8th circular row - perform purl garter stitch;
  • repeat 1 time from the 1st to the 8th circular rows.

AVERAGE KNITTING DENSITY: 17 loops and 24.5 rows - 10 x 10 cm; stockinette stitch - 17 stitches and 26 rows - 10 x 10 cm.

Knitting back

On knitting needles No. 4, cast on 93 (101) loops and knit after the edge stitch like this:

  • *9 stitches in pattern A,
  • 10 loops in purl stitch,
  • 9 loops with pattern B,
  • 10 loops with purl stitch* (from* to* repeat 1 time),
  • 9 stitches in pattern A,

Simultaneously for shaping in the 19th row in each strip purl stitch we knit 2 loops together from 10 loops, purlwise, on the knitting needles 89 (97 loops).

We repeat these decreases 5 more times in every 12th row, there are 69 (77) loops on the needles.

At a height of 32.5 cm (80 rows) from the beginning of knitting, we continue working like this (after the edge):

  • 3 (7) purl stitches,
  • 0 (4) loops in pattern C,
  • *9 stitches in pattern A,
  • 4 loops with pattern C,
  • 9 loops with pattern B,
  • 4 loops with pattern C* (from* to* repeat 1 time),
  • 9 stitches in pattern A,
  • 0 (4) loops with pattern C,
  • 3 (7) stitches in purl stitch, edge stitch.

At the same time, for bevels, add 1 loop on both sides and in every 8th row 2 times 1 purl loop, on the knitting needles 75 (83) loops.

At a distance of 43 cm (106 rows) from the cast-on edge on both sides, first close off 4 loops for the armholes, then in every 2nd row 1 time 3 loops, 1 time 2 loops, 1 time 1 loop.

After 62 cm (152 row) for sizes 36/38 or 63.5 cm (156 row) for sizes 40/42 from the cast-on edge, bind off the remaining 55 (63) loops. Of these, the middle 37 (39) loops form the neckline, and 9 (12) loops along the edges form the shoulders.

Knitting front

The front is knitted like the back, only with a neckline. To do this, at a distance of 56.5 cm (138 row) for sizes 36/38 or 58 cm (142 row) for sizes 40/42 from the cast-on edge, close off the middle 17 (19) loops and finish both sides separately.

To round from the inner edge, close in every 2nd row 1 time 3 loops, 2 times 2 loops, 3 times 1 loop. We close the remaining 9 (12) shoulder loops on each side at the height of the back.

Knitting sleeves

Using knitting needles No. 4, cast on 42 (46) stitches and knit 3.5 cm (10 rows) with the pattern for plank A, then switch to knitting in stockinette stitch.

At the same time, from the bar we add sleeves on both sides for bevels alternately in every 8th and 10th rows (sizes 36/38) 8 times 1 loop or in every 8th row (sizes 40/42) 9 times 1 loop . There are 58 (64) loops on the needles.

  • in every 2nd row 7 times 1 loop, 2 times 2 loops and 1 time 3 loops.

At a distance of 45 cm (118 rows) from the bar, bind off the remaining 12 (18) loops.

Product assembly

We make shoulder seams. Along the neckline, using circular knitting needles, cast on 72 (76) stitches and knit 2.5 cm (8 circular rows) pattern for plank B. Close the loops with purl.

We sew in the sleeves, make side seams and sleeve seams. The second women's jumper is knitted!

But that is not all. Musical gift will serve you well "Song of Tenderness" performed by the incomparable Lyudmila Senchina.

And I will be very glad to see your feedback! Do you like any of these jumpers?

Melange means mixture in French. Accordingly, melange yarn is a mixture of threads different colors or shades. Colors can be contrasting, then knitted fabric It turns out bright and a little like tweed. Or they can be shades of the same color, for example, brown or gray. Products are made from such yarn natural colors imitating fabrics made from undyed raw materials. Let's take a closer look at what melange yarn is, photos, compositions and what models can be knitted from it?

Melange yarn is produced from both synthetic and natural fibers. Melange is just a color designation for yarn that does not in any way affect the composition of the fibers. Therefore, melange yarn can be made from 100% wool, cotton, and also from mixed fibers, for example, wool plus acrylic, cotton plus viscose, mohair plus nylon.

Advantages and disadvantages of melange

Knitting with melange yarn is a real pleasure, especially for beginner needlewomen. Due to the variegated color, small defects and imperfections are completely invisible on the canvas. Another advantage is that to work with such yarn you don’t need to rack your brains over patterns, braids and arans, since even a simple stockinette stitch with knitting needles or pearl knitting looks very interesting and stylish. You can also keep it simple knitted models, simple things in melange look impressive (photo confirms this).

Well, the disadvantages can probably include its advantages. For experienced craftswomen who know how and really love original knitting: weaving braids and arans, complex openwork and other patterns, melange yarn is not a helper, but quite the opposite. Such a thread attracts too much attention to itself, and the ripples prevent you from focusing on the complexity and beauty of the pattern. For such patterns, a single-color thread or section-dyed yarn with fairly long horizontal sections is more suitable.

But still, there are patterns that are knitted with knitting needles, in which the melange thread will look very advantageous.

Waves with deflated loops

The repeat of such waves as in the photo, made of melange yarn, is 24 loops. The knitting pattern will be as follows:

  • from the first to the fourth row we knit all the loops to make a garter stitch;
  • fifth R ( symbol words row) we start with four knit stitches, then we knit 1 knit loop and yarn over, again 1 LP and N, now 1 LP and two yarn overs, again 1 LP and 2 N, LP, 3 N, LP, 3 N, LP, 3 H, then 1 LP, four H, again LP, 4 H, continue in the mirror order: three times LP and 3 H, two times LP and 2 H, two times LP and one H, the rapport ends with 4 LP;
  • in the sixth R we knit 4 LPs, then we unravel the yarn overs and knit the loops;
  • from the seventh to the tenth R again garter stitch;
  • We start knitting the eleventh R with an offset so that the waves go in a checkerboard pattern. We start the row with RS and 4 N, RS, 3 H, RS, 3 N, RS, 3 N, RS, 2 N, RS, 2 H, RS, 1 N, RS, 1 N, now eight knits, RS, N , LP, N, LP, 2 N, LP, 2 N, LP, 3 N, LP, 3 N, LP, 3 N, LP, 4 N;
  • in the twelfth we repeat the sixth.

Simple openwork

One of the simplest openwork patterns knitting needles are perfect for knitting from melange yarn. The pattern repeat is only two loops:

  • in the first P we knit two loops together with a slant to the right, then make a yarn over. We continue alternating to the edge;
  • We knit the second and all subsequent even P according to the pattern, that is, with purl loops (if you knit in a circle, then all knit stitches);
  • in the third P we make an offset, which means we start with a yarn over, then two loops along with a tilt to the right side. We alternate until the edge.

Repeat knitting from the first row.

Knitting from melange

What patterns can be made from melange yarn? Let's look at knitting an original jumper (as in the photo).

This jumper is made from melange yarn and is knitted from the neck down in the round. This is what the pattern looks like for sizes 36-38, 40-42 and 44-46.

Descriptions are given for working with yarn 120m by 50g and thickness of knitting needles No. 5 and No. 6. To start working, you need to cast on 132 loops on circular knitting needles, close them into a ring and knit 16 cm with an elastic band. Next, we continue knitting with thicker knitting needles and knit 1 knit stitch, 23 loops with the main pattern, which is indicated in the diagram below, after 1 LP (mark the sleeve in this place), LP, seven purl loops, 25 pattern loops, again seven PI, RL (mark sleeve), 1 RL, 39 purl stitches, 1 RL.

In the third P after the neckline, you need to knit the first crossed purl loop from the raglan broach. We will knit the added loops IP.

We knit the right sleeve on 53 loops from the mark. In the first row we will dial 4 P on both sides. On both sides of the main pattern we knit with purl stitch.

We reduce the bevels through six P from the yoke, one loop at a time. Then in every twelfth row, 1st P.

For the back and front we knit 69 loops, cast on an additional 6 loops from the right sleeve. We continue to knit the jumper in the round, not forgetting to make the main pattern on the central 25 loops.
