Felt rat: DIY symbol of 2020

It's hard to find a person who hasn't encountered felt. It's a pleasure to work with him. In order to create a rat craft from felt, the symbol of 2020. All you need is a small piece of gray felt and very small scraps of pink.

Materials:

  • Pink and gray felt
  • Scissors
  • Beads
  • Gray rope or braid of threads
  • Filler
  • Ribbon

We make a pattern on paper and transfer the details to felt. Cut out the required number of parts from felt - ears (two gray, two pink), side details(two gray parts), tummy (black or white).

Sew the side pieces along the back line, sew the belly of the mouse in the right place - from the muzzle to the back of the animal. Do not sew it all the way so that you can turn it inside out and stuff it. We sew two parts of the ears together and turn them inside out.

For the ponytail, we need to cut off the rope or make a braid from threads. Tie knots at the ends of the rope or braid. Sew the tail into the body of the mouse, securing it well. Now we can turn out our workpiece.

Fill the mouse figurine tightly, filling it completely. Sew up the remaining hole.

All that remains is to decorate the rat’s face from felt: sew on the eyes and nose, attach the ears. The rat's tail can be decorated with a bow.

Felt rat: pattern

You can make the symbol of 2020 from felt in different ways, and depending on the pattern, the figures will differ from each other. But any craft can become a talisman of the house in which it will live for the whole next year.

Rat made of nylon tights: master class

Very good tradition make souvenirs with your own hands. These also include crafts for the New Year. To do this, you can use everything you can find at home, even old tights can be used to make a rat. The nylon tights that you were sorry to throw away will make a funny little rat.

Materials:

  • Nylon tights
  • Filler
  • Decor: fabric, fur, beads, rhinestones

Fill your head with padding polyester, make your nose out of black fabric or thick black tights. Sew the nom in the center of the head. Add padding polyester to highlight the cheeks. From the nose in the center, grab and sew what was stuffed for the cheeks.

Bring the needle up behind the nose. We repeat the same action back. We sew the cheeks of your mouse from tights.

To secure, return to the center. Do the second cheek in the same way.

Fill the mouth with filler and sew, returning to the starting point

We do the same on the other side. And we draw the needle according to the picture. The needle must be removed from the back of the head.

We make outlines for the eyes. We fill the forehead. We sew up the top of the head and mark the place where the ears will be.

To make ears, cover rings of the same size with nylon wire. Glue or sew the ears to the marked places. Glue the eyes or do it in a convenient way.

Making a rat from nylon tights is not as easy as making a rat from felt, but it’s worth a try. Moreover, damaged tights can be found in any home.

Rat made of wool using felting technique: craft for the New Year

In a couple of hours you can make a cute rat felted from wool. This material produces the most believable and closest to real animal figurines.

Materials:

  • Wool: white, gray (carded), pink
  • Felt (mat for felting)
  • Needles No. 36, No. 38, No. 40
  • Thin comb
  • Beads for eyes
  • Scissors
  • Monofilament white

You need to pull out a certain amount of white wool from the combed ribbon. Do not forget that when felting, the volume of wool will decrease by about half. Roll the wool into a roll. Fold the top edge of our cone and go through the fold with a needle many times. This is necessary for consolidation. We give this roll the shape of the body and head.

Now you can add some wool. Make a design using gray carded card. We’ll make a wedge on the rat’s face (go a little onto the cheeks), and on the back you can make a spot of any shape.

Carding consists of tangled hairs, so there is no need to do complex manipulations with it. The body of our felted little rat is almost ready.

To make the paws, you need two identical strips of wool (a pair of small ones for the upper paws and a larger pair for the lower paws). The thickness of our paws should be approximately the same, but the length of the upper ones is 1.5 times less than the lower ones. Fold in half, remove excess, pulling out for a free edge.

Felt the legs parallel so that they are the same.

Rub between your fingers, tangling the hairs. You need to felt along the strips of wool, holding them between your fingers and slowly turning them. Use a pair of #38 needles. The bend must be treated with a needle. Add wool if necessary. The top paw should be approximately 2 cm, and the bottom - 3 cm.

We need pink wool to make the palms when the paws are felted. We start felting with a needle No. 38, continue with No. 40.

Make a fold.

We make the tail by analogy with the paws, about 3 cm in length. It should be fairly soft and bendable. To make the ears, place strips of wool in the center, roll them down a little and fold them in half.

Felt on both sides, finishing the edges with a thin needle. Wait for the required size and make a recess.

These are the small details that now need to be put together

Fluff the felted bases, bringing all the details towards the body.

Use a thin needle to process the abdomen, forming the navel with a No. 38 needle. Black wool is necessary for the nose and mouth.

Bend the paws and process the back and muzzle. Make indentations for the eyes, sew on mustaches and eyes.

You can make a rat out of wool with your own hands in a few hours, but it is advisable to do this in daylight and good mood. Since small details must be made the same so that your little animal does not turn out awkward.

Paper rat: DIY New Year's craft

Kids love to create with their own hands beautiful crafts, which can be given by grandparents. Paper is the simplest, cheapest and most beneficial material for children's creativity. You can create from colored paper interesting crafts and applications on various topics.

It is fashionable to make a funny three-dimensional mouse from several parts - a circle, a heart, a strip.

Cut out a circle and a slightly smaller heart, and twist the strip for the tail into a tube. Glue the heart onto the circle, folding the rounded areas. Attach a tail, and eyes and a nose from black paper.

A voluminous paper rat can be made using a ready-made template. To do this, you just need to print it, cut it out carefully and glue it together.

Materials:

  • White cardboard
  • Pink cardboard
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon
  • Markers

We make a blank for our box from white cardboard: draw a triangle with equal sides on the cardboard. Find the middle of each side, and in the center draw another triangle, which also has equal sides. Draw ears above the large triangle. Cut out the toy and fold along the lines. We need pink cardboard to make the ears. Let's glue them on the inside.

On the front of the rat craft for the New Year, draw a face with a black felt-tip pen. Use a hole punch to make holes to thread the ribbon through.

There can be a wide variety of paper mice, and all of them will be cute and funny in their own way, especially considering that they are made by your child’s hands.

  • Felt for nose

Fold the sock and draw a body and details for the ears on the sole. Cut and sew on the wrong side. Leave one edge unstitched.

How to make a rat from twine and cork

If you have a desire to create on the weekend, but have a problem with a lack of material, then this master class will show you that you can make a craft from what you wanted to throw away. By saving the wine cork after the holiday, you can make a funny baby rat from twine and cork.

Materials:

  • A pair of sewing pins
  • Wine cork
  • Wire
  • Twine/tourniquet
  • fishing line
  • Wire cutters
  • Scissors
  • Black marker
  • Hot glue or instant glue

Use a knife to shape the cork into a cone. Turn the wire into 6 identical pieces. We bend four pieces at the ends to make legs.

We insert the wire into the base of the cork and bend it the way we want to see the paws, tail and neck of the rat. We attach a pin to the wire with hot glue so that its ball becomes the nose of the future animal.

We wrap the neck with twine, securing it with glue. The rat's body should gradually become pointed at the muzzle.

Wrap with yarn gray the rat's paws separately, and then its tail, body, neck and face. To prevent the base from showing through, you will have to make several layers of winding. We make ears from wire and wrap them as well.

We stick the ends of the wire into the head. We insert two more pins with round tips into the head and body of the rat so that only white balls remain outside. Make black pupils on them.

You need to make three pieces of thick fishing line and pull them through the rat's face to get antennae. A yellow scouring pad makes a great piece of cheese.

DIY rat from a plastic bottle

One of the most quick ways to make a funny rat is to use a plastic bottle and felt or fabric.

For this craft we will need a 1.5 liter plastic bottle. Cut off the middle and bottom. Let's connect the two parts together to get the body. Wrap the body of the bottle in cloth or felt and secure with glue. From the fabric we cut out the details of the rat's face - eyes, nose, tail, ears. You can also make these parts from cardboard.

Let's glue all the details to the craft. Make the legs from the same material that was wrapped around the body and glue them.

Salt dough rat for New Year

WITH early age Children love to sculpt various figures and crafts from plasticine. This material develops fine motor skills well, so in kindergartens with junior groups start classes with this material. You can also replace it with salty dough, which is easily done at home.

The positive aspect of dough crafts is that within 24 hours the product will dry out and look like a figurine.

Recipe for salt dough for crafts:

  • 1.5 cups flour
  • A glass of fine salt
  • Half a glass of cold water
  • Watercolor paints
  • Clear nail polish
  • rolling pin

Combine salt and flour with water. Add PVA and knead. Roll out the mass on the table.

Separate a small piece from the dough to make cheese out of it, on which our salt dough rat will sit.

Using a pencil, make holes of varying sizes in the cheese. Break off a larger piece and shape it into an oval. Pull it out on one side to create a nose. We sit this blank rat on a piece of cheese.

From two small pieces of dough we make ears by squeezing out indentations on them. Attach the ears to the body using water. The eyes and nose can be made from black peppercorns. Make the tail from dough by rolling it into a tube. You can also attach it with water.

You need to dry the salt dough rat at room temperature. If you put the craft in the oven, it may crack. It will take about 1-2 days for the craft to dry naturally.

Once dry, paint the cheese and mouse with matching colors.

Hello!

The New Year is approaching, and it's time to think about how to prepare your home for this holiday. It is traditional to put up a Christmas tree and decorate it. But if you approach interior design properly and try in the smallest detail, you can.

For example, do it yourself. In 2020 it will be a mouse (or a rat), so cute animals made from a variety of materials will be the topic of our conversation today.

In this article, I have collected as many as ten master classes that tell in detail about what products can be made for the upcoming holiday. Most of the ideas are aimed at children, so adult readers of this article will find it too easy. However, you can use them as a basis for your own, more complex ideas, or use them in your work if you happen to be a teacher or educator.

I look forward to your comments under the article and suggestions on how to improve this or that idea. Or maybe you can share a link to a photo of your product created according to one of the lessons? Both will be just wonderful! In the meantime, I propose to move from theory to practice and get acquainted with our first little mouse.

How to make the symbol of 2020 Rat from nylon

Although, in fact, the word “mouse” is not entirely appropriate here. In the first MK, we will take on the implementation of a rather complex idea and make an entire animal king ourselves! And not from any standard materials, but from nylon. The result will be impressive. However, you can see everything for yourself in the photo.

Necessary materials:

  • 5 liter plastic bottle;
  • Nylon tights;
  • Sintepon;
  • Foil and yellow rope for crown;
  • Bright fabric;
  • Wide ribbons: red and black;
  • Unnecessary bow;
  • Gilt button;
  • Toy eyes;
  • Plaque from the belt;
  • Thread and needle.

Subsequence:

Stuffing nylon tights padding polyester and make faces out of them for the mouse king.

Let's start with the nose. To do this, we stitch our workpiece in the right places, tightening it with threads.

The heads may turn out a little different - it’s even more interesting. After all, each head has its own character!

From two halves of a nylon track we make ears for one head. We also stuff them with padding polyester.

We repeat the same for the remaining heads.

Now it's time to make the body. We wrap a five-liter bottle with padding polyester and put tights on it.

Sew three heads to the resulting base.

We make paws from small pieces of nylon.

We also sew them to our craft. Glue on toy or painted eyes.

Now all that remains is to make an outfit for our mouse king!

We sew a high collar from a piece of bright fabric. There are no exact sizes, because the size of the toy will be different for everyone. We decorate it around the edges with ribbons. We make a mantle from the same materials.

We make a real belt from a wide black ribbon and a plastic plaque.

We put it on the toy. We make cuffs from the same tape.

We open the bow so that the king has a frill.

This is what it will look like.

A wide red ribbon and button turns into beautiful ribbon, which can be thrown over the shoulder.

We make the base of the crown from wire. Wrap it in several layers of foil.

And then we decorate with a yellow rope.

We put the crown on the king.

Sew on the collar and put on the raincoat. Don't forget about the ponytail! The author of this description knitted it and stuffed it with padding polyester. You can go another way - for example, sew it from a piece of fabric.

The craft is completely ready. Look how gorgeous the mouse king turned out! This toy will definitely take first place at any exhibition.

Let's see what other toys can be made from similar materials. What do you think of this sweet couple?

This baby, in my opinion, will also be an excellent decoration for the house for the New Year holiday.

Such babies, too, I’m sure, will delight everyone.

In general, as you can see, there is plenty of room for creativity here! Imagine and realize your ideas in this unusual technique.

Paper mouse (rat)

And this version of the mouse is for the very little ones. Great idea for a lesson in kindergarten. Any child can cope with creating such a craft, even without the help of a teacher. What you need to develop your imagination fine motor skills and independence.

Materials:

  • Double-sided colored paper;
  • Black marker;
  • Glue;
  • Scissors;
  • A simple pencil.

Subsequence:

Cut out two circles from colored paper. They can be different colors or the same, but most importantly, they must be equal in size. We also need a strip, also made of paper. Fold the circles in half.

Draw half a heart on one of them, as shown in the photo. And then we cut it out.

We bend the two upper edges at the heart. These are ears. Using a black marker, draw a nose and eyes on the face.

Glue the muzzle to the body. We twist a tail from a strip of colored paper. We glue it too.

These are the kind of mischievous little mice we make. And most importantly, it literally took 5 minutes to make them!

In general, paper mice can be very different. For example, like this.

Or like this. Which option do you prefer?

Paper crafts are convenient because even a child can make them.

Cut them out along the marked outline.

And then we sew along the edge, leaving holes for the filler. The body has a hole for the tail.

We stuff all parts of the mouse with synthetic padding or other soft filler.

Don’t forget to turn the parts inside out first so that the seams are not visible.

Cut a strip like this from the remaining upper part of the sock. There should be a rubber band there.

Cut off the left and right edges, and then sew a strip along the contour. We turn it inside out.

We sew the tail to the body of our toy.

We do the same with the ears.

We use buttons and a pompom to decorate the face.

  • Plasticine of different colors;
  • Stack;
  • Wooden skewer;
  • Toothbrush;
  • Pen.

Let's make a barrel like this from a piece of gray plasticine.

We cut it into three parts. Roll each one into a ball.

From the largest one we make the torso a. To do this, you need to give it the shape of a pear, and then flatten the top part, making a small platform on which the head will be attached.

The head will be a size two ball. Since the mouse has a sharp muzzle, you need to give the ball the appropriate shape.

We connect these two parts to each other.

With help ballpoint pen We make two holes on the head for the eyes.

We make each eye from a white ball and a black plasticine ball. Flatten them slightly and then insert them into the holes.

We will make smaller parts from pink plasticine: ears, paws and a tail. For this we need four of these pieces.

We take the largest of them and divide it into two parts. Roll each part into a pancake, and then roll it up as shown in the photo, making a small cut.

Attach the ears to the head.

At the end of the muzzle we make a nose - also from pink plasticine. Draw the mouth with the sharp end of a skewer.

From an oblong pancake of white plasticine we make a belly for the mouse. We simply attach it to the body and gently smooth it.

Two small pink balls and two gray sausages turn into very cute paws.

We attach them to our craft. Also, don’t forget to make the legs and attach them too.

And finally, we make a tail from a pink plasticine flagellum.

Now it's a matter of small things. All that remains is to decorate the toy. We make a scarf for her from two colors of plasticine. Like this.

Master class on creating a mouse using origami technique

Origami is perhaps one of the most accessible techniques. Both in terms of materials and in terms of its development. Even kindergarten-aged children can create such a mouse, so I recommend that educators reading this article take note.

Materials:

  • Scissors;
  • Colored paper;
  • Glue stick;
  • Markers;
  • Ruler;
  • A simple pencil.

Subsequence:

We will make the figure in several stages. All of them are presented in the photo below.

First, let's start making the dress. To do this, take a large square of colored paper and fold it into a basic “kite” shape. We open it, then bend the bottom corner up. We return the left and right sides of the “kite” to their place, and turn the workpiece over.

In order to make the sleeves, we need a blue square. We make a scarf out of it. Glue it to the first triangle, bending the corners along its sides. We straighten the resulting pockets.

For the head, cut out another square, this time orange. We make a triangle out of it. We bend the left and right sides down, and then raise their corners. Turn the workpiece over. We lower the central corner down.

Draw eyes and a nose on the face. Glue all the parts together.

Look what wonderful little mice the guys made.

I think it's very cute.

You can do a simpler option. This is for very young children.

This mouse is almost like a real one! Do you agree?

Experiment with materials - it always gives an interesting effect!

Look at these funny guys. They will definitely fit into your New Year's party!

And of course, don’t forget about modular origami. Yes, it will take patience, but what a result!

Beautiful rat from a plastic bottle

Everyone has probably come across crafts from plastic bottles. Usually they decorate the area near houses or in summer cottages. But have you thought about making one of these toys for your home? The advent of 2020 is a great way to try and make such an adorable mouse from just a couple of materials.

Materials:

  • Plastic bottle;
  • PVA glue;
  • Scissors;
  • Any dense material (drape, felt, etc.).

Subsequence:

Since the bottle is too long, we cut it in half, shorten each part, and then connect them again, inserting one into the other.

We wrap this place with a piece of material.

We do the same with the neck of the bottle. This is the nose of our toy.

Cut out eyes, ears and nose from the material. Glue them to the craft.

All that remains is to make the legs. To do this, we make such dense rolls from felt, drape or other material that we use.

Glue them in place.

Look what funny little mice we made. You can experiment with the shape of their ears and nose to make it more recognizable.

You might also like this weirdo.

Funny figures, aren't they? Before the holiday, you can plant a couple in them spruce branches for the surroundings.

Well, the best part is that the cost of such crafts is absolutely low.

Mouse made from natural material

Sometimes you don’t have to go far to find craft materials—they’re literally right under your feet! Especially if you get out into the forest at least a couple of times before the cold starts. Look what wonderful little mice are made from ordinary pine cones. Do you want these for yourself? Let's see how we can make them.

Materials for two toys:

  • 2 cones;
  • Silver sequins;
  • 4 pumpkin seeds;
  • Dense golden threads;
  • PVA glue;
  • Scissors;
  • Peppercorns;
  • 2 acorns.

Subsequence:

We use it as a basis for the toy. Pine cones. It is advisable that they are not very large, otherwise the bodies will be disproportionate to their acorn heads.

So, take a pine cone and glue an acorn to it, as shown in the photo below.

We glue ears made of pumpkin seeds to the acorn. They first need to cut off the top part diagonally.

Cut off small pieces from the threads. We plant them with glue on the pointed part of the acorn. Mustache ready!

From three peppercorns we make eyes and a nose.

We twist several red threads. This is a ponytail. Glue it to the back of the body.

If the mouse is a boy, then glue several short 2-3 cm strings between the ears.

If it's a girl, then you need longer hair.

Mix PVA glue with silver glitter and apply to the ears and body. Mice are usually gray, right?

We wait until it dries completely. Now our crafts are ready!

Despite the fact that the materials are the same, the result is different for everyone. Let's get a look.

How do you like this pet?

And there's a whole crowd of them here! Try to get at least one. I think it will be fun.

Materials:

  • Wine cork;

  • Jute twine;
  • White, black and yellow acrylic paints;
  • Three pins with balls at the ends;
  • Wire;
  • Thick gray wool thread;
  • Wire cutters;
  • Scissors.

Subsequence:

Let's take a regular wine cork as a base. You can use thick foam instead.

Using a knife, we give it the shape that the body of our mouse will have. It turns out to be something like a pear.

We stick 6 pieces of wire (1.5 mm in diameter) into it from different sides. These pieces are the head, paws and tail.

We attach a pin with a ball at the end to the end of the wire, which represents the head. Pre-lubricate it with “Moment”. The nose can be painted immediately at this stage.

We continue to coat the wire with glue and wind jute twine onto it in several layers, giving the head the desired shape.

We wrap the arms and legs in one layer of gray woolen thread.

We bend them at the ends like this to make a paw.

And we continue to wrap.

Repeat for all limbs. We also design the tail.

We completely wrap the torso, neck and head with the same gray threads.

To make the ears, take two paper clips and bend them as shown in the photo. We also wrap them with thread.

There should be loops at the ends of the paper clips.

Having cut off the excess, we stick the ears into the head, smearing the tip with glue. We make eyes from the same pins as the nose. Just paint them white.

If you want, you can make a piece of cheese from a white eraser.

Using any convenient object, cut holes in it.

And then we paint with light yellow acrylic paint.

That's all. Our toy is ready.

Often for festive table They make these lemon mice.

Well, or from other fruits and vegetables. This is a great way to have fun with your guests, don't you agree?

Do-it-yourself crochet rat-mouse in amigurumi style

Now catch a couple of descriptions in amigurumi style. And you will find many other developments on the topic of knitted rodent toys and mice in particular, there are a lot of them there. I recommend getting to know each other.

This completes the selection of master classes. Be sure to write in the comments which of the proposed ideas you liked best and which one you definitely wouldn’t want to repeat. Let's see how different your tastes are. I wish you all good luck in your creativity and look forward to being regular readers on my blog! Bye!

According to the Chinese calendar, the symbol of 2020 is a white silver rat, which we will make using the technique modular origami. I propose to collect a rodent from paper modules according to a simple scheme: preparing parts, and then assembling a 3D figure.

How to make a rat in modular origami

I have prepared a simple and understandable model. White beauty is perfect for making by children and will become an original souvenir in the coming year. To work you will need:

  • 157 white modules;
  • 34 brown parts;
  • PVA glue or glue gun;
  • Decorative eyes and some black paper for the nose;
  • Scissors.

Step-by-step assembly of a rat from modules

When everything is ready, let's get to the fun part. Take 6 white modules, place them in front of you in a circle so that the long ends are directed from the center to the sides. Place one module on the adjacent ends of the parts in the same direction. That is, connect the first row of triangles with six more parts. You will get two rows of 6 pieces each.

Next, assemble in a circle. We need to double the number of modules. To do this, insert into the gaps between the parts of the previous row modulo and put on each two adjacent ends of a part. Thus, in the 3rd row there are 12 white pieces.
From 4 to 12 rows: white modules, 12 pieces each.

Row 13 is a little different. The parts must be inserted with the opposite end. Next, we make 12 modules in a circle again with the long end outward. In the last two rows we put each new module on three ends from the previous row. That is, we reduce the number of details so that the rat has a sharp nose.

Ears, paws and tail

We're done with the white bodies. Take two brown triangles, open the middle of each, making rounded outlines. Insert the sharp ends into the holes on the rat's head, symmetrically to each other.

Assemble the front legs from two brown parts and attach them from below in the front of the body. Make the hind limbs from 6 modules each. Insert the sixth one with the other end. Secure the paws with glue to the sides of the back of the body.

All that remains is to collect the tail. It won't take much time. Need brown parts again. Make a chain of 18 modules and bend it in a semicircle for realism. Glue the tail to the back of the rat.

Origami rat from modules is almost ready! Choose eyes at your discretion. Ready-made plastic ones, if available, or cut out of colored paper will do. Do the same with your nose. I cut out a small black circle, made a slit from one side to the center and glued the cone together.

The result is a cute little animal. A unique handmade souvenir! The model can be made during assembly or after completion, or you can leave the body unglued, fixing only the paws, ears, tail, eyes and nose.

I wish you success in your creativity and a great mood! Subscribe to the latest articles and stay updated on new cool origami crafts!
