Leather will not be placed inside such shoes, but the textiles must be of high quality. Inspect the seams: they should be tight and with even thread tension. Check the adhesive connection between the sole and the upper - lag is unacceptable.

When choosing shoes for a child, pay attention not only to the attractiveness of the model. Choose boots of such quality that they help the correct formation of the foot. Don't forget that your baby needs shoes that make it easy for him to move around. When purchasing, inspect the boots from the outside and inside, determining the material and care of manufacture. Check that they contain the necessary element - an instep support, with the help of which the child will learn to place his legs correctly when walking. To prevent your baby from chafing, feel rough seams and folds from the inside. Find shoes with comfortable soles. On frosty days, these feet feel warm and comfortable, but in slush, matte suede quickly loses its attractive appearance. Therefore, if you have to overcome snowy sidewalks and wet roads, genuine leather is preferable. To keep your feet warm and comfortable, you need an internal lining made of natural fur. If you have decided on a specific model, look inside the boot. Natural fur has a thick pile, and the hairs are closely spaced to each other. Pull them apart and look at the base - real fur will have leather, while faux fur will have textile material. Insert your hand into the boot all the way to the toe and make sure that natural fur placed on the entire insole.

Look at the thickness of the sole, because the warmth of your feet also depends on it. Pay attention to the smooth movement of the zipper - it should easily slide along the entire length of the boot. Make sure of this by unfastening and fastening the model several times. Therefore, to feel warm and comfortable, choose your shoes responsibly. To help you, we have collected basic tips for choosing winter shoes.

Upper materials

The answer to the question of how to choose high-quality shoes for winter lies primarily in making the right choice the material from which its top is made. Despite the development of technology, the shelves of most stores are still divided into two parts: more expensive shoes made from natural materials and budget options made from artificial ones. Genuine leather can be smooth and fleecy - this variety includes suede, velor, and nubuck, beloved by many. Let's look at the pros and cons of each type of shoe.

Smooth natural leather retains heat well, restores its shape after deformation, withstands low temperatures, repels moisture, and prevents the foot from sweating. In addition, genuine leather can adapt to the shape of your foot when worn, making it more comfortable.

Fuzzy types of leather - suede, velor or nubuck - have most of these properties. The only exception is that they allow moisture to pass through and, moreover, under the influence of water and dirt they can lose their neat appearance. appearance. Special sprays can be a salvation, but they cannot be called a panacea. Therefore, it is better not to wear such shoes in bad weather. But it has a beautiful appearance and is suitable for festive occasions.

Modern industry has invented hundreds of synthetic materials for making shoes, but no matter how good they are, they cannot keep up with natural leather in quality. Leatherette shoes are less durable - as a rule, they last for one season. It is not as warm and less comfortable. The biggest advantage of shoes made from non-natural materials is their low price.

Sports shoes should be placed in a separate category. Synthetic materials and insulation like foam rubber are often used for it. As a rule, they do a good job of maintaining heat. But wearing such shoes with clothes business style, you agree, it won’t work.

How to choose quality shoes

  1. To determine whether a shoe is made of genuine or artificial leather, gently touch it with a needle. Genuine leather will bend elastically and then restore its shape; unnatural leather will remain marked with a puncture.
  2. Examine the pair carefully and look for places where you can see the underside of the material. If a fabric base is found there, it is leatherette.
  3. Evaluate the quality of the seams - the manufacturer of good shoes will not skimp on their processing.
  4. Inspect the heel pad adjacent to the heel - it should be firm but flexible to support the foot. The inside should be covered with flannel or leather. There is no point in making the backdrop fur - the pile will be wiped off instantly.
  5. The sole must be firmly and neatly fastened - without glue smudges or knocked down protruding threads if the shoes are stitched.

Interior decoration

It is clear that one of the best options for the interior finishing of winter shoes is natural fur. It maintains heat well and prevents your feet from sweating. In addition, it does not fall off for a long time, which means that there is an air layer between its fibers, thanks to which the foot does not freeze.

To distinguish natural insulation from artificial insulation, you need to move the fibers apart and examine the base of the lining. If you see a fabric base there, then the insulation is not natural.

Please note that manufacturers often use different linings for the top and bottom of shoes. In hard-to-reach places adjacent to the foot, low-quality material may suddenly appear.

The insoles of winter shoes should be soft enough. It’s good if they have a Seitz roll - a special thickening under the forefoot.

Sole

The minimum sole thickness for winter shoes is one centimeter. Keep in mind that the thinner it is, the faster your foot will cool. Optimal materials are polyurethane, rubber, polyvinyl chloride. Good “adhesion” to the surface is provided by the corrugated pattern, but sometimes this is not enough. If the shoes turn out to be slippery, you can ask the workshop to glue special pads on them. However, this will require additional costs.

Heel

Modern doctors are gradually moving away from the idea that comfortable and safe shoes must have a heel. We will not interfere in the discussions of orthopedists and will only note one thing: winter boots high heels are not an option for every day, and you need to move in them with the utmost caution.

A more or less safe heel height for hiking on snow and ice is up to five centimeters. It is better that the heel is wide and stable.

Make sure that the heel does not move back under load, and that the toe, even without your weight, does not rise above the floor by more than one centimeter. If these requirements are not met, it will be very difficult for you to stay on your feet in icy conditions, and in general it will be uncomfortable.

Lightning

Immediately appreciate how neatly and competently the zipper is sewn. There should be a flap adjacent to it on the inside, which will prevent your socks and tights from tearing when fastening and not damaging the zipper itself. However, it should not reach the bottom of the shoe, otherwise water will constantly get inside through the fastener.

How to choose winter shoe size

  1. Come to the shoe store in the afternoon, when your feet are already a little swollen.
  2. If you plan to wear shoes with a sock, put it on immediately when trying them on.
  3. Put it on new shoes and measure how far your big toe is from its edge. Experts say that it is optimal if it is one centimeter. In any case, make sure that nothing is squeezing all your fingers inside so that they can straighten out. In places where shoes restrict your feet, there is a high risk of frostbite in winter.
  4. Leather shoes should fit comfortably, but at the same time fit snugly (remember that leather can take the shape of your foot over time).
  5. Keep in mind that leather shoes if it wears out, it is only in width. If your thumb It doesn’t feel loose when trying it on, even wearing it for a long time won’t change anything - it will always be like this.
  1. Shoes made of natural smooth leather with heels no more than five centimeters are the most practical and safe.
  2. When assessing the material from which the lining is made, inspect not only the upper, but also the part where the foot directly fits. Manufacturers often skimp on unnoticed parts of their products.
  3. Press down on the instep of the boot in the middle - the heel should not move back.
  4. Winter shoes should not be tight - in places where they squeeze your feet, you risk frostbite.
  5. The sole of high-quality winter shoes cannot be thinner than one centimeter.

Careful choice is the key to long-term use, especially for wardrobes for the frosty season. Before investing, buyers are interested in how to choose the right winter clothing for men and women. women's shoes in size and other parameters for everyday wear. Operating conditions in the cold season are not the same; at zero temperatures there is slush; in frosty conditions it is important to conserve heat. The sole should not slip on ice or compacted snow. In cities, paths are sprinkled with reagents that destroy low-quality boots. Therefore, you need to choose the perfect pair so that it lasts a long time and your feet do not freeze.

Upper materials

The product must be waterproof, but at the same time allow air to pass through so that the legs can breathe and there is no greenhouse effect. Typically, leather or fabric is coated with a special moisture-wicking impregnation, which repels snow, ice, and other contaminants. If you want to know how to choose men's winter boots, you need to take into account that sports-type models are more durable, as they are designed for use in difficult weather conditions.

The best products are made from genuine leather, nubuck, and suede. This is a universal option for the city and forays into nature. Leatherette wears out faster and cracks due to temperature changes. If you plan to travel mainly by car, choose a modification with Gore-Tex membrane. They won't get hot, even if you have to spend a lot of time indoors. Excess moisture will come out through the porous fabric, and your feet will not get wet when they come into contact with snow. Wearing comfort is ensured at temperatures down to minus five.

If you need information on which boots are suitable for hiking, a combination boot that combines lightweight, breathable and waterproof materials would be an excellent solution.

A waterproof one will help complete the look. winter clothes brand "Stayer". DWR impregnation is used in its manufacture. It creates an additional barrier that prevents snow from sticking and getting the fabric wet. You can update your wardrobe through the manufacturer's online store.

How to choose quality shoes

Wearing a well-made pair does not cause any discomfort. It is important that the load on the foot is distributed evenly and does not press anywhere. IN comfortable models Every bump in the road should not be felt, otherwise after walking not only your legs, but also your back will get tired. Good products have the following properties:
  • The insole is removed, the internal cavity underneath looks neat.
  • The upper part is sewn to the sole, not just glued.
  • There are no protruding threads or traces of glue.
  • The product bends at the base of the toes, so when walking the foot takes a natural position.
  • To determine which shoes are best to choose for the winter, keep in mind that the heel should not wobble in different directions.

Interior decoration

Warm boots are lined with fur on the inside - artificial or natural. Since air is contained between its fibers, this material has high heat-saving properties. The insulation layer should not be thick, otherwise it will interfere with walking. Among the new products are warm sneakers with a neoprene liner that perfectly retains heat and does not allow water to pass through. The only negative is that neoprene removes moisture worse than a membrane.

For people leading an active lifestyle, products with PrimaLoft Silver insulation are suitable, which will prevent you from freezing in the cold. This down substitute is lighter than fur and quite thin. If you need an answer to the question of which winter shoes are better, keep in mind that with this filler they do not seem bulky, are pleasant to the touch, and dry quickly when wet. You can often find boots made of double-sided material - sherpa. One side resembles faux fur, and the other resembles suede. Models made using this technology are suitable for wearing in bitter cold.

Insoles also belong to the interior decoration; they absorb impacts when walking, protecting skeletal system person. They should not be paper thin or too hard. Reputable manufacturers ensure that the liner conforms to the shape of the foot, which in reality is nothing like a flat board.

If this element is too hard, it puts a lot of pressure on the heel, making it impossible to rest on the entire foot. Over time, flat feet may develop; people with sore joints are not recommended to wear such items.

Sole

It should be anti-slip, that is, uneven. Then the tread will cling to the ice, preventing you from slipping. Ice, puddles, crushed snow - in winter there are traps all over the street. Another one characteristic feature element in contact with the road - it is made of special types of rubber that are not subject to freezing. Otherwise, it loses strength, so it may soon become covered with cracks. Walking in boots will be dangerous; they will begin to slip a lot on the ice.

It is better to study the information about the product in advance and find out what temperature range the selected model can withstand. The thickness of the sole of winter boots is at least one centimeter. If you take less, woolen socks will not help, and the person will feel cold.

Heel

Products with a high platform are dangerous to wear in winter, with the exception of women's boots, which are worn on special occasions. Their support area is smaller, and the pressure on the surface increases. A tall, sharp stiletto heel cuts into the snow and prevents slipping. But, having slipped in shoes with flat sole, maintaining balance is easier. The speed of movement in boots increases.

As your heels lift, your body leans forward. Trying to maintain balance, a person automatically increases the tension in his joints. If you walk at a high incline all the time, your spine may become curved. But if heels are important to you, choose those whose height is less than 5 centimeters; they are suitable for everyday wear.

To protect your health and your funds, do not choose products with plastic support. They will not last long, and sudden failure can lead to injury. High-quality boots are sold with reliable heels that will not have to be changed in the workshop after a week.

Lightning

The fastener is an important element, the quality of which determines the dryness of your feet. Low-grade products are already poorly fastened in the store. In some cases, a protective strip is provided to prevent water from entering. Plastic modifications are more durable; they are not damaged by salt and reagents used to treat roads.

The manufacturer's logo should be located on the "dog". This indicates that the fittings are branded and will last a long time. Sports modifications usually have lacing, which is more practical than any zipper. The laces cannot break or come apart, but women's boots they often look out of place.

How to choose winter shoe size

Many people know that wearing tight models is harmful, but if they hang loose, this also has a bad effect on health. In the case of options for the cold season, you need to choose a larger product so that you can wear thick socks. Brands with a good reputation do not sell small sizes, so you can safely order your size without doubting that your foot will fit comfortably. The boot should have a margin of freedom to fit so that it is easy to move, but at the same time the boot does not dangle.

To understand how to choose the size of winter shoes, you need to consider both the length and fullness of the ankle. It is worth remembering that for some people, the right and left feet differ by several centimeters. A matching pair will fit your larger foot. It is better not to take specimens that are too bulky; they will be uncomfortable to wear and unsightly creases will form on the surface. With optimal selection of the parameter, the sensations will be comfortable.

In larger models, the heel moves forward from the heel pad. Tight boots will stretch from constant dynamic loads, the seams will become less durable, and moisture from melted snow will begin to penetrate inside. In addition, the blood supply will deteriorate, causing the person to freeze. The effect of tight things on the joints is especially harmful; gouty changes will begin in them.

To feel comfortable in any weather, it is important to stock up on warm clothes. TO sports things High demands are made, manufacturers use high-tech materials, which is reflected in the price of goods. The Stayer company offers not only high-quality products that meet strict requirements, but also affordable ones. For comparison, a Salomon brand jacket or trousers will cost one and a half to two times more, and they are made from a similar membrane.

The following recommendations will help you distinguish a branded product from a fake:
  1. Consider the weight of the boot. If it weighs more than 300 grams, it becomes difficult to carry. The weight of warm boots for hiking in the forest can reach two kilograms. But after several hours of wearing, your legs will start to get tired.
  2. When walking, the entire foot should be used. Chronic fatigue syndrome develops from tight shoes with a raised toe or a hard last. When the foot is constantly in an uncomfortable position, this contributes to pathological changes in the joints.
  3. The smell will say a lot about the quality. To determine which shoes are best for winter, just smell them. The smell of chemical reagents is a sign of cheap noname products. Formaldehyde may have been used during production; its harmful fumes will be absorbed into the skin through socks. If the product is made from environmentally friendly pure materials, it smells practically nothing.
  4. Hiking boots are best for rough terrain. They are convenient for those who walk a lot, jog on forest paths or take long walks with children.
  5. In order not to overpay, you need to learn to distinguish artificial leather from genuine leather. Synthetics are colder and often have a pungent odor. On the reverse side, leatherette looks like regular fabric. The natural material is covered with small fibers on the inside, reminiscent of suede.

For stylish boots you need good clothes, models for sports will keep you warm and will not limit freedom of movement. In the Stayer online store you can create a set with any boots. Poor-quality shoes or boots that do not fit and press when walking lead to calluses and deformation of the feet. The main advice on how to choose quality shoes concerns avoiding beautiful and uncomfortable pairs. You are buying shoes, not a vase, so comfort should come first. And after that - aesthetics.

It is better to make purchases in specialized shoe stores of famous brands. Here they won’t look at you suspiciously if you stare at the last of your boot for more than 5 minutes, and they won’t dissuade you from bending the sole. Why? Consultants know that their product range will stand up to the test.

· Trying on is required. Before choosing quality shoes, try them on. Walk around the hall and make sure that the pair fits correctly: it fits tightly on your leg, but does not press.

· Everything should be natural. Upper, lining, insole. Ideal materials are leather and suede. They absorb moisture and protect the skin from irritation.

· Casual shoes are comfortable shoes. Nothing will distract you in the office or on the subway during rush hour if you prefer a stable heel or a solid sole to high stilettos. The optimal lifting height is 2–4 cm.

· Orthopedic insoles. Arch supports in shoes will protect the foot from deformation and relieve the load. Since you care about your health, choose shoes with orthopedic insoles, it is she who is considered to be of high quality.

Varnish, nubuck, suede, leather - let's talk about materials

For any season, the optimal material is genuine leather. It does not block access to oxygen and does not interfere with natural heat exchange. The foot feels comfortable and does not sweat.

The leather can be smooth and varnished, as well as with pile. The latter type includes natural suede, velor, nubuck. Patent leather shoes do not allow air to pass through well, so they are not suitable for summer. Another disadvantage of glossy leather is its susceptibility to mechanical damage and temperature changes (it cracks when the thermometer drops to -10 and rises above +25 degrees). Since we choose high-quality shoes for a certain season, these points should be taken into account.

Capricious and suede. It treats scratches and abrasions more easily, but removing dust and dirt is difficult, even when using a special rubber brush. Nubuck and velor also stain and wear over time, but are better able to withstand moisture. To prevent boots made of nubuck from getting wet, treat them with water-repellent agents before going out.

Choosing shoes according to the season

Summer

For summer you should not choose patent leather shoes, as they do not allow air to pass through well - this does not mean that the shoes are of less quality, this is logical for your comfort. It is better to leave the gloss for publication. Open sandals are appropriate for everyday life ( female version), moccasins and brogues (men's) made of genuine leather or textiles.

Spring-autumn

Boots for the off-season should not allow water to pass through. This means that if they have zippers, the latter ideally reach the sole. Speaking of the sole. The thicker it is, the better - this is the only way you will find yourself above the puddles, and not in them. Make sure there are a few millimeters between the boot and your foot. These are not sandals or sandals to wear on bare feet.

Winter

How to choose quality shoes for the winter? Here, as in the case of the spring-autumn season, the sole is important. It should be thick (at least 1.5–2 cm) and ribbed. The relief on the tread prevents slipping, which means injuries on ice.

The next point is the lining. Boots and boots made of natural sheep fur or sheepskin will protect against colds and flu. Remember the rule of keeping your feet warm?

We look for defects and reject poor quality

· Smooth/rough inner surface. The seams and joints are flat. Nails and fasteners cannot be felt through the insoles. Otherwise, you have a marriage that will rub your feet.

· Rolled/open edges. If the heel is sewn in one piece, it is genuine leather. Since choosing high-quality shoes is your task, refuse a product in which the seams are carefully hidden. Manufacturers disguise the neatness of leatherette.

· Flexible/hard sole. The soles of the right shoes, shoes and boots are flexible. It should bend easily and not crack. The exception is models on wedges and platforms.

· Correct/wrong heel. If you place the pair on a flat surface, it stands stable. The toe, turned up 1.5–2 cm, compensates for the rise. The heel is located under the heel and does not move back when you press on the insole. The absence of at least one sign is not in favor of the pair being evaluated.

· Straight/irregular seams. Since when choosing high-quality shoes, you rate them according to a number of parameters, do not forget about the stitching. It should be straight, without defects, with a stitch length of 2–3 mm. If the stitch is less than 2 mm, the perforation effect is triggered when worn, which threatens the boot coming apart at the seams.

We have provided a solid list of parameters by which products are evaluated. We hope you find them useful when you decide to buy winter boots or shoes for going out.

Sports boots

What winter shoes do athletes choose? Of course, sports. The answer is obvious. In addition, these types of boots are ideal for everyday wear. Modern technologies, synthetic compounds that make boots light and at the same time warm - these are the main advantages of life in the sport style.

Each of us faces almost every year, and sometimes more often, with the choice and purchase of shoes. It is important to choose not only beautiful looking shoes, but also high-quality shoes, which will ensure the durability and wearing comfort of the purchased product. Incorrectly selected and low-quality shoes, shoes, boots, sandals can put pressure, lead to foot deformities and calluses, and will not last long. And in order not to make a mistake, you need to know the basic rules of choice. In this article we will answer a very popular question: how to choose quality shoes?

What should you pay attention to?

There are several signs that will help you choose good shoes without much effort:

  • Material.
  • Sole.
  • Smell.
  • Price.

Let's look at them in more detail.

  • Choose shoes that are made from natural materials. High-quality and good products are made in 90% of cases from the skin of animals such as pigs, calfs and goats.

Important! The most durable is calfskin, and the thinnest is goatskin. Not only the surface should be leather, but also the lining and insole. Such shoes are more expensive, but the foot is comfortable in them and does not sweat.

  • Carefully examine the surface of the material on the pair you choose. It can be fleecy, smooth, varnished. The paint on the insole and outer material can give away a fake or low-quality material. A high-quality product has a rich and uniform color, without streaks or tints.
  • Shoes made of patent leather are less breathable than regular leather. A product made of such material will be hot in the summer. It is also impractical in winter, since frost can cause the material to crack.
  • Before purchasing a product, conduct a small experiment: walk over the surface with a damp cloth (wet wipe), and then with a dry cloth white. If traces of paint remain on it, then you have a very low quality pair in your hands.

Important! The same test can be carried out on the insole, because if it is made of low-quality material, it will spoil tights and light-colored socks. Yes, and problems with unpleasant smell will appear with a 90% probability.

  • Foam rubber or leatherette under the insole does not allow air to pass through, which can lead to fungal foot infections.

Important! It is best to purchase shoes in specialized stores, where you can view certificates and receive a guarantee.

Flexible sole and seams

You need to carefully inspect the sole of the product:

  • High-quality shoes have fairly flexible, soft soles. To figure out which sole is in front of you, bend the shoes, bringing the toe closer to the back. If this is done easily enough, then such a product will serve you for many years.
  • An important factor is the heels. If you are holding in your hands a product that has heels of dubious quality, then you are looking at a product that will not last long.
  • Look at the seams very carefully. They must be well made - perfectly straight, sewn with stitches of 2-3 mm. If the stitching is smaller, the perforation effect may occur during wear, which will lead to the stitch breaking.

No smell

Good shoes do not have an unpleasant chemical smell, glue or solvent. The product emits an unobtrusive odor or is completely absent.

Price

Shoes good quality won't be cheap. Don’t chase a low price; it’s not for nothing that the saying “The miser pays twice” exists.

Possible defects:

  • Carefully inspect the heel of the selected product - it may be sewn in one piece, and not decorated with the usual vertical straight seam. It can also be overlaid (when its cut can be seen) and with the edges tucked inward. If the heel part is turned inward, this most often indicates that the product is not made of genuine leather. In this way, the manufacturer is trying to hide the low grade of the material.
  • Pay attention to the heel. Place both pairs on a flat surface. High-quality shoes should stand firmly on the entire surface of the heels, otherwise the heels may become loose, which will lead to breakage of the instep supports. Heels are made from rubber, plastic, wood or metal. They can be solid or made of two or more materials. Plastic is very fragile, and wood rots from moisture.

Important! A metal rod is placed inside the thin plastic pins for reinforcement. The softer the material and the worse the quality of the metal, the more likely it is that the heel will break. If the metal rod is not inserted the entire length of the heel, this will also lead to breakage of the heel on the shoes or boots.
