How to sew a dress for a 5 year old girl. We are sewing an elegant dress for the New Year for our daughter! several options for very easy tailoring (every mother can handle it)

Sewing is best for very young children elegant dress, which will consist of separate parts - a bodice and a skirt (in my version - a dress with a double skirt: a tutu and a sun), which can not only be easily put on and taken off, but also combined with each other and other types of clothing. I decided to decorate the outfit beautiful belt with flowers self made made from satin ribbons.

A photo containing several ideas that will help you create an elegant dress for your daughter:

And here is the dress I ended up with:

DIY elegant dress for a girl

Full tutu skirt

You will need:

  • soft pink tulle - 4 m,
  • scissors,
  • elastic band for clothes, thickness 2 cm, length – girl’s waist circumference minus 3 cm.
  • We cut the tulle into rectangular pieces 30 cm long and 20 cm wide. There is no need to cut the pieces individually, we can cut them in a pack, folding them several times and then cutting them off. It's very fast. Then we take an elastic band and tie it to the back of the chair. We tie pieces of tulle to the elastic band in two knots. This is how we tie the entire elastic band. We trim the ends of the material so that the skirt looks neat. A fluffy tutu skirt can be made in half an hour.

    Tatyanka skirt

    You will need:

    0.5 m of fabric is enough for both the skirt and the bodice of the dress. The fabric we need for the skirt is white guipure with floral patterns. Cut a piece of fabric 100 cm long by 15 cm.

    We sew the fabric on the side where it is 15 cm. We have a double rectangle, with sides 15 cm and 50 cm. On the long side we make a hem of 3 cm and stitch it, the length of the skirt has become 12 cm (it is necessary to leave a small hole in order to to skip the elastic). We use an elastic band for clothing that is the same length as for a full tutu skirt. We thread the elastic through and iron it. The bottom edge can be processed if necessary. I didn't do this because there was a fabric edge. The Tatyana skirt is ready! By appearance this skirt reminds me of .

    Bodice

    The fabric is the same as for sewing a Tatyanka skirt - guipure. I have no cutting and sewing experience, so I used my daughter's T-shirt as a basis. I attached it to the newspaper and traced the outline - I got a bodice pattern. After that, I made allowances for the seams and increased the width so that it would be convenient to take off and put on the bodice of the dress, since guipure fabric does not stretch.

    To make the dress's tank top seem more festive, I made short cap sleeves. To do this, I cut out small strips along an oblique line, rounded the quack, overcast it in a zigzag, slightly gathered it and sewed it to the bodice trims.

    To make it easier to put on the bodice, you can fasten it along the back with hinged loops and buttons from top to top. The neckline of the bodice was hemmed with a hem seam with an open cut.

    Belt with flowers made of satin ribbons

    For the belt, guipure fabric measuring 1 m by 8 cm is used. We fold the fabric in half (you get a double piece of fabric 1 m long and 4 cm wide), and iron it to make it easier to stitch. We trim on three sides. The belt is ready!

    We decorate the belt with satin flowers. We will make: 3 flowers (1 lilac and 2 pink), 3 lilac buds, 3 leaves.

    You will need:

  • 1 m satin ribbon lilac color;
  • 2 m pink satin ribbon;
  • a little green satin ribbon;
  • pink threads, needle, scissors and candle.
  • Manufacturing:

    Making a lilac rose. To do this, you need to cut out 11 petals and 3 petals for the buds. Therefore, we divide 1 m of tape into 14 approximately equal pieces. We cut out the circles, you can put several pieces of tape together and cut them out. We got 14 circles. Then we take a candle and scorch the edges so that the fabric does not fray.

    Now you can start creating the rose. We take one circle, fold it into a tube and sew it at the bottom so that it does not unravel. We twist the second circle on both sides and sew it to the first petal. We also sew on the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th circles. You can sew on all the circles, but I glued the rest so that the threads would not be visible. We have 3 lilac circles left. We twist and sew each circle.

    Take a green satin ribbon and cut three squares. We singe the ends and glue them diagonally. The result is a triangle.

    We take a sewn lilac circle, dip its tip in glue and place it in our green triangle. We do the same with the remaining two. We got 3 buds.

    From a green satin ribbon we cut out 3 shapes that look like flower leaves. We burn them over a candle. The sheets are ready.

    Now all that's left to do is make two pink roses. We make them in the same sequence as we did the lilac rose.

    We measure the middle of the belt and glue a lilac rose, on the left and right sides of it we glue pink flowers, then glue the petals and buds.

    Headband

    To complement the fancy dress, I made a rose headband. To do this, I took stretch lace (stretchy), measured the circumference of the child’s head, subtracted 1 cm from the measurement, cut out a strip, and sewed the ends. Then I made a rose, 3 leaves, 1 bud. I glued them to the lace. This is how the headband turned out.

    Carnival costume - an elegant dress for a girl with festive accessories is ready! We have added one more interesting item to the children's room.

    Modern fashion offers a wide selection of beautiful and elegant dresses for girls. However, truly exclusive dress models are only those that you have sewn with your own hands. In this dress, your little princess will be irresistible at any celebration. But in our section “Dress Patterns for Girls” we offer not only elegant dresses, but also casual style dresses – those that a child can wear every day.

    Many children love simple, comfortable clothes - trousers and turtlenecks. But you can also combine dresses with them. There are many models of children's dresses that go very well with denim trousers, light sweaters or leggings. This alternative combination will not only please your girl, but it is in this type of clothing that she will be most comfortable.

    So where to start if you want to sew a new dress for your girl? Of course, from a sketch. Draw a dress pattern for a girl on paper, think through all the details: style, fastener, pockets, trim, length, color, fabric, etc. When creating a dress style, study designer fashion trends, show your imagination, talk to the customer - find out what exactly does your girl want a dress? Does she have any suggestions for style or color? Then remove it from the child and build it, according to which you will model the future dress pattern.

    The next stage is the most creative - modeling the style of the dress according to your artistic sketch. Apply modeling lines, undercuts to the base pattern, add gathers or folds, mark places for pockets, fasteners, etc.

    Important! Before we open natural fabrics Cotton and wool should be decated - wet-heat treatment. Artificial fabrics processing is not necessary because they do not shrink. Lay out the dress pattern pieces on the fabric folded in half along the grain and cut out with seam allowances. Then sew the dress.

    We have developed ready-made dress patterns for girls with detailed description the entire modeling process. You can choose the dress you like and, using our tips, sew amazing dresses for your girl!

    This summer dress for a girl can claim to be the most fashionable model of the season, because this summer bare shoulders are more popular than ever. And precisely in this version - when the lower part of the sleeve is sewn into the armhole, and the collar is open. But besides open shoulders and flirty bows, this dress amazingly combines loose fit, and wide at the bottom, which creates a very summery, flying silhouette. Every girl will be delighted with such a new thing, which will not be difficult for her mother or grandmother to sew.

    You can sew this cute dress with a yoke for a girl yourself in just a couple of hours. To make the dress look impressive, choose three companion fabrics for it: the main one is plain rich in color fabric, fabric with a print for the yoke - for example, with watermelon seeds, as on our model, with polka dots or small flowers, the third fabric must be contrasting - white or milky. It is in this combination that the dress will truly sparkle with summer colors!

Despite the fact that they look luxurious and not at all childish, you can sew such dresses very quickly, because they do not involve complex modeling. The whole secret is in the right accents - bright fabrics and white floral appliqués, alternating small and large flower patterns.

    Who is looking forward to the New Year the most? Of course, children! Girls and boys write letters to Santa Claus, hoping to receive a long-awaited gift, and sincerely believe that grandfather knows everything in the world and will definitely give them that beautiful doll, a car or a computer game, which they described in detail in their letter to the most important Wizard of the upcoming holiday. But while the children are writing letters, let’s not disturb them, but let’s do something useful and creative activity– let’s make beautiful New Year’s dresses for our girls!

    3. Detailed master class on sewing dresses for girls from Elena (Elena laitdream)

    A dress for a girl turns out to be super budget-friendly. It could be dad's shirt and a little lace, mom's skirt and some kind of applique, or a funny-sized piece of fabric - a remnant from her sewn dress.

    Children's dress r 86-92 .

    Dress Materials:

    · Fabric that holds its shape (cotton, linen, gabardine, crepe, shirt fabric, etc.): with a width of 1 m - 0.8 m, with a width of 1.5 m - 0.5 m

    · Zipper or button closure

    · Cotton, lawn for lining – 0.6 m at any width

    · Trim: lace – 2.5 m, 3 buttons

    Girls, sorry for the corrections in the pattern: at first I wanted to give a more universal one (front-back clasp), and then I realized that I would only confuse those who are not yet very smart at “swimming” in this matter... But, alas, I no longer have the strength to redraw it! ))))) only the crossed out words were corrected - they are not needed, the rest is completely correct.

    1. Open it up. Using the patterns, we cut out the parts: front – 1 part with a fold, back – 2 parts, skirt – one part with a fold.

    2. Assembling and processing the top of the dress:

    a. We assemble the dress along the shoulder sections, trim the allowances to a comfortable size - 1-1.5 cm, and iron them. Leave the side seams open.

    b. On a flap cotton fabric, which will be used as a lining, we apply the resulting part face to face

    c. We carefully smooth out the details, making sure that the front of the dress and the lining match perfectly. We chop off the parts and cut out the lining

    d. In this case, it is not necessary to baste; you can prick the tailor’s pins like this and safely stitch along them: the machine easily passes over the pins if they are inserted clearly perpendicular to the stitch line, and the chance that the machine’s needle will hit the pin is minimal.

    e. We line up the neckline and both armholes, iron them, cut off the allowances to 0.5-0.7, and if necessary, cut the allowances at the rounded areas. Please note that we sew the beginning and end of each armhole along the side seam allowance slightly obliquely - this is important.

    f. Having placed the resulting part with the lining up and the front towards you, we place our hand between the dress and the lining, with the other hand we help ourselves and pull the back lining towards us through the shoulder tunnels

    .

    Repeat with the other half of the back. Straighten the inverted part.

    g. Carefully sweep out the edge of the armholes and neckline, making sure that the 1 mm roll goes to the wrong side of the dress - then the lining will not be visible. We iron it to make sure it’s done well and stitch it along the front side of the dress.

    h. We grind side seams, not forgetting to make a reliable fastening at the armhole itself. To do this, I do this: I start stitching from the armhole to the waist line, but not from the very edge of the armhole, but stepping back 3-5 mm from the processed edge of the armhole. I sew two or three stitches, turn on the reverse and return the stitch to the very edge of the armhole, then, releasing the reverse, I sew a regular stitch. Why is this so? – the beginning of the stitching will be inside the seam, the beginning of the side seam will be secure and without any knots. We process the cuts (zigzag, overlock) and manually secure the side seam allowances at the armhole. The corners of the allowances should be below the edge of the armhole so that they do not peek out. It was for this purpose that we made slightly beveled lines along the allowances at the beginning and end of the armhole (see point 4).

    3. Connecting the top of the dress and the skirt. We fold the skirt and top of the dress face to face, carefully aligning the marked pattern lines so that after sewing the middle back seam, all the lines clearly coincide. We sew down the waist seam, overcast the edges and iron the seam allowances upward. Place the lace on the waist seam line, sew along both edges if the lace is wide, and along the bottom edge at the waist if it is narrow.

    4. Clasp. Stitching back seam dresses, paying close attention to the perfect match of all lines in the “middle” section seam line waist." We iron the middle seam as follows: the left back part – we fold the seam allowance to the wrong side, the right back part – we don’t fold the seam allowance, we leave it even. We process the slices separately. We manually sew the allowance on the left back part to the neckline and baste it air loop for a button. On the right part we sew a button under the fastener.

    Advice: You can decorate the dress with a zipper, but then you definitely need a non-hidden zipper, because... a hidden zipper will be a bit harsh for delicate baby skin.

    5. Dress hem. We draw the hem line. To do this, we process the cut with an overlock or zigzag, apply lace to the face of the skirt and stitch it either with a small zigzag or with a double needle, depending on the thickness of the fabric and lace.

    6. Iron the dress. Ready.

    Important! If there is no single piece of fabric for lining or the size of the future dress is such that it does not fit into the existing width of the fabric, then the same thing can be made from a stitched lining. To do this, we cut out the front and back parts from the lining fabric and connect them according to shoulder seams, iron it - and then work as if it were a single piece. Small condition– it is necessary to ensure that the shoulder seams match and carefully trim the seam allowances so that there is no noticeable thickening at the junction of the seam of the dress and the lining.

    Below is a description of sewing an elegant christening dress from one of our readers.

    I originally planned to make a beautiful dress for my niece that she could wear to her christening and a couple of other holidays. I liked this model for its simplicity and the ability to choose a pattern for the desired size. My niece has already slightly outgrown 92, but does not reach 98 cm (the girl is 2.5 years old). I decided to sew a little longer and chose a 98 cm pattern. As it turned out later, I did the right thing, because it fit with difficulty. I printed and cut out the patterns, for sewing I chose white chintz as the main fabric and lace as the additional upper tier of the skirt. I bought 2.5 meters of lace braid, three flower bows and 2 meters of thin braid with rhinestones. Although the pattern came with sleeves and I even cut them out, I did not sew them in. I decided that this dress would look nicer without them. I made double patterns for the body up to the waist so that the chintz would not show through and would look neater. Then I sewed all the details in them, I got patterns up to the waist in two copies. I sewed the necklines, head slits and turned the product right side out. After that, I stitched from the front side of the armhole, first folding the ends and running thin lace along the seams so that they were not noticeable. The top of the product was almost ready. I would like to note that I cut exactly according to the patterns at 98 cm, and did not make additional seam allowances. And then, when the dress was ready, it fit snugly. Therefore, if you are sewing exactly to your size, then add additional allowances so that the girl fits well. You can also slightly enlarge the neckline, sew a zipper at the back or add small buttons. In order for the child’s head to pass through without problems, it is necessary that the two halves of the back are sewn together only at the very bottom and leave a deep cut. I got a little stuck on this and had to embroider it twice, making more.
    Afterwards, I started cutting out the bottom, only I decided to make the top lace layer of the skirt more fluffy and therefore did not cut it like the bottom one, but simply gathered it together and stitched it in place. I cut the bottom layer exactly according to finished pattern. It turned out very elegant and the length was just right. I trimmed the bottom of the top lace layer with rhinestone braid. So that the threads would not be conspicuous, I sharpened them with a very thin fishing line. It was transparent and unnoticeable. I trimmed the bottom layer of the dress with lace. Then I connected the top and bottom of the dress from the inside out and machined all the edges. I wanted the bottom of the dress to somehow sparkle - for this I lightly grabbed it in an accordion and lifted the ends of the skirt in front on both sides. I sewed a white flower into the gripping areas and another one on the left chest. To make the dress look even more elegant, I bought a very wide transparent mesh ribbon with large flowers embroidered with white braid. I sewed it at the waist to the outside of the dress using hand stitches with clear thin fishing line. Because of his big size it turned out that the top of the braid was under the bust, and the bottom went over the lace skirt. But it looked good. On the back of the slit I sewed a small button and made an air loop from white threads. But since, as I already wrote, the cut had to be lengthened, at least three buttons were needed. I finished them off later. This is where my work with the dress ended - it turned out very airy and beautiful.

    In any children's store you will find a lot of dresses for little fashionistas, be it festive or knitted. Leading fashion houses also do not deprive their youngest clients of attention. But quite often, children's things cost so much that the mother will think three hundred times before taking out her wallet. Do you want to dress up a child or teenager, but finances don’t allow it? You can do a lot yourself if you try hard enough. Where can I get patterns for children's dresses for beginners? Making simple patterns with your own hands is not difficult at all and is free; we will now talk about some of the methods.

    Not everyone knows about this, but to sew a dress for a girl, a pattern is not at all necessary! Without a pattern you can sew:

    • folk style outfit;
    • ball gown;
    • summer sundress.

    Are you wondering where to start? Let's do the sundress then - it's the easiest thing. But first you need to take some measurements - it’s best to write them down if you are not going to limit yourself to just one product.

    Measure:

    • the growth of your little daughter;
    • chest girth;
    • waist circumference;
    • hip girth;
    • shoulder length;
    • sleeve length (you won’t need it for a sundress, but if you’ve already taken measurements, it’s useful to do everything at once);
    • expected length of the product.

    Important! For a sundress with straps, measure the length of the product from the armpit to the expected hemline.

    Choosing fabric

    In general, sewing for small children is a pleasure. The seams are short, little fabric is needed, no darts or complex details. The simpler the style, the better. Just choose beautiful fabric, and even the most basic, but neatly sewn dress will look like on a princess.

    Important! You can also use scraps left over from your mother’s new dress, or alter something of your own for your daughter – good, but already boring.

    If you are choosing a material for a summer sundress, it is better to choose one that drapes well:

    • crepe de Chine;
    • chiffon;
    • thin chintz;
    • satin;
    • poplin;
    • gauze.

    Important! Chintz fits just perfectly - inexpensive, very hygienic, bright, suitable for New Year's dress. And it’s okay that it fades quickly - anyway, by next summer my daughter will outgrow this dress.

    Also, to sew baby clothes, light dress do it yourself, you need:

    • linen elastic;
    • braid to match the fabric - for straps and edging.

    We sew a sundress

    Perhaps this model with elastic and straps is the simplest DIY dress for a girl. If you are sewing it from an opaque fabric, it will be a single layer. It is better to fold the gauze in two layers or make a cover. Below are photo sketches.

    Operating procedure:

    1. Spread the fabric in one layer with the wrong side up.
    2. Draw a top line perpendicular to the edges.
    3. From this line, set down the length of the product, plus allowances for the drawstring at the top and for processing the bottom - you can immediately mark the lines of the drawstring.
    4. Through this mark, draw another perpendicular to the edges.
    5. Along the line that runs along the lobar, set aside a segment equal to the circumference of the chest, multiplied by 1.5 or 2 (depending on how well the fabric drapes: if it is gauze, it is better to make lush gathers, if chintz or satin - more modest ).
    6. Cut out the part.

    Assembling a sundress

    How to sew child dress with your own hands? Very simple. This model has only one seam, plus bottom processing, plus a drawstring:

    1. Start with the drawstring - iron the top edge to the wrong side, then bend the fold 0.5 cm and stitch it all together (it’s better to make a decorative stitch on the front side).
    2. Sew the back seam along the wrong side, leaving the area near the drawstring unsealed so that you can insert the elastic.
    3. Insert the rubber band.
    4. Try the blank on your daughter.
    5. Mark the places for the straps.
    6. Cut 2 pieces of braid and sew on the straps.
    7. Hem the bottom - hand hem or topstitch.
    8. Along the hem you can sew the same braid from which the straps are made.

    Important! The straps of this sundress can be tied.

    Sundress on a yoke

    If you need a dress for a girl, you can sew it yourself from two different fabrics. For example, take satin for the yoke, and crepe de chine for the bottom. But nothing prevents you from constructing a similar thing from the same material.

    This summer dress with a yoke is also made like a sundress, only the straps are better made wide and from the same fabric as the yoke, and this model does not have a drawstring.

    Important! It is better to cut out the yoke first on paper - it looks like a strip 5-6 cm wide and a length equal to the half-circumference of the chest. There will be 4 parts - two for the front and two for the back. Like these ones simple patterns children's dresses for beginners can be used.

    Operating procedure:

    1. Lay out the fabric lengthwise (you can use two layers at once).
    2. Cut out 4 strips of the specified size from it (do not forget to add allowances for all cuts) - the grain thread coincides with the short side.
    3. Cut out the hem - to do this, subtract the width of the yoke from the total length of the product (like the previous model, it is measured from the armpit to the bottom).
    4. Cut out 2 straps - these are also strips 5-6 cm wide, but, unlike the yoke, when cutting, the grain thread coincides with the long side.

    Straps

    Start assembling this model by preparing the straps:

    1. Fold the strips in half with right sides facing out.
    2. Place the long seams inside.
    3. Iron them.
    4. Topstitch the seam and topstitch the straps around the entire perimeter.

    Yoke

    To quickly sew a baby dress with your own hands, connect the yoke with the straps, and then sew on the bottom:

    1. We sweep the strips in pairs: one for the outside, the other for the inside.
    2. We sweep each one into a ring.
    3. Let's try one of them on a model.
    4. We mark out places for the straps - both on the part of the yoke that will be on the outside and on the part on the inside.
    5. Carefully rip apart the basting and straighten the rings.
    6. We fold the strips intended for the front part with the right sides facing each other.
    7. We put straps between them.
    8. Sew together the top seam.
    9. We turn the yoke inside out so that the long parts of the straps should be on the front side.
    10. Iron the seam.
    11. We do the same with the back parts - after you stitch them, the straps should be sewn in.
    12. We sew together the side seams of the yoke - the allowances should be on the inside.

    Assembling a summer dress

    Your yoke with straps is ready. All that remains is to stitch the hem, but first you need to prepare it:

    1. Sew the back seam.
    2. Press the seam allowances to the sides.
    3. Sew along the line of stitching to the yoke with a basting stitch and make gathers.
    4. Place the top edge of the main part between the yoke pieces and baste.
    5. Sew the main part to the yoke.

    The dress is almost ready, all that remains is to trim the bottom.

    Dress according to pattern

    You can sew a children's dress with your own hands using a pattern. Clothing for small children is also good because many things can be sewn using the same patterns. For example, on a T-shirt or tank top. To do this, it is not at all necessary to rip the thing apart - you can simply circle it. It's better to do this on paper first so you can model the cutout:

    1. Trace the shirt.
    2. For the back straight dress simply continue the side lines down to the desired length.
    3. For the shelf, also continue the lines down to the same length.
    4. Find the middle of the cutout.
    5. Draw a line down from this point.
    6. Set aside 2 cm.
    7. Connect this new point to the beginning of the shoulder seams.
    1. Cut out 2 parts - front and back.
    2. Cut out the facings for the neckline and armholes - just trace them first along the contour of the pattern, and then make a parallel outline at a distance of 2.5-3 cm (you need to outline by aligning the front side of the part with the back of the facing).
    3. Sew the shoulder and side seams of the main parts, pressing the allowances to the sides.
    4. Sew the neck pieces along the shoulder seams.
    5. Press seam allowances.
    6. Turn the main dress inside out.
    7. Baste the facings so that their right sides are on the wrong side of the dress.
    8. Sew facings along the cutouts.
    9. Fold the free edges 0.5 cm and stitch - better finishing stitch from the front side.
    10. After that, all you have to do is trim the bottom.

    DIY elegant dress for a girl

    Are you thinking about how to dress up a princess for a party, but you have almost no time left? Nothing complicated. Now we will talk about how to sew a children's dress with full skirt- This the best option, and you can do it in a couple of hours.

    You will need:

    • material for the top (if you have a beautiful swimsuit or bodysuit, it will be absolutely fine - the top can be made from these items);
    • tulle or guipure for a skirt;
    • wide elastic band for the belt;
    • large compass;
    • long ruler.

    Top

    The top is made in the same way as for simple dress sleeveless - that is, a T-shirt is outlined, but only to the waist. The cutout is modeled.

    If you are sewing a dress from a swimsuit, simply cut off the bottom part or turn the swimsuit into a bodysuit by cutting it between the legs and sewing an inconspicuous button there. Why do you need a clasp? Then, so that your little princess does not feel any inconvenience and does not rack her brains over what to do if the need arises to go to the toilet.

    We start assembling from the top - we simply sew the parts together in the same way as when making any other clothing. You can immediately process the top and armholes, unless, of course, you are going to sew in a zipper.

    Making a skirt

    A circle skirt looks just perfect on a little girl. It can be floor-length or very short, in the style of a dude. You only need two measurements - waist circumference and the length of the skirt itself.

    Important! What to sew from? A brilliant invention of designers - tulle. Keeps its shape perfectly - no need to starch. You can cut it however you like; it costs nothing to cut out several layers at once.

    It’s better to make a template in advance:

    1. Calculate the construction, the radius of the notch - divide the waist circumference by 6.28.
    2. Draw a circle with this radius on a piece of paper.
    3. Add the length of the product to the radius.
    4. Draw a second circle from the same center - you will get a ring.
    5. Cut out several layers of tulle - they can be the same, but you can make ruffles of different lengths.

    Your next steps depend on what the top is made of.
