Olivia Palermo is an internationally recognized fashionista and style icon. The girl became famous thanks to the reality show “The City”, covering the life of the Manhattan elite. But she gained worldwide fame thanks to her excellent taste and unique style. Fashion designers are proud to be friends with her, and “street style” photographers love her because Olivia never disappoints them. Every appearance is just confirmation that Olivia Palermo is a girl with impeccable taste.

Let's figure out the secrets of her style!

Despite the fact that the “fashionista” wears many different things and endlessly experiments with styles, her style is recognizable. This happens thanks to certain “iconic” things in a girl’s wardrobe.

Knitwear

Probably, no one in the world “fashionista” loves knitwear as much or wears knitwear as often as Olivia does. Her collection has everything: jumpers, sweaters, cardigans, pullovers, knitted dresses. A soft, cozy knit makes anyone feel relaxed, and in contrast with a bright fur coat or extravagant shoes, it makes the look moderately careless. Olivia's style seems to say: “I know everything about fashion, but I never chase it.”

.

Midi length

Olivia loves to look feminine and elegant, and nothing helps achieve this more than a midi-length skirt. She especially likes to pair a mid-calf length dress or skirt with elegant boots or unusual stiletto sandals. The result is the image of a modern lady. However, she also pays attention to flat shoes: ballet flats, loafers, boots and sneakers are used to create more relaxed looks, for example, walking with her dog Mr. Butler.

Bombers

You can absolutely wear things related to sports differently. Olivia, for example, prefers to combine them with something feminine. For example, with the already mentioned flying midi skirts - for attending fashion shows. Moreover, shoes do not necessarily have to be high heels. The girl is not afraid to wear ballet flats or flat boots and look quite relaxed at a social event. For everyday looks, she adds cigarette pants to her look, skinny jeans or leather trousers. Completes the outfit comfortable shoes. Olivia has a whole collection of different bomber jackets. But her favorite is the bomber jacket with her name embroidered on the back.

Leather pants

Everyone wears jeans, including Olivia herself. But it was Olivia (or her stylists, whose presence she persistently denies) who came up with the idea of wearing leather trousers so lightly, as a basic wardrobe item. Leather pants became her trademark. She wears them like fashion shows, and for walks or dates. This is really her basic trouser model.

Accessories

The “it-girl” herself describes her style as “accessory-based.” She even adds interesting details to jeans and a vest, immediately becoming the subject of hunting for “street style” photographers. Her absolute must-have is unusual necklaces. Some time ago she even appeared in African necklaces, adding them to summer looks with a hint of safari style. It's still impossible to see Olivia without a pair of glasses. They especially “rescue” her when she is being pursued by “paparazzi”. After all glasses are the best way to protect yourself from outbreaks.

Scarves, earrings, rings, fur scarves. In general, the girl loves accessories. She is regularly invited to collaborate with fashion brands as a creative director. For example, the Meli Melo brand recently released bucket-shaped bags in collaboration with Olivia Palermo. Now bags of this shape are the hit of the season.

Coat

In the cold season, the “it-girl” prefers to keep warm with a coat. She experiments a lot with styles and shapes, but her favorites remain the overcoat and the A-line coat in the style of the 60s. These are classics of world fashion, but Olivia manages to present them fresh and unique every time.

Shoes

Olivia herself once said that she would never wear “ugly shoes.” By such shoes she meant shoes with distorted proportions and size. Something similar is now being produced, for example, by Balenciaga. The most appropriate epithet for Olivia's shoes is “elegant.” Of course, this goes without saying when we talk about sandals or pumps that fashionistas love so much. What’s much more interesting is that her everyday shoes are also elegant. Neatly shaped sneakers and sneakers. The less decorations they have, the better. Let's say there's an accent: a buckle or embroidery. But the line of elegance is never crossed. This girl will never, ever wear the now so fashionable voluminous sneakers painted in graffiti style.

Interview with Olivia Palermo for DeanPiper.com (published February 19, 2011)

D.P.: Do you think English style can be compared with American chic?
O.P.: I think English girls have a very edgy style and a kind of daring chic. As for American women, they are more well-groomed. When I think about english style, then I imagine a girl dressed in a short skirt and leather jacket.

D.P.:Whose style in the UK do you consider to be the most impeccable?
O.P.: You can't go wrong by calling Kate Moss a style icon. She is gorgeous. By the way, Cheryl Cole's style is also getting better day by day. To be honest, I think all my British friends who are into fashion have impeccable style. They are my little celebrities.

D.P.: By the way, very soon Cheryl Cole will go to the USA to judge the American version of the X Factor show. What advice would you give her so that she would achieve the same success with her styles as You?
O.P.: I wouldn't give her any style advice. Honestly, I think everyone should do what they do. Own style Cheryl paints her very well, many people imitate her, so I believe that she will be in demand on the American market.

D.P.: We heard that you are working on creating your own clothing line...
O.P.: Yes it is. I don't know when it will be released because it's a long time before production starts. The work is in full swing, but there is no solid product yet. I can't tell you all the secrets, but I will say that I draw inspiration from the old Hollywood style.

D.P.: Who do you dream of dressing? Do you think stars will wear outfits designed by you on the red carpet?
O.P.: I would really like my things to be worn stylish women who have taste and love to look good. I would not name any specific names, as I think that these will be girls who have a sense of style and who know how to emphasize their individuality. This would be the best reward for me.

D.P.:Would you like Kate Middleton to wear your clothes?
O.P.: I don't care about celebrities, I care about customers. I want them to feel good and comfortable in clothes from my collection. I think it’s important for a woman to be able to choose an outfit that suits her figure.

D.P.:We also heard that you are going to launch your own reality show on television.
O.P.: No, these are just rumors. If I did something on television, it would not be a reality show at all, but a documentary project. In any case, I have no plans for this yet. I want to focus on myself and on working with young designers, but I can’t say anything more, because I myself don’t know what I will end up with.

D.P.:What projects do you have planned for this year?
O.P.: Right now I'm concentrating on my modeling career and it's going pretty well. I really like to travel and get to know new places.

D.P.:How do you manage to stay in such great shape?
O.P.: I think I'm just lucky. I have good genes, my parents are beautifully built.

D.P.:Do you ever overeat at McDonald's?
O.P.: I don't eat at McDonald's because this garbage is very harmful to the body and figure. I try to eat healthy, but I allow myself to eat candy or carbohydrate foods. I love sushi.

Interview by Olivia Palermo for ExposedZippers.com (published October 17, 2011)

E.Z.:You are 25 years old, and you have already been a model, designer, style icon, cover girl, and now you are also a blogger. Which of these are you most excited about?
O.P.: I am inspired by several aspects of this activity. The opportunity to travel and take part in fashion events of various sizes is a huge source of inspiration. My website OliviaPalermo.com will become a huge platform where I can share my impressions of these events with everyone. But more importantly, I will be able to introduce people to other interesting and talented individuals who mean a lot to me and in whom I believe. Everyone needs inspiration. I am inspired by travel, clothing and art, but most of all by the people I get to meet, work with and communicate with. Through my website I will be able to expose these people to an audience.

E.Z.:Who is part of your team and what do they bring to the project?
O.P.: I work with two people who are completely involved in the process. This is my business partner and manager Sandy Hussain and our lovely Teresa Greenfeld, who is the fashion and jewelry editor.
Sandy brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in business, marketing and online strategy. She has been working with me for a year now, and the site is the culmination of our collaboration. We spent more than one night together, coming up with new ideas and visualizing a model of the project, which is brought to life in the Internet space. I would say that together we achieve a certain balance that makes us so comfortable working together.
We've known Teresa for ages. When it comes to style, she literally reads my mind! Initially, she was a writer, but we soon realized that her hard work, undeniable sense of style and willingness to take on a project in the startup stage made her a valuable member of our team.
The essence of the project is that I travel a lot, and we talk about this on our website. I am in constant contact with Teresa and Sandy, overseeing the work process and doing editing and creative work. But even when I'm busy and away from the office, I have complete confidence that my site is in good hands.

E.Z.: How often is your website content updated?
O.P.: In fact, we initially did not expect the site to have so many visitors. This was a big and pleasant surprise for us. As a result, decisions had to be made quickly. We quickly went from one or two articles a day to at least two or three. By December we plan to post five articles daily and so on. We have recently started working with two London partners and plan to develop further.

E.Z.:Do you have a long-term plan for OliviaPalermo.com?
O.P.: Yes, it exists, but it’s too early to activate it. We want to receive more feedback from the audience and continue to grow. But at the heart of our work is the idea of promoting the site to the ranks of international style setters.

E.Z.: Can you describe the process of choosing an outfit for an event? Where does it all begin? What wardrobe item becomes the basis of the image?
O.P.: The process really starts with choosing one item. Is it always the same item? Not necessary. Today it could be a clutch, tomorrow it could be jewelry, and the day after tomorrow it could be a pair of the most beautiful shoes. I always take as a basis something that inspires me and build an image around it. I'm going to talk about this on the site. I also plan to attract stylists who can tell women about choosing their wardrobe. This process is always very individual. The figure of a woman and the colors that suit her are of great importance.

E.Z.:Accessories are always one of the most important components of your look. Can you tell me how many bags you have in your collection?
O.P.: Accessories are the best way to complete any look. This is very important details. The bag I carry most often is the VBH Brera Double Zip bag. This is the best everyday option. I have a collection of fancy bags and simple models. My Hermes clutch, for example, will easily complete any look.

E.Z.:Daphne Guinness has a database that lists everything in her wardrobe. How do you track yours?
O.P.: It is very important to be sure that everything is clean and in order, that everything in the wardrobe is strictly organized. And this, by the way, applies not only to the wardrobe. Due to the fact that I am constantly on the move, I just need to maintain order. I sort things by color, by season, by model. I also have special drawers and compartments for jewelry. A section “Advice for Life” will soon appear on my website, where you can read recommendations for organizing your life and everything that surrounds you.

E.Z.:Rumors spread very quickly. For example, that you are developing your own collection... What things are you going to create first?
O.P.: Designing a collection is something I want to do in the future. Now I devote myself entirely to working on my website, modeling career, and also occupy the position of editor of the Piperlime.com resource and work as a consultant. But design is what I dream about, and I will definitely do it when the time comes.
