Another slightly modified version is when one the end of the scarf is hidden around the knot and is also fixed with a brooch.

A brooch or pin can be hidden under the scarf itself. Here in the photo below on the right we see weak knot in the scarf, which does not slip out only because there is a pin inside it.

You can make a tie knot from such a striped scarf. This method of tying a scarf on a coat is suitable for a fitted coat.
