Wicker cow from newspaper tubes. Newspaper weaving

We offer you to try your hand at the ancient and eternally relevant craft - weaving. However, the material in this case is not a traditional vine, but newsprint, specially twisted into long thin tubes, in many respects resembling a vine and also suitable (and maybe even better) for weaving of varying degrees of complexity - from the simplest, on which you have to "fill your hand", to future masterpieces.

Perhaps in childhood, among many, you studied with interest how your grandmother’s basket is arranged and dreamed of learning how to do something like this sometime. However, the need to search and procure a suitable vine, the lack of a mentor or available information even in rural areas, not to mention urban conditions, forced to give up on interesting and useful needlework, which could be a wonderful hobby. Today a unique opportunity has appeared, and we present it to you.

A lot of ideas can be realized from paper tubes, in fact, everything is the same as from an ordinary vine - baskets, caskets, decorative panels, figures of animals and dolls, bags, photo frames, hanging decorations of the interior and much more that your fantasy will tell you and craftsmanship increasing from product to product. From dense tubes you can even weave some elements of furniture!

Material preparation is an important step

Material for the manufacture of tubes can be very different - from ordinary newspapers for more flexible “twigs” and openwork crafts to dense glossy pages of magazines, the tubes of which are not so flexible, but are perfect for more experienced craftsmen creating durable household items. It is clear that we, as beginners, are more interested in newspapers and other similar grades of paper.

Twisting a tube-twig is quite simple. To do this, you need a knitting needle and strips of paper about 7-10 cm wide. Put the strip in front of you, attach the needle to its lower left corner at an acute angle and, starting from the tip, tightly wind the paper onto the knitting needle, rotating it with your right hand and helping the left across length. The fact that the length of the knitting needle is limited should not worry you: continue to wind up by turning the knitting needle. When at the end there is a small corner of the paper, apply a drop of PVA glue (prepare in advance) and wind it to the end, the glued corner will firmly hold the entire structure. The tube is ready! You will see that it is not at all difficult and after a little practice will take only a few seconds.

Take a fascinating journey from the origins of weaving to the heights of craftsmanship, gradually mastering weaving from newspaper tubes. The article is specially structured and provides information on increasing complexity. In addition, on the occasion of the approaching New Year and Christmas, we have prepared for you a master class on the manufacture of thematic figurines and Christmas decorations. The abundance of photo and video material makes learning even more affordable.

Weaving has been known since ancient times. In any corner of the earth you can find wickerwork, and depending on the place of residence, a person used different materials for this craft. In the harsh northern regions, bark and tree roots were used for weaving. In Canada, today they use needles for making beautiful dishes. In Vietnam and Japan, openwork baskets are made of rice straw, and the original dishes are made of papyrus ribbons twisted into thin ropes. In hot countries, herbs and plant stems are used for weaving, making from them the most necessary household items (guns, rugs, dishes, nets, shoes and much more).
   This craft has gained immense popularity due to the fact that in any era people could use it in everyday life for their needs. The beauty of wickerwork is amazing: from cradles to rocking chairs, from hats to lace baskets, from jewelry to shoes.

Nowadays, weaving is experiencing a rebirth and the most interesting thing is that this type of art began to develop rapidly among the townspeople. Modern man has replaced natural materials with more accessible materials in the city - sheets of old magazines and newspapers. This ingenious idea has helped many people of all ages master the beautiful craft and decorate their homes.
The beauty of weaving is its accessibility. It allows you to create not only pleasing to the eye, but often useful things in the household. Weaving from newspaper tubes can be done together with the child, pleasure is guaranteed to all participants.

  Weaving newspaper tubes - video for beginners.

On the Internet it is easy to find on wondrously sensible and detailed lessons of this needlework. The most common variant of weaving newspaper tubes is similar to weaving from a rod. But before you start creating, you need to prepare material for work. Making the tubes is easy, but it’s worth using the advice of experts, they will teach everything: how to cut a newspaper, and how to twist a tube, and how to get a long tube, and provide their explanations with photographs. And then they will step by step guide the student until the work is completed.

Weaving newspaper tubes ends with the coloring of the product. Spraying with aerosol alkyd enamel has the advantage of staining evenly, quickly and does not require washing jars and brushes. But we must remember that when working with any aerosol, the respiratory system must be protected - the use of a respirator is mandatory. And it is good to ventilate the room after using an aerosol.
   In the manufacture of complex color compositions, you can pre-color newspaper tubes.

Weaving does not require a lot of strength and good vision, the quality of work depends on a well-acquired technique. Not only young people, but also people of mature age will enjoy this craft. Starting to manufacture products, after making newspaper tubes, start with weaving simpler ones and gradually move on to more complex wickerwork. During the manufacture of each product, you will master new techniques and skills.

Weaving newspaper tubes - photos and diagrams.

Practical weaving techniques from newspaper tubes are shown in the photo. They are simple and powerful for every beginner craftsman.

  Hot stand made of newspaper tubes.

If the first blanks of newspaper tubes have already been made and you are eager to create, and experience is still not enough - create a hot stand. In the process, you will master the simplest weaving skills from newspaper tubes and “feel” the material. And also you can improve the manufacturing technology of raw materials. Try to switch to working with color faster.

All the weaving patterns given above are easiest to perfect on flat products such as rugs and napkins. Finished products instantly go to your friends' homes or become a lifesaver for an unexpected presentation.

Today, a long-gone tradition is returning to fashion to hang handmade toys on a Christmas tree. As a modern technology for creating such toys, it is customary to use tubes of paper, newspapers, a very reliable and affordable improvised material. Especially since weaving from newspaper tubes can be mastered by anyone, even the most creatively gifted person.

Snowflake weaving from newspaper tubes.

In this case, it will take only a little patience, paper, glue, scissors, paint or a spray. The snowflake case is best done with the inclusion of wire, but you can do without using exclusively a paper base. For this, not only ordinary soft paper is used, but also quite rigid cardboard, twisted in several layers. Such material will become an indispensable basis, especially since you do not need to spend your time and effort searching for the necessary set of wire to equip the structure, giving it the desired shape. Cardboard can be taken in any color, and then braided with plain paper.

Weaving from newspaper tubes is carried out strictly along the body, taking into account the individual characteristics of the product. For example, you can easily use multi-colored tubes, add original decorative elements to them. In the end, the finished composition is painted, varnished, the product becomes visually attractive and perfect. This is a significant plus of such a snowflake.

Weaving newspaper tubes of a snowman.

We suggest you not make an ordinary snowman, but his growth figure. Of course, patience and time will be required here more, but the result is worth it. Such a snowman will become the center of the New Year photo shoot.

We use the standard scheme for making a snowman - 3 balls fastened together with decorations and decor elements. A feature of the manufacture of a growth figure will be the use of large diameter balls as a frame. Fitness balls of different diameters are best suited.

Each ball is tied with twine, which will later be woven into rows of newspaper tubes and used to fasten the balls together (see photo). Then the balls are braided with newspaper tubes in a sequence from large to small. You can look at weaving from newspaper tubes in more detail according to the schemes and videos presented in the article.

A difficult step is also the process of blowing and pulling balls. Take care of convenience in advance by installing the balls with air inlets to the top. If the finished figure lacks stability, use a bag of sand embedded in the base as a weighting agent.

Do not forget about the hands! This will be a long tube inserted through the holes in the body (at the level of the second ball). You can come up with another version of the hands.

Now we cover the product with varnish and proceed to the decor. We make traditional scarf, hat, buttons and nose with carrot from improvised means. Here before you opens a wider field for imagination. Therefore, even 10 snowmen, made initially according to the same scheme, will not be alike. Create a fun family of snowmen!

Such a snowman will always be surrounded by the attention of children and adults, and also successfully fit into the interior of any home or child care facility. Start work on it in advance. The main thing is to prepare the raw materials, and this is about 3,000 newspaper tubes.

  Weaving newspaper tubes of the original heart.

A heart made of newspaper tubes made with love can very skillfully decorate a house, an apartment for a celebration, as well as make an original gift to a loved one. What is noteworthy, virtually any magazine, old newspapers, even a cash register tape can serve as the starting material (the main thing is that all this be paper and give in to easy processing, coloring).

You can paint the tubes both before and after they are bonded to each other. As a composition for painting, it is best to take ordinary paint, in extreme cases, a spray, after which it will only remain to varnish the finished composition. Next, we will look at how you can make a product beautiful and stylish in more detail.

To work on the composition, you will need to prepare a wire (necessary to create a heart frame, on it in the future all other tubes will be fixed). A set of newspapers and magazines is also selected for the manufacture of the tubes themselves, glue for fastening them, clothespins (used if necessary, reliable fixation).

The sequence of operations is as follows:

♦ The wire is kneaded, after which it must be inserted into the main tubes. This is done exclusively at the beginning of the work. It is important not to take too thick a wire, it is enough to correctly calculate the thickness so that it can be conveniently bent.

♦ The wire is inserted into the tubes, which are used as supporting structures. Other tubes already without wire will be attached in neat layers. The frame is necessarily given the shape of a heart. It is important to perform this operation efficiently, forming perfectly rounded walls of the product.

♦ The tubes in the base must be glued together to give the product its final shape. In the future, it will be necessary to use just the very clothes pegs through which the edges are fixed. Take care to create optimal conditions for subsequent drying of the structure.

♦ When the basic structure is ready, you need to add a tube, only already in another plane, so that the heart turns out to be voluminous. This is necessary not only to create a visually attractive design, but also to further strengthen the heart.

♦ When the three-dimensional frame is finished, the creator is only required to braid it with new newspaper tubes to give the final shape. You can provide two options for the appearance of the product. Namely, the heart, braided with tubes as much as possible, or stylized with just a few elements. Regardless of the option, the wire is no longer required.

Weaving newspaper tubes allows you to create a stylish and practical decoration for the holiday!

Weaving baskets from newspaper tubes.

   Having passed a certain creative path and having mastered the initial basics of craft, you can proceed to the manufacture of a larger and more beautiful product, such as a basket. Baskets have an ancient history - almost as ancient as humanity. They were the first bags in which they transported food, clothing, flowers, and poultry were transported in baskets. Baskets were made of twigs, grass, vines and other materials. Why not make a basket of newspaper vines using what is in the house: pieces of paper? Weaving baskets from newspaper tubesit continues the long tradition of decorating your home with baskets that have been used for various uses in the household (storage of clothes, food, Easter baskets, etc.). A basket woven and decorated with your hands will be a wonderful gift for relatives and friends for any occasion.

Do not immediately tackle the manufacture of large and large baskets, start with a small and decorative basket that will decorate your interior. Feel how to weave a voluminous product. Having completed the manufacture of the basket, you will experience a unique delight and confidence in your creative abilities. Now you can safely proceed to the manufacture of any product from newspaper tubes and believe that you can do anything! Your house will be transformed beyond recognition, and all thanks to your skill and small pieces of waste paper!

Most often, the accumulation of newspapers is associated with the upcoming repair, but sometimes this process gets out of control and the weekly press out of habit is sent to storage in a common pile, increasing to an incredible scale. Over time, the question arises: How to use newspapers wisely in everyday life? Craftswoman Lyudmila Honina will share with us the secrets of creating original products and cleanse our homes of useless waste paper.

A technology called weaving from newspaper tubes allows you to create various gizmos useful in your home: boxes, caskets, coasters, etc. The set of necessary materials is minimal. All you need is newspapers or magazines, knitting needles of different lengths, scissors and glue. Everyone has such goodness.

The strength and appearance of products depends on the quality of newspaper tubes. Of course, you can buy ready-made tubes in the department for needlework and creativity, however, it is better to learn how to twist them yourself. Firstly, you will be independent of the search and supply of such specific raw materials to the outlet. And secondly, the finished product will be 100% hand-made.

To make a tube, take a sheet of newspaper and divide it into 4 strips. Then, applying the knitting needle to the corner of the strip diagonally, begin twisting. Fix the tip of the tube with glue, and remove the spoke on half of the tube. The number of harvested tubes depends on the size of the product.

As a template for future crafts, take a box or other voluminous object. You will braid it. Glue an odd number of tubes to the bottom of the box (on the outside). Further manipulations carefully study on video.

When the box is already woven, go to the decor. You can apply various staining techniques, decoupage, glue beads, shells and much more. Right now the product turns into an individual element of decor, suitable only for your interior. And I can’t believe that earlier it was just a pile of unnecessary newspapers.

If you have ever dreamed of trying the weaving technique, but you were stopped by difficulties in obtaining material, then you can rejoice, because newspaper tube weaving  will allow you to realize all your dreams. Be sure to master this fascinating work, and you will be able to make many practical and decorative little things! By the way, the recycling of newspapers will help you to get not only a beautiful picture frame or pencil box, a bulk container or a stand for hot dishes, you can also weave bags and even clothes.

Newspaper weaving for beginners

   Have you decided to master this kind of handmade? Then the first thing you should start with the manufacture of those elements from which any craft will be made - these are paper tubes.

It should be noted that the material for them can serve not only newspaper pages, but also glossy magazine pages, A4 office paper and even old wallpaper. It all depends on how tough and durable your "homemade" product should be.

First of all, using a knife (it must certainly be well sharpened), cut the newspaper page into strips, the optimal width of each is considered to be 7-12 cm. The longer the strip, the longer, so you will get a tube, which means that it less often will need to increase. However, it’s better not to overdo it with the length - it may be uncomfortable for you to spin.

Take a knitting needle, attach it to the lower left corner and begin to twist, the strip must be sure to wind tightly and neatly. Coat the remaining small corner with glue and glue it to the tube (for this purpose you can use clerical glue or a glue stick). Remove the knitting needle from the paper element. Congratulations - you have taken the first step to starter tubing!

New weaving from tubes - Easter

Weaving from tubes - master classes "Flowers"

Poinsettia

We suggest that you adequately prepare for such a holiday as Christmas, and indeed for all winter holidays. Let an unusually attractive Poinsettia craft decorate your home. This flower is also known as the "Christmas Star" and it is the star-shaped shape that the man-made flower will have.

The collage, posted below, presents the steps for creating a craft. The first step is to collect from the tubes the required number of petals and leaves, then paint them with acrylic paint, respectively, in red and green. Yellow corrugated paper is needed to create round stamens. Now it remains only to collect the "layer cake" of the details.

Sunflower

The next “trowel” will be equivalent in complexity, however, more details for the flower will be needed. It will be done according to the same principle: first, braiding the frame, make yellow petals and green leaves.

Using all the details, collect a sunflower flower. Make the middle from coffee beans planted on glue (you can take any other suitable material).

Be sure to use all the tips of the photo collage below.

Such a sunflower craft can serve not only as an ornament, but also as a hot stand.

Weaving newspaper tubes - hat making workshop

   Newspaper strips are useful for making a headdress - a cute summer wide-brimmed hat.

Use the tips of the master class located below - first you need to start weaving the tulle just like you weaving the most ordinary vases. Use the shape of a suitable diameter so that the weave takes on the desired shape.

Then, straightening paper sticks, you should proceed to the manufacture of fields. When the required width is reached, then complete the weaving in the usual way.

Decorate the resulting summer hat with artificial flowers and satin ribbons.

Original newspaper tube weaving step by step

It must be boring to weave useful and practical things all the time - that’s why we suggest you have fun and make exclusive and interesting “homemade goods” from the “paper rod”.

To decorate the house, you can weave a funny mushroom. Our photo collage will tell you exactly what sequence of actions should be followed. As for the features of the process, it can be noted that the leg of the mushroom is woven like a vase. You can familiarize yourself with our site to learn some of the subtleties of needlework. A mushroom hat is made like hat fields in the master class discussed above. In general, it should be noted that the level of complexity of this craft will not be high and you will be able to please yourself with such creativity.

Piano from the newspaper? It sounds unrealistic, but the workshop described below will prove to you that anything is possible! Of course, this will be a very small copy of a musical instrument, which, nevertheless, will become a real highlight of your home, and will cause genuine delight of the guests. In addition, it can be used as a flower pot.

Stick to all the steps that are illustrated in the photos and then you will certainly get a funny craft. At the end of the work, be sure to paint the piano in a suitable color.

And here is another original option for home decor -.

The original tree with curl branches will become your favorite home decor, it looks so attractive and cozy.

First of all, guided by the following photo instructions, it is necessary to make a trunk by connecting several newspaper tubes into one piece. Then divide the trunk into the components at the top - these will be the branches. Each of them should be braided with a "paper rod" and given a curved shape. In order for the craft to look even more attractive, it is necessary to cover it with several layers of brown paint, waiting for each layer to dry.

Newspaper weaving is a fascinating hobby that at the minimum cost you will give you worthy products.

I think everyone will find a pile of unnecessary newspapers or magazines - throwing away a hand does not rise, and takes up a lot of space. It is from this waste paper that we will craft our Goat. We apply the currently popular technique - weaving from the rod. With one difference - we’ll take the vine not natural, but we will produce it ourselves with the help of a material of no less flexible but more durable newspaper.

Materials and Tools

For weaving, we need:

  • newspapers or magazines;
  • pVA glue;
  • thin needle 1.5-2.5 mm or skewer;
  • water-based stain;
  • brush for painting;
  • tray (optional);
  • scissors or clerical knife;
  • acrylic varnish (you can do without it);
  • ruler.

Making vines from newspapers

First we need to make a paper vine. Immediately make a reservation that for the manufacture of tubes, you can use not only newspapers and magazines, but also writing, fax paper and even receipt tape. Writing paper is the most pliable basis for weaving, journal - it is very capricious and difficult for beginners. We will take the middle option — newspaper paper.

We put the newspapers in half, then cut along the fold line with scissors or a clerical knife. The resulting halves are folded again, cut again. As a result, with a one-newspaper player you should get 4 stripes about 10-11 cm wide. I’ll tell you one little trick: to get light tubes without letters, use only extreme stripes with a white edge.

We put the knitting needle on the most edge of the newspaper strip at an angle of 30-40º, then we start to twist the newspaper as tight as possible. Having finished to the end, apply glue to the corner and slightly scroll between the fingers. Then gently pull the needle out of the tube.

Please note that the diameter of the top edge of the tube should be approximately 2-3 mm wider than the bottom. This is necessary for the possibility of growing our vines in the process of weaving. We will connect the tubes by inserting a narrow tip into a wide one.

Painting and storing paper vines

Since Kozau is blue-green, we will color the resulting newspaper vine. For painting, you can use any water-based stain. The color "nut" will be most suitable in this case. For clothes and decor, you can paint part of the vine from the newspapers in a different tone, for example, mahogany.

Ditegazetnaya vine a little dry. But do not dry! Moist tubes are more malleable, making them much easier. Too dry tubes from the newspaper will be brittle and inflexible.

If you are not going to weave immediately, wrap the vine in cling film. For long-term storage, a vacuum bag with valve is recommended. If the tubules are still dry, shortly before weaving, moisten them with spray water and let them lie down a little.

Weaving

So, we go directly to the weaving of our goats:

  1. To start, we’ll make the blanks. One tube is cut in half. So that the vine does not unwind, we glue the place of the cut.
  2. On one of the halves we get, we tie knots. We get improvised paws with hooves. Fold the other half in half and cut the ends obliquely. These will be the horns for our Goat.
  3. We take two tubes and combine them into one big one. This will be the main frame of our goat. Folding our tube-base with figure eight, we form the ears. Please note that the hanging ends (racks) should be approximately the same in length.
  4. We bend the racks up, pass between the ears, wrap it back - a muzzle is formed.
  5. We glue the blank for horns to the muzzle. We also glue to the head an additional groove, and you need to glue it with a wider end. We smear the upper part of the muzzle with glue and start wrapping it in a circle. But not from the very end, but stepping back a little - we get a nose and lips.
  6. So we wind up to the top. Then we wind the tube back and make two turns - it turns the neck.
  7. To form a dress, we attach a straw of a different color.
  8. We part our base a little and weave the body with an eight - three turns around each rack. We put in the legs, braiding them in a circle.
  9. Then again weave the figure eight, make 5-6 revolutions, to the end of the weave a little narrowing it. The torso is formed. The end of the tube is placed behind the rack and carefully glued.
  10. And finally, on the legs we tie knotted hooves. Each hoof is well coated with glue. Leave to dry.
  11. If desired, you can additionally cover the craft with acrylic varnish. The goat will gain luster, but slightly lose in flexibility.

Depending on who you want to make - a goat or a goat, you can "dress" a figure in a dress, skirt or panties. You can tie a tie, add accessories to your kit - for example, a handbag, or put on a sofa. Using a magnetic sticker, it is possible to make a goat magnet on the refrigerator. It all depends on your imagination.

If you have children, get them involved in the weaving process. After all, joint needlework is one of the most effective methods of education, contributes to the establishment of trusting relations between parents and children. In addition, weaving from newspaper vines remarkably develops fine motor skills of the hands, and is also a good incentive to develop the creative potential of the child.

Dare, create, experiment! Wicker Goat will surely bring you and your family good luck and prosperity.

Needlework can be called a craft bordering on art. It manifests itself in different types of creativity. There are a large number of materials that are used by lovers of applied art. Thanks to new opportunities and technologies, unusual techniques and new directions in creativity appear.

Weaving from a rod is a fairly ancient type of needlework. While the use of newspaper tubes as a material for weaving began to be used not so long ago, the technology itself has been tested for centuries. Newspapers are simple and affordable material, if you have the desire and patience, you can learn how to weave interior items useful in the household.

Craft history

Weaving from plant stems was used already during the Neolithic. Archaeologists find household items made in this way both in Africa and throughout Eurasia. It is assumed that for weaving people used thin tree roots and a flexible vine.

Much later, the interweaving of long rods began to be used in construction. In the nineteenth century, many roofs were made using this technology. Ordinary people made hedges near their home, the rich could boast wicker furniture.

Today, decorative wicker souvenirs can often be found at trade shows. However, one need not dwell only on history. Using the weaving technique, using newspaper tubes, real designer objects are created.

Paper Vine Preparation

The longest stage when working with newspaper tubes is the preparatory stage. The procurement of identical paper rods takes more than a third of the total production time of the product. Collecting enough newspapers is easy. Every day in the mailbox we get various flyers, advertising booklets.

First of all, you should decide on the type of product and the way of weaving. The type of paper depends on this. So, for example, thick glossy covers are used for large items (furniture, boxes, coasters). Thick paper does not have plasticity, but is very durable. Elegant interior products are made of thin paper that can bend in the right direction. Especially good for these purposes is newsprint or unnecessary office sheets for the printer.

Preparation is divided into several stages:

  1. Collection of the required amount of material;
  2. Layout pages on the same stripes (4-10 cm);
  3. Cutting the same workpieces (a clerical knife may come in handy);
  4. Tube formation;
  5. Collect the required number of tubes.

It is best to immediately make the number of tubes with a margin so that then you do not get distracted by this process, but deal directly with weaving.

The process of forming newspaper tubes has several secrets. A strip of paper wraps around a thin metal object. It could very well be a knitting needle. The paper should be placed at an angle relative to the knitting needle. The flexibility of the paper twig depends on the angle. This option is suitable for delicate work. If the subject requires a strong material, the angle of inclination should be made as small as possible. Remember that such tubes are often short. They are perfect for creating the frame of the product. While long thin twigs are needed for weaving.

Secret!  The beginning of each tube is made a little thinner than the end. This makes it possible to combine several twigs into one and continue seamless weaving.

Types of weaving

There are many ways to bind paper blanks. The nature of the weave depends on the functionality of the manufactured item, aesthetic image, place of operation. For a children's room, it is worth choosing a more durable weaving so that the product can withstand active children's games. If you plan to make a decorative element that will stand on a shelf, you can apply openwork patterns. All methods are easy to implement, but require some skill and patience.

So, weaving is distinguished:

  • simple;
  • spiral twisting;
  • tissue (layered);
  • rope;
  • pigtail;
  • openwork.

To begin with, it is worth mastering the basic methods of working with paper vine. You can make a small basket for practice. Simple weaving is the formation of the frame and braiding it with flexible rods. There are options for working with one or two tubes. You can bend around each frame element or through one.

Spiral twisting means a way to work with a vine as in children's crafts made of electrical tape. A thin object is bent around with two rods, twisting is done in each row with a slight displacement. So the spiral effect is obtained.

Layered weaving from newspaper tubes resembles the structure of the fabric. Its other name is fabric weaving. It is used to create round shapes. To work with this type of weaving, you need to alternately bend around the frame bases, either front or back. To speed up the work, weaving with two paper strands at once is possible. When working with round shapes, you need to carefully monitor the start of a new row so as not to lose the binding density.

There is a spiral weaving around the frame rods. To work diagonally, the first row is not at a right angle to the base, but at an angle of 45 degrees. After the end of building the body of the product, it is necessary to finish the unfinished section at the bottom of the basket with an additional tape. Here you can also work simultaneously in two or more bands.

Weaving with a rope and a pigtail, newspaper tubes, strengthens the frame. It can be used for additional sealing of the bottom or edge. Work in this technique is the decoration of the subject. When the base is ready, additional paper tapes are introduced into the edge, intertwined, capturing the body of the base. Decoration is permissible at the bottom at the bottom, at the top at the edge and like a border. The pigtail can be edge and laid on.

The most complex technique can be called openwork. With its help, different patterns and drawings are obtained. Often it performs a decorative function, decorating only an element of the product. There are many different options for openwork weaving. The essence of this work is to create a pattern using plaque-free sections. It can be a chessboard, different vertical braids, plaits, twists, arcs. When combining several patterns, an original, unique object is created.

Some of the types of paper vine work are available even to children; to master the rest, you need to additionally train.

How to weave the bottom of the product

Since the bottom can be represented by any geometric figure, this factor is the main one when choosing the weaving technique. The bottom can be solid or openwork. However, all methods are based on the formation of a framework. For him, bundles of several blanks intersect.

With a continuous bottom, six tubes are placed perpendicularly, crossed 3 through 3 in a checkerboard pattern. The middle should be dense. The success of the whole structure depends on this. The resulting 3 * 3 square is the center around which the bottom begins to grow.

Further weaving is carried out immediately by two twigs. Kinks of lozines are made in the corners of the central figure. Tubes can “dive” both from above and from below the bundle of three frame rods, and can bend around each rod separately. In the process of weaving, a bottom shape is formed. All lozins should fit snugly together.

The second option for bottom formation is based not on three rods, but on six. At the same time they are braided in pairs. To compact the bottom, you can use not only the perpendicular intersection of the base lozines, but also add diagonal paper tubes to the main figure.

It is possible to build up the bottom without a frame. In this case, the bottom is made of two parts of cardboard. Future racks of the item are mounted on one of them, and the resulting structure is covered with the second part. First you need to mark the places of the racks on the cardboard, distributing them evenly. The wicker bottom looks more impressive, especially on small objects (casket, vase).

Further weaving continues according to the selected technique. The only thing you should not forget to take care of is that the length of the racks should correspond to the length of the finished product. Building thick cardboard is very problematic and not always possible. Therefore, it is better to pre-prepare the appropriate rods.

Weaving technique is that the entire product is woven at the same time. It "grows" in height. If you make each part separately, and then glue the structure, then elegance is lost, the joints will look messy.

Tubing and weaving

When you plan a high product, then you can not do without building paper vines. If you adhere to the technology of preparing paper tubes, make one of the edges thinner, then building up will not be difficult. Two twigs are connected using glue, work continues. If after assembly the product is coated with paint, then the joints are completely invisible.

Often during weaving, an object is required that performs the function of the base, the shape of which must be repeated. This method helps to maintain the correct proportions. For a rectangular shape, you can use the box. With tight weaving, the product from thin tubes can even repeat the shape of the bottle.

The product can be painted at the final stage, or you can use pre-painted tubes. At the same time, you can make color accents, realize fantasy patterns. At the last stage, the product is necessarily varnished.
