Santa Claus of truth happens in life. Does Santa Claus exist? Does he exist

Gestalt therapist Svetlana Panina reveals secrets of how to talk with a child about Santa Claus so that he does not consider parents to be liars

The fairy-tale character Santa Claus is not such a grandfather. In the life of Ukrainians, he appeared during the Soviet Union. The then government decided that St. Nicholas, who is a religious hero, did not have a place in the USSR, so she decided to create her own character.

Consequently, from the 1930s, Santa Claus appeared in all performances in kindergartens, schools and streets of cities and villages. Of course, he brought gifts to everyone, usually sweets, and the granddaughter Snegurochka and the boy, who was actually New Year, helped to distribute them. In those days, they even created special bureaus where it was possible to call Santa Claus home to bring pre-agreed gifts to children.

A man in a red coat to the heels fell in love with everyone and firmly entrenched today. Every year, children across the country wait for gifts under the Christmas tree, which appear magically, and hope to detect how Santa Claus climbs through a chimney, window or balcony to put the expected presents.

What to do when a child realizes that his parents were Santa Claus and asks about him directly, said a gestalt therapist, family psychologist and mother of three children Svetlana Panina.

The child believes in Santa Claus, and we are silent. Are we time

Santa Claus is a folk character who appears long before a child acquires critical thinking skills. This character enters his life at a time when the world around him seems fabulous. Usually this is a period of up to three years. The child does not remember how his parents talked about him. He only listens to the tales that his parents read at night, and the fictional characters that they have are stored in his memory.

So, if you stop reading fairy tales and, say, switch the child to a tablet, then he may fall out of culture and not learn anything about Santa Claus. However, in most cases this does not happen, and the child remains within the framework of his culture.

Up to five years, the child lives in a fairy-tale world and believes that the enchantment exists, so there is no reason to blame yourself for lying to him. And in the end, I rarely heard of parents deliberately informing their children that Santa Claus exists. They don’t do that.

The child begins to suspect that Santa Claus was invented

When a child begins to ask questions about whether Santa Claus exists at all, it is important not to do all the work for him, giving an answer. He must do it without any help. The child is better to come to the conclusion that Santa Claus is still a fiction. Revealing this mystery is an important stage in growing up a child. He must independently pass from the fabulous to the real world.

Children are not as stupid as they want to appear. They want the miracle to happen in the future, although they already understand that Santa Claus does not exist. Nevertheless, they force the parents to give the second part of the gift. Indeed, "these gifts were brought by Santa Claus. And what will you give me, parents?" And then mom and dad have to get out.

The child asks if Santa Claus exists. Life hack how to answer the question correctly

At the moment when the child asks such questions, parents usually fall into a stupor, not knowing how to correctly tell the truth. There are several ways to do this.

Method 1

You can raise the "white flag", and tell everything as it is. The child should explain that they had no intention of lying and simply supported the belief in a miracle.

But here you need to understand that children do not always want to hear this truth: in fact, they are more interested in how their parents relate to them. Therefore, it is worth explaining that you, parents, consider him an adult who is able to understand everything himself. Ask the child what he thinks about this, but do not deliberately let him down to the truth.

Method 2

Another way to answer is to not say anything. Parents should, so to speak, “freeze”, saying that Santa Claus brings gifts only to those who believe in him. So the child will analyze and pave the way for the correct answer.

Method 3

The universal and best answer is to discuss this topic with your child. You need to ask what he thinks and feels about this. If the child insists that Santa Claus exists, share his faith. If he says that there is no Santa Claus, ask why he thinks so. Do not answer either in the affirmative or in the negative. If the child nevertheless understands that this character is just a fiction and is upset, support him and explain if you are also offended and offer to become an assistant to Santa Claus in relation to younger children.

Psychologist Experience

Personally, I got out in this way. My 12-year-old daughter received two gifts: one from Santa Claus, and the other from me. I handed her a magic wand and said: "12 years old is such an age when you yourself can give gifts to other people. Santa Claus comes to children, and at 12 years old he is already an adult." So I explained to her that Santa Claus is not a person, but simply a spirit inside her that inspires to give gifts to others.

If the child is already ready to accept such a truth, tell him about it and support him, because this is exactly why the children come to their parents.

The child was offended by the parents for the "lie" about Santa Claus. What is this talking about

If a child takes offense at his parents for not hiding the truth and that Santa Claus does not exist, the problem is actually not only that. Such a reaction is a manifestation of impaired communication between the child and his parents.

In this case, parents should talk with their children in order to better understand them and prevent such cases. Parents should ask how their child relates to the holiday, as well as involve in the process of preparing for it.

For example, there is a wonderful tradition of writing letters to Santa Claus and St. Nicholas. Invite your child to write it, but give it room for creativity. Get rid of all the rules: let him draw scribbles and write not under the ruler. The main thing is that at this moment the parents were near.

This letter can be sent together by mail, allowing the child to drop it in the mailbox with his own hand. You can also prepare gifts for other family members together or make decorations for the Christmas tree and home together. This interaction of children and parents makes the child feel that they love and support him.

Why the moment of magic is important in the life of a child, and the decommunization of Santa Claus is a bad idea

Whether we like it or not, people need magic. Holidays in our culture are a demonstration of the fact that we survived and we have resources not only to continue to exist, but also to create coziness and a pleasant atmosphere around. With this "excess" we show the child that we can survive even further, because once, or even more a year, the family can afford to celebrate. This is an element of social culture to which we attract a child.

I don’t know how Santa Claus will be decommunized, and how new laws will be applied to him, but I think that everything should go on its own. If humanity grows out of these tales, then so be it. But intentionally removing Santa Claus from children's matinees in kindergartens and schools and in general from people's lives does not make sense. All that is needed will disappear on its own.

In the life of a child, there may be another character around which a little mysticism and magic will revolve. It doesn't have to be Santa Claus, because a hundred years ago no one even knew about him.

If parents do not want to "lie" about Santa Claus, they can come up with another character that suits their conscience. But the moment of magic must remain.

For every person, an atmosphere of mystery is important. If we say that Santa Claus is a lie, then the cinema, the theater, and cartoons are also a lie. It is worth finding the line between magic and falsehood and receive positive emotions from such holidays.

After all, Santa Claus comes once a year, so you should not get hung up on the fact that he is just an invention, and just enjoy the family holiday.

Does Santa Claus really exist? This question at the time to put on a par with "What to do?" and “Who is to blame?” because it is very difficult to give a clear answer to it. As a fairy-tale character, he certainly has roots in folklore, as well as his granddaughter, and part-time his faithful assistant is Snegurochka.

Strong arguments in favor of a fairy tale

The existence of a kind fairy-tale grandfather was repeatedly questioned. Some even quite responsibly declare that there is no Santa Claus.  Then how to explain that:

  1. Into him believe millions of people. A child may not believe in much, but not in Santa Claus! And all because he, like everyone else, believes in the best. Up to a certain point, the whole life of a child is a fairy tale itself, where much is inexplicable.
  2. More letters are written to him than to any power structure. On the eve of the holiday mail is literally bombarded with letters Santa Claus. Their little authors are asking for a gift or miracle not from their parents or grandparents, but from a good winter storyteller.
  3. He has many names in other countries around the world. At that time, when Russian children lay all their hopes on Santa Claus, in America in every house they are waiting for Santa Claus. He has a lot of names, and they meet him in different ways, but his essence is the same - to give a holiday.
  4. If he is not, then how does everyone know what he looks like? A long-fur coat, a fur hat, a white beard and a bag with gifts in hand are a familiar image. In our country they can be confused by photos of the most famous and most real writers, but Santa Claus will not be confused with anyone.
  5. People need him. It would seem that adults only believe in themselves, and miracles are rejected. Then why do they support faith in Santa Claus in their children? The answer is simple - this tale is necessary, not only for children, but also for parents. When mother puts gifts for her children under the tree, she is immersed in the brightest childhood memories when her mother did the same for her. She is looking forward to children's delight and the joy that she herself will experience when she reports that Santa Claus came to their house and left gifts. Without this magic, it is impossible to truly meet a new stage in history.
  6. No one is indifferent to him. Santa Claus (even in the picture or in the photo as a disguised actor) cannot help but smile. Even those who claim that they do not believe in him are never indifferent to him.

Historical roots

The famous and beloved fairy tale character, as it turned out, quite young. He is only two centuries old. The good grandfather, who gives gifts for the New Year and whom the children are waiting for, appeared only in the 19th century. Although the prerequisites for its appearance have a deeper history. It is believed that modern Santa Claus is an echo of Slavic pagan beliefs. The ancient Slavs believed that there was a deity named Frost. He was neither good nor evil, he did not give gifts, he did not bring a holiday to the house. He simply was, and they simply believed in him.

The come true fairy tale

To this day, faith in the Slavic deity Frost has not survived, but the unrest and miracles associated with it still exist in our time. The real Santa Claus, if it exists somewhere, then we are unlikely to be able to touch or hug it. However, the fact that he knows everything about us is difficult to dispute. Otherwise, how to explain what is still (in the age of high technology and intensive scientific progress) it is believed not only by children, but also by adults. Yes Yes! Adults, along with children, expect that a miracle will happen under the chiming clock: everything bad that was in the past year will certainly go away and be forgotten, and in the new year a new life will come, very similar to a real fairy tale.

That is why I really want Santa Claus to be real, albeit remotely resembling dad or a neighbor on the porch, but real! And that is why in every city on New Year's Eve there are so many real Santa Clauses and Snow Maidens, because a miracle must certainly enter every house and give a fairy tale. Meanwhile, the most important Santa Claus is in his ice palace in the city of Veliky Ustyug. He has an extremely important task - to ensure the coming of the New Year!

If you liked this article, like it!

New Year's Eve was in full swing, the floors and ceilings were shaking - adults were celebrating.

I spanked into the next room and in a sleepy voice asked my parents: “Did you come?” “Oh, yes ... I didn’t want to wake you up, but I asked you to convey this,” something smooth and snow-white was released from the wrapping paper. Skates!!! Dream!!! Since then, I am absolutely sure that it still exists.

And why not, if ...

Parents tell us about him.  And parents don’t lie to children. An unconscious kid can still afford to doubt that mom and dad are getting dark about a strange old man who cannot be caught red-handed, at least not sleeping all night. But we are adults, well-mannered people. We will not suspect them of this.

He draws patterns of unimaginable beauty on the windows.  An ordinary person is simply not able to depict a fabulous winter forest on the back of the glass without the help of brushes and paints. Overnight. On the fourteenth floor.

He is a thousand times more popular than any of the stars.  show business, sports and politics. How many of you have met Lady Gaga personally? But no one doubts that she is.

The number of gifts received by the population  for the New Year, significantly exceeds the cast of all the troupes of all theaters in the country, moonlighting on holidays with congratulations to children and adults. According to the latest census. They took a bath with fragrant foam, and the scribes didn’t reach you? Then even more significantly. Do not forget to go to the bathhouse until December 31, so that certainly Santa Claus does not miss.

He has a huge number of doubles in any part of the globe. Santa Claus in English-speaking countries, French Pere Noel, Karelian Pakkayne, Azerbaijani Mine Baba, Finnish Youlupukki and even Shen Dan Laozhen in China, which we are certainly much more difficult to imagine. Perhaps this is not even doubles, but relatives. And if he has such a large family, then how can he himself not be?

100% of participants in the survey “Why did you believe in the existence of Santa Claus as a child?”  They said they still believe in him. If you are embarrassed that it was only my friends, and the study was conducted as part of the task to prove the unprovable, you can double-check this with your friends. I assure you, the result will be the same.

There is no more or less convincing evidence.that he really is not. We continue to believe in it, and few people seriously think of interrupting this wonderful tradition and debunking the myth.

He loves his granddaughter.  Like a real grandfather. Pampers and does not burden with hard work. Despite the fact that the Snow Maiden is officially considered his main and only assistant, in fact, she does not have a single laborious duty. And she does not always accompany him.

In life, many different events happen, the reality of which is impossible to believe.  Let us take at least the very desires that we so eagerly make, trying to formulate in one minute, write down on a piece of napkin, dissolve in a glass of champagne and swallow a volume of tasks that, according to good mind, could not be solved even in a five-year period. But they come true!

He believes in us.Although for a long time he could have been offended and stopped contacting with such suspicious and incredulous creatures as humans.

He is the only one of the invented fairy-tale characterswho somehow or other at least once a year becomes real. The rest do not bother to leave hatched stoves, outlandish forests, magic swamps, gingerbread houses and other fantastic worlds, children's books, films and cartoons.

He has an excellent pedigree, originating in the history of the ancient Slavs. The ancestor on the male line - Grandfather Treskun - was a strict, but fair old man. Those who ached and were angry at the cold - did not complain, but rewarded those who were working and patient with good health.

His image has not been criticized for many years. Given the current speeds and instant reactions of the fashion to the rapidly changing tastes of the demanding public, one has to admit that maintaining such a stable demand for the same ensemble of red fur coat and hat is the result of cooperation with a team of competent modern stylists.

He is a citizen of his country.  He has a homeland and permanent residence. The presence of a passport and registration will most likely be confirmed by the employees of the corresponding passport office in the glorious city of Veliky Ustyug.

Nothing human is alien to him. For example, a love of poetry, albeit in the form of children's poems. How much he heard them in his lifetime from obedient boys and girls is hard to imagine. However, every time in every house he is ready to listen to them again and again.

He is kind.Among folk heroes it is difficult to find a more generous, noble and tireless. At the most inopportune time for fun - a cold and inhospitable winter - he comes to us with gifts, love and faith in the best.

It appears on the horizon only on holidays.  Like all other normal people. Even the closest friends sometimes do not get the chance to drink a coffee - to chat about this during the work week. Such a harsh reality.

He doesn't give a damn about the laws of physics.  Therefore, he moves through the air on reindeer, descends through chimneys, the diameter of which does not fit even his staff alone, and manages to visit millions of dwellings in one night. And what, you have never overcome crazy distances in a matter of minutes? Even late for work? Have you ever been home at a time when no transport is already running? Even returning from a corporate party? How did you succeed? Maybe you are Santa Claus?

He has no wife.  It is possible that he does not want to marry at all. And in this he is no different from the average man of our time.

He is very successful. If you do not say that his career can lead the list of the most successful in history. At the same time, he does not seem to intend to rest on his laurels and retire. But a career still cannot exist separately from the one who makes it.

He is not without sentimentality.and other human weaknesses. Imagine how many letters he receives from the kids! But all of them must be read very carefully. Definitely, he just really likes the process itself. It is touching.

“I personally think so! I can’t explain, but ... yes! ”Words are not a boy, but girls. Ordinary 6 year old girl. I personally think that this is quite objective evidence. I can’t explain why, but ... yes!

He monitors health and goes in for sports.  Because, being at a fairly advanced age, he manages a lot and never complains about anything.

There are those who doubt it.  In other words, there is no smoke without fire. The presence of the opposition is direct evidence that there is an informational reason to argue.

Any man at least once in his life was Santa Claus.  Well, or a fisherman who caught that fish! Or the winner of a tender with such a rival! And we believe men more often than parents. From a certain moment, we believe only them.

He has a cold head, a warm heart, and clean hands.  Perhaps he is simply an employee of secret security services. You can't imagine a better cover for catching spies and other villains than celebrating the New Year.

He may get confused.  Call Sasha Vitya, Konstantin Valentinovich Valentin Konstantinovich, and Snegurka Marinochka. It happens to everyone. It does not happen only with fairy-tale characters, but for living people - a common thing.

He is old.  If he had been invented, then they would have been portrayed as a nice, good fellow - charming, quick-witted and with good prospects. Well, anyway, I would do just that.

There is not a single person who would not have a special relationship with him.  He owed to someone else from the time he gave the designer instead of the ordered machine. Someone puzzle: whether to use the services of a holiday agency or a neighbor from the apartment on the left to ask to play the role of winter grandfather for your beloved child. Someone has accumulated a lot of philosophical questions for him.

But we are all waiting for him. And we will wait until we believe in miracles. Even when we stop believing in Santa Claus.

But actually I am asking this question for the first time and I can’t give a clear answer to spam. Is there Santa Claus or not - or are these children's fairy tales?

Here we even have in Russia such a city of Great Ustyug - the main office of Santa Claus. And there is some guy sitting there and posing as Santa Claus. But in fact, what is the situation and where did this strange belief for the New Year come from, giving gifts and supposedly from some kind of Santa Claus.

So let's try to figure it out. Who is Santa Claus? We type in Yandex who Santa Claus is and we see hundreds of sites that supposedly give an answer to the question - but going there and reading - hundreds of new questions appear.

Moreover, until the end of the 19th century, that Santa Claus, to which we were not accustomed! Yes, yes, exactly so - he was not there! In general, the cult of Santa Claus comes from Slavic pagans. Wow, you say! And you will be right. Our country is Russia, it is not Orthodox, it is multiconfessional - this is when there are many different religions. And we have no titular nation. Those. Russians are not a fundamental nation. And it's worth remembering. And to know. And everyone celebrates and knows and teaches children what Santa Claus is. Well, November 4 is right - unity day! And it doesn’t matter who you are - Santa Claus is one!

But seriously - yes, we live in an Orthodox country, with the main population of 78% - Russians, most Russians are Orthodox Christians and most of their children believe in Santa Claus. And parents strongly support this faith, strongly approve. But if an atheist grows out of a child, who no longer believes in God or Gods, because he was deceived in childhood - he was forced to believe in Santa Claus, and then he was informed that Santa Claus was dumb - this was an invention, but there is God. Believe in him now. Naturally, the child thinks - they say, why should I be sure that God is? And if he is also not there? Evidence is needed - but there is no evidence.

And so, we come to the main question - is there really Santa Claus? The Slavs had such a deity - Frost - they believed in him, but he did not bring any gifts - he simply was, just like other gods and deities on this planet. They didn’t give anything, they didn’t take anything away or give it away. It was only at the end of the 19th century that such a habit of giving presents for the New Year came into vogue and supposedly it gives Santa Claus.

From here both all our troubles and the troubles of our children. They stop believing. Stop believing after facing the first worldwide lie. Confidence immediately drops to almost zero.

So let’s not let the children disappoint - if they believe, then let them believe, let the great Ustyug clog in Yandex and go there and celebrate the new year with Santa Claus. Let them believe that he brings gifts.

Sooner or later, the unconditional faith of children in Santa Claus begins to be subjected to critical questions about the reality of his existence, how he manages to everyone, how he guesses his desires. Many parents are frightened by this moment because of their ignorance of what to say: tell the truth or allow them to remain in the magical world?

Does Santa Claus exist? What to say?

At 8-9 years old, the child is distinguished by a fictional world and a real one. For interest shown in the person of Santa Claus, you can choose one of the following explanations.

  • Santa Claus is there until the faith in him is alive.
  • Santa Claus is a citizen of a magical land, along with other characters in fairy tales.
  • Santa Claus does not live as a person, but in our thoughts, as a legendary hero.

Belief in a miracle in the future helps children to cope with difficult situations. Fairy tales develop creative abilities. In the later life of the child, they facilitate adaptation to the adult world.

If a child is interested in why Santa Claus always looks different, say that the real one does not cope with all things, because he needs to be in time in one night and has to use the services of assistants.

The belief that maintaining a belief in magic in a child can be harmful will lead to disappointment in the future. With age, he himself will understand everything. And if you ask why they told him a lie, tell me that the main thing is the opportunity to give joy to loved ones, the desire to create miracles, and whether Santa Claus exists in real life is a secondary question.

What you should not do

Do not resort to blackmail and manipulation through trust in Santa Claus, stating that in case of poor behavior he will leave the child without a gift. To achieve the desired behavior, you should resort to methods that create the skill. In his absence, good behavior will be forced and not long-term.

Brothers Santa Claus from different parts of the world

Tell your child that the whole world believes in Santa Claus, as evidenced by the number of his relatives.

If the answers to the question "Does Santa Claus exist?" still leave the child with doubts, tell us that the existing personality is known - st Nicholaspatronizing travelers and children. It is known that St. Nicholas was born in the year 270 where Turkey is now, the date of death is December 6, 346. Legends about his kindness and noble deeds are known to this day. They say that he helped the poor, and the kids secretly put money and food in the shoes that were put on the threshold.

The tradition began in the 10th century. In the Cologne Cathedral (in Germany) on December 6, parish school students were gifted with sweets, over time, all over Germany began to hang out shoes for the saint waiting for a gift. Soon this began to be done throughout Europe. Adults can also find a surprise left by St. Nicholas in the most unexpected places. Adherents of the Catholic faith in Mikołajki celebrate December 6th. Supporters of Orthodoxy celebrate St. Nicholas Day on December 19.
