Christmas time-holy evenings, so called in Russia festivities dedicated to the Nativity of Christ. In this holiday the pagan rites of the ancient Slavs and the customs of Christianity intertwined.

Christmas time lasts two weeks and is divided into 3 stages.

January 7 - Christmas Day –Sacred evenings.It turns out the mistress:

The carollers carried an eight-pointed star on a pole. Good hosts gave guests pies, sweets, money. And if the owners were greedy, then the carollers sang songs with comic threats:

January 14 - Vasiliev Day, Vasily the Pig, holidayOatsenya. According to the old style comes the first day of the New Year. By tradition, on this day, people wish each other good, health, peace, happiness, prosperity, fertility, wealth.

On Vasiliev Day childrenscattered grains (Ovsenya)   on the floor in the house, as a symbol of wealth, prosperity and future harvest, and the oldest woman in the house collected grains scattered across the floor and stored until sowing.

Another old New Year's custom -it sculpt and cook dumplings . Surprises can be different, but tradition does not lose its charm from this. For the New Year’s Eve, cookies in the shape of animals, birds and other figures were also baked.

The brightest and most carefree period of a person’s life is childhood. It is inextricably linked with the tale. And the most magical of the holidays is the New Year. New Year is an amazing holiday, which even in adults, in addition to will, causes a feeling of miracle.

In our kindergarten "Snow White" of the city of Noyabrsk, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug it has become a tradition to celebrate the old New Year. The Old New Year is just Vasily’s day, but since it is between Christmas and Epiphany, it falls into a series of Christmas holidays. Yes, this is a good reason to once again fully celebrate the New Year. These holidays continue to immerse our children in the atmosphere of a fairy tale and create a favorable emotional state. They also meet with various characters and the main characters of the holidays - the Snow Maiden and Santa Claus.

During the Old New Year holiday, fairy-tale characters introduce children to the rituals of this holiday and one of them is "Dumplings with surprises." Dumplings with surprises :   the most common tradition in Russia on the night of the old New Year is to sculpt and cook dumplings, some of which are with surprises. On our holiday dumplings were with such surprises:

• Beans - to a new toy
• Button - to the new thing
• Candy - a sweet surprise
• Nitka - a trip to the mini - museum of DOW

In each locality (even in every family) the meaning of surprises may differ, but the tradition itself is very warm and friendly - it allows the whole family to get together and chat.

During these holidays, even the most indecisive and shy children join in a round dance, go dancing, singing and playing with the Snow Maiden and fairy-tale characters.

Much, of course, depends on the abilities of the children, but beautiful costumes, appropriate decorations and attributes help the child feel like a fairy tale hero, and wonderful music, light poetry text allow small participants to convey the story to the story.

The main purpose of the celebration is the preservation, strengthening and development of folk customs and traditions. And most importantly - children form a national identity or ethnic identity, as an awareness of their belonging to a particular ethnic group.

Every time you look at the sparkling eyes of children, hear their sonorous laughter and observe a genuine interest in everything that happens, you feel a sense of joy yourself. It is not without reason that they say that the impressions received in childhood are the most vivid, and they remain in memory for a lifetime.
